“Thank you ranger, I will.” Petra replied and curtsied as she had been taught.
Then she turned and walked away into town. Lark ran after her
“wait for me!” He called.
“Why should I wait for you rogue I am going to look around the city before going to enlist in the crew tonight. You are quiet superfluous to those needs.”
“Oh come on please?” Lark asked.
“I have saved your life twice today what more do you want from me ?” Petra turned on him.
“To buy you a drink!”he exclaimed coming to the idea. “I want to buy you a drink. For saving my life, twice. Although technically the second time I feel like that wasn't my fault.”
“Fine” Petra sighed. “You can buy me a drink and then I am walking around on my own” she emphasized the last three words.
“I couldn't let a lady walk around on her own.” Lark began
“Healing inst the only sort of fire I have” Petra snapped and fire erupted over her hand.
“Ok one drink and then you are on your own. Wow” Lark said backing down. Then, “You know you are going to have to actually be around people if you want to live on a pirate ship.
“Yes I know.” Petra replied.
“But you seem like you don't like that.” Lark said.
“People are not my favorite but fixing people is.” Petra responded.
“Still you're going to have to live all day around people you don't know. Now I haven't known you long but seems like that would drive you crazy.” Lark said.
“You are driving me crazy right now.” Petra turned into the first open bar she saw and walked up to the counter. “He is buying me a drink because I saved his life twice today and he will not leave me alone.” Petra mumbled flatly and gestured at Lark.

“Saved his life twice, you must fancy him then” the bar keeper laughed
“No” Petra said. A beat passed
“Right then two drinks then and the young lad is paying.” the bar keeper said.
The bar keep set the drinks down in front of them. And Petra began to drink hers not looking at Lark.
“So whats your deal?” Lark asked
“I do not know what you mean by that.”she replied.
“ You know the whole. 'I call people by their class, and I use fire magic, and I'm only interested in healing people leave me alone! Thing” Lark prompted.
“I like knowing and saying what a thing is. I love magic especially I like to use it to heal people and put them back together right. I do not like talking about stuff that is not those things.” Petra replied.
“but why don't you like people if you like helping people?” Lark asked earnestly confused.
Petra took a deep breath. This was not the first conversation she had had to have like this, it wasn't even the first one today, but it was proving the most painful. “You might expect me to be good with animals.” she lead.
“oh! But you don't look like you're good with animals.” Lark replied absurdly.
That was her limit. Petra downed her drink. “Good day rogue I expect I will see you this evening”
“Shit shit shit” Lark cursed, “i'm sorry i'm sorry I can see now that was rude please don't hate me!” He begged.
“Right now that is hard. Make it easier.” Petra said and strode out of the tavern.
As much as she did want to see more of the town she had been around people and talking to people and having to do things all morning and she could not process any of it any more. She walked to the Pig and Bell, got a room and lay under the covers focusing on her breathing and tapping lightly on her temples.

If she had had the capacity to notice she may have looked out her window to see several large crates all being packed into Curt's wagon and a tarp thrown over all of them making them seem to disappear. Before he and Bethany drove out of town.

No More Respawns
Synopsis: The first time Allen died, he was forced back into a living hell where death is temporary, and power is all that matters. With evil and depravity as the rule, tragedy becomes comedy and life becomes an act. Only a deal with a shady god can get him back to his old life, but what happens if there’s nothing left to save? Maybe hell isn’t so bad if you have infinite lives… until you don’t. Needless to say, it’s all fun and games until there’s no more respawns. Foreword: This story is meant primarily as an action adventure and secondarily as a dark and nihilistic comedy. It may not be readily apparent in the beginning, but that's what I have planned (I feel the need to emphasize the dark; don’t rage at me if it gets too ‘traumatizing’ or something). I’m going to take my time with this, so it won’t immediately inundate you with doom and gloom. This is also a comedy, remember? On that note, if for some cursed reason you just can't handle either the references or the jokes, I am willing to battle in the comments. Anyway, I still put a significant amount of effort into the system, so I hope you enjoy that part. It is a little bulky, I'll admit to that, but I wanted to try something new and its more fun when there's more depth to it. Regardless, I still have a lot of fun doing math in the middle of writing a fictional story (/s). I also want to see if I can keep from messing up the pacing. Many times, I end up going too fast because I'm afraid of the story getting boring, which tends to ironically have the opposite effect. I'm still learning I suppose; we'll see how things go. Lastly, please leave reviews and comments, they really mean a lot to me and (usually) help me improve considerably. I'll be asking for feedback in the polls and I do still check the old ones from time to time. Notes: The story takes a bit of time to develop; give it time if you're here for drama, grimdark, or antihero. The system is all blue boxes and I'm not half-assing the numbers. Chapters will be between 1k and 2k words usually. I always use the oxford coma, fight me. Might drop if rating falls below 4 stars, idk. It depends on how my life is going. Cover drawn by yours truly in MS paint. (I have skill, I know)
