《An unknown world》Chapter 23: A forgotten dream
Advertisement
While he was on his way home from school, he sits down at the back left passenger seat of the car.
As he glances at the scenery outside the car, he suddenly remembers about the people whom he got to know and what activities he has done with them.
This is a flashback of what happened during the self-study period for Maths class.
While they were playing Tic-Tac-Toe, Angelica was the one who always emerged as the winner of the game for 16 rounds. This was followed by Alice, who won the game for 7 rounds and Barry, who just won the game in only one round. As for Andrew and Brian, both of them lost in the game for 24 rounds straight.
At first, all of them enjoyed playing the game. But they soon got bored with it and played XO game instead. Both of the girls combined won a majority of 21 rounds in the game while each of the boys won at least one round.
Throughout the whole time that they have been playing games, it was at this time that Angelica treated Barry just like the first time they first talked to each other.
When Andrew saw how Angelica treated Barry nicely, he felt a pang of jealousy in his heart towards Barry. This is because he has tried his best to gain her attention. Yet all of his efforts ended in vain.
Barry, on the other hand, had easily gained her attention with no effort. So he slowly loses his interest in playing any games with the others and somehow harbors resentment towards Barry from the bottom of his heart.
At that time, Barry hasn't realized Andrew's strong resentment towards him.
As he reminisces about what had transpired in school today, his head was now up in the clouds, as he didn't realize that they have finally reached home.
He regains his consciousness when his mother calls out his name a few times. When he enters the house, he goes straight towards his room to change into his house clothes. After that, he went downstairs to join his parents to eat dinner.

After dinner time was over, he helps his mother to wash the dishes. After he has done washing the dishes, he then goes up to his room to do his daily routines.
While he was doing revision, the thought of the other world suddenly came to his mind. This is because the memories of all the events that happened in the other world were still fresh in his mind.
When he reminisces about his experience in the other world, he then said to himself in a bored tone. "Oh... how I wished I didn't been sent back here. How would my life be like if I were stuck there? I guess all of that would be left to my imagination, huh? Guess I should keep up with my revision, or else my grades will drop if I behave like this."
After that, he continues to do his revision. After he has completed his revision, he then prepares his school bag for tomorrow's school subjects and finally hits the sack.
When he was about to fall asleep, he suddenly feels discomfort in his chest as his left eyelid twitches. He then wondered to himself about what is the main cause of his feelings in his chest.
Despite having a bad feeling in his chest, he still manages to fall asleep as normal.
While he was in a deep sleep, he suddenly hears loud footsteps resounding within his room.
At first, he thought of opening his eyes to scan his surroundings. But he was too afraid to open his eyes, as he doesn't want to find anything horrifying standing in front of him.
Luckily, he remembers he could use his ears to keep track of the direction and distance of the sound of footsteps.
When he tries to locate the direction and measure the distance between him and the sound of the footsteps, he manages to pinpoint its direction and the distance between them.
The sound of the footsteps was approaching towards him from the front and was closing in on him.
After he has got the information that he needed, he then slowly opens up his eyelids to scan his surroundings.

As he tries to scan his surroundings in the room which was lighted up with the moon's dim glow shining through the window, he doesn't seem to find anyone around him at all.
But when he blinks his eyes twice, there stood a tall, dark figure standing still within the darkness.
Barry was stunned speechless as his heart thumps hard on his chest when he saw the black figure standing in front of his bed.
He was about to leap out of bed to defend himself against the unknown entity, but his entire body refused to act upon his will. Thus, leaving him with no choice but to wait and see the person's next actions.
As he awaits for the person's next move, the person suddenly takes a step forward towards him.
As the person slowly advances into the dim-lighted area of the room, the person's appearance is slowly revealed by the moonlight's glowing light.
When parts of the body of the unknown entity came to light, Barry soon came to realize who the person in black suit is. It was none other than Daemon himself.
As soon as he realizes it was Daemon who was standing in front of him, he breathed out a sigh of relief and said to Daemon with a smile on his face. "Phew, thank goodness. What a relief. For a second there, I thought who was it in my room." But Daemon didn't give any response to him.
At first, Barry wasn't able to read the current situation he is in, as he continues to smile at Daemon. But when he glanced at Daemon's serious facial expression, he had a feeling that things will get really messy from this point onwards.
So he gets himself together and musters up all his courage to talk with Daemon and said to him. "Daemon..."
Before Daemon could allow Barry to say anything, he straights away gives Barry a warning with a furious tone in his voice.
He said, "Do you still remember what the princess asked you before? I mean "The Organization"? Please try to avoid from getting yourself involved in it. That will ensure you to live out your life as a normal kid for the rest of your life. Hope you will listen to what I said. Remember, stay as far as you can from getting yourself involved with them."
When Barry heard what Daemon said to him, he felt confused by Daemon's sudden action. He then asks him about his purpose of giving him a warning, but Daemon refuses to give him his reason at all.
Daemon then said to him. "Anyway, this will only end up as a dream that you met me here. Once you wake up, you will forget that this has ever happened. But there will come a time when you will remember about this. So it's time for you to wake up now."
After he told that to Barry, he snapped his fingers in front of Barry's eyes. This caused Barry to blink his eyes.
When Barry opened up his eyes once again, it was now almost time for him to go to school. He was utterly shocked to have such a dream. He then gets up from bed and scans his surroundings once more to confirm the dream that he had.
When he tries to recall the dream that he had earlier, his head suddenly aches in pain when a part of the dream came to his mind.
Suddenly, his headache vanishes along with the memory of the dream that he had earlier. He then asks himself a question. "Wait... what dream did I have just now? Well, whatever. I have to get myself prepared for school now."
And just like that, Barry has forgotten everything about the dream which he had previously and acts like nothing ever happened at all.

Maker of Fire
On a world where magic kept civilization firmly in the bronze age, the Gods dropped an accountant and a mining engineer to start a political and industrial revolution. They wanted enlightened governance and a fast track to the iron age. They got indoor plumbing, paper airplanes, a cranky queen, and one very grumpy prophet. Dramatis Personae Aylem was a bookkeeping student when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as the greatest mage ever known, born into the ruling class of gigantic, magic-wielding humans. The Gods expect her to conquer the world and introduce double-entry accounting. Though Queen and numerical reformer, world conquest is stalled because everyone is scared of her and she doesn't like war. Emily was a retired engineer when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as one of the enslaved class of small, magicless humans. The Gods expect her to drag the world out of the bronze age. Though she's already recreated matches and wrought iron, introducing technology isn't going well because she was born a slave (oops) and having escaped, wants nothing to do with so-called "civilization." Asgotl was a whale when he died. The Gods reincarnated him as a griffin and expect him to have the same role he played in his previous life: to keep a reluctant prophet from walking off the job. If only they had remembered to tell him about it. Revised update schedule will be once a week on Saturdays, noonish Mountain Time (in North America)

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!

Sir Grace Wachinga, Order of the Hatchet
Grace Howard, a tough street girl in Virginia could become a knight -- if she survives her education. She learns to fight and be a refined lady. She finds good friends, vicious enemies, and finally love and family. The Knight Riding School produces young knights capable of protecting victims the FBI and other agencies cannot. Police policies do not bind them. Carrying swords, knives, and other medieval weapons, they wear bulletproof vests, and use their horses and wolves as fighting and survival partners. I post a chapter about every two weeks, not for the writing part but for editing but because the editing process is so demanding. I give great thanks to those who have helped me learn the art and craft of writing a story, so easily told but written in blood.
