《Tales of the Underground - The Game》Chapter 6

As fast as they could, the remaining officers hurried back through the labyrinth. Wither was clinging to McGill's belt and Frye to his, to prevent them from sharing Crissly's fate.
When they reached the room with the large double door, they stopped to catch their breath and re-evaluate their situation. There were three more keys to be found in an unknown amount of time.
"Let's cut to the chase", said Wither. "If we play by his rules, he's just going to pick us of one by one. I say, we change the rules."
Frye nodded and checked her revolver.
"How about instead of looking for some stupid keys, we go on a hunt."
"Sounds bloody good to me!", said Gus. "Common and get some, you coward!"
Something moved through the shadows and landed right between them with a metallic sound. Wither looked down and saw small ball the size of a large orange and shaped like the shell of an unripe chestnut. Next moment the air quickly filled with dense smoke. Inside he could see lightning, like the inside of a thunder storm. Then the cloud had reached him and an intense pain went through his body when the electric smoke touched him. He jumped back, away from the deadly cloud. He had read about those weapons, that usually were reserved for the war. He knew to stay away.
The cloud was quickly expanding, leaving Wither no choice but to flee into one of the corridors. He dived into the darkness and suddenly something grabbed him from behind. He turned around, a blade cut through the darkness and almost got his arm. He shot three times in the dark, praying to at least wound his opponent. Then lightning flashed in front of his eyes, as a hand grabbed his face. Wither felt the same electric pain as before, racing through his body. Then his mind went blank.

Project Looking Glass: Freelancer
When a game can set you up for life, a man with a talent for analysis gambles his future for a new lease on life. While traveling on the colony ship Pioneer Michael Wolfe and many others are logged into Project Looking Glass, a fully immersive Virtual Reality MMORPG set on the world they are traveling to. At the end of the journey all players will be permitted to keep the land they hold in the game as their homestead for the new colony. Michael Wolfe must put away the books of myth and folklore and push himself to his limit to achieve the start to his new life. Updates will come by chapter as I write them, so don't count on a solid release schedule (though I will try for a few chapters each week). Edit advice is always welcome, but please keep it polite. ((Cover is just a working cover until I can get some decent artwork)) Be advised that I am currently focusing on Hero's Call. Project Freelancer will continue/be rewritten in parts when I have finished the story arc I intend for Hero's Call.

Overseer (Dwarf Fortress x Worm)
A young woman gains the power to make elements of a saved game real. She must then survive the assault of a coordinated attack by some of the deadliest parahumans on the planet - he same group of murderhobos that caused her the mental trauma that resulted in her gaining her powers to begin with. This is a crossover fiction between the most complicated game ever created, 'Dwarf Fortress' by Toady One, and an extensive grimdark superpower genre serial fiction called 'Worm' by Wildbow. It is violent and there are some references to sex in it, so it's probably not fit for young children to read, and persons not familiar with Dwarf Fortress or Worm might be confused by some elements, but I feel confident that it stands reasonably well on it's own. This crossover is complete. I posted it here in it's entirety all at once. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
