《Without horizon》Chapter Seven - Preparations

"My King" a black figure appeared in front of Skrevin, who was preparing to dress in ceremonial clothes for the approaching ritual.
"Did you come to tell the good news?" Skrevin turned in front of him, waiting for an answer from him.
"No, I came to tell the transplant status of the transplant unit"
"I guess it's delayed" Skrevin knew right away what it was about.
"True. The unit was forced to retreat because they fell into an Island eater orbit. They went straight into the territory of the True Roccs that nested on the beast, but luckily no heavy damage was done.
"It's unfortunate, but for transcendence, time is meaningless. We can wait."
"And what about the scout who managed to escape? Did you manage to catch him?"
"No king, the crew sent along with the airships to stop the scout who escaped failed, he managed to escape and sneak into the stormy area, we lost track of him there"
"How much does he know?"
"I think apart from our existence that now the world seems to know, I do not think more than that"
"We who should not take unnecessary risks" Skrevin turned towards the large window where he was looking out at the great tunnel, where the goblins had forged and built airships, ready to defend themselves, at any cost.
"Although this area is extremely dangerous, especially during this period, the scout will not be able to survive. And even if it is, I do not assume that he will be able to get out of there without any physical harm," the king said:
"But if he succeeds, we need to move on if the last step as soon as possible. Informed all teams to expedite the preparations, and for the transplant unit to try to find a way around."

"Yes, my king" and the black figure disappeared into the shadow.
Right after that, Skrevin came out of the palace accompanied by his guards, straight to the surface. There he sees some goblins practicing firearms, hitting most of their targets, and others practicing their shadow magic. Even though it impressed him, he did not come to see the army training. He and his guards advanced straight into a large, flat area of land, where goblins roamed in preparation for the final stage. He watched as some of them dug a little into the ground, filling it with the white material that had been stolen from him in a secret operation. Suddenly from the side came a different goblin from the rest of those who worked to create the circle.
"Good to see you here my king" The goblin wore black clothes that covered his whole body, symbolizing the darkness with which Annihilator brings: "What brings you to the surface?"
"I wanted to see how everything progresses, and I'm pleased with all the progress I've read so far."
"Good to hear this" he turned to the sides and called for some of the priests to bring him. They reacted immediately and with him, he sees that he is carrying with him something resembling the transparent-light blue body of an animal that looks like a nightmare.
"It's not a problem" one of them noted: "But it seems that the attacks of the radioactive mana creatures continue to climb and become more submissive" the other noted.
"How dangerous do you think it will be until we start the ritual?" Skrevin asked
"Alone, it's dangerous. Some of the soldiers who tried to confront them died of radiation poisoning. But with the help of Master Shadow's subjects, the attacks manage to be eradicated before they cause damage."

"Keep it up, nothing must stop the ritual. Defend in life to see it ready."
"In the name of Annihilator, it will be done" everyone said and continued their words as they dragged the creature's body away from it. Suddenly Skrevin continued to cough up blood from his mouth. He knows he does not have much time, and he is afraid that he will not get to see everything happen. He sits down for a moment in a safe place and remembers hearing stories about before the disaster:
"Before the disaster, there was a thriving city, with a world wonder of a magnificent shipyard where they could take an airship and fly around the island, one might say paradise. But some envied their success until it permeated one of their friends: the Resurrection. Their friends and enemies for the days to come created a new weapon and with it, they decided to give some of them as a gift. They called these weapons "atom bombs" and gave them in a solemn ceremony symbolizing their unity.
But what we did not know was that they hid a trap there and as soon as they returned to their island, they activated them. As a follow-up to the festivities, some began displaying airships on another unruly island, witnessing the horror of the smoke mushrooms created, destroying the city. Everyone who lived there was wiped out of existence and every building built there was razed. All but one, his ancestral ancestors, the first Skrevin. They found him burned all over his body, but still standing and telling that he had met the god Annihilator. He is the one who will command him to prepare for his coming, as a price for the one who saved him. "Since then, his and later my dynasty is the one that controls all the goblins that have survived but at the cost of blood that the effects of that fateful day are etched on their blood."
"I, Skrevin the IX, will get to see the day we succeed in keeping God's command" he declared while the other guards saw him, not understanding what had happened, so he continued to cough up blood.
"I think you should come back, we need to check how bad it is." one of the guards said, and together, they advanced back to the underground palace.
"Hear me, this day will come, and with it, I will avenge the wrath of all those who have been wiped off from the earth!" he thought to himself as he descended to the earth.

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.
