*Ava's POV*
"It's time to leave Ava." Justin called from downstairs. Today was the baby shower.
"I'm coming." I said as I walked out of our bedroom. I went to the stairs and saw Justin standing at the bottom. He looked handsome as always.
"Hey." He smiled as I walked down the stairs.
"Hey." I smiled. I reached the bottom of the stairs and he wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me.
"You look beautiful as always." He smiled.
"You don't look to bad yourself." I smiled. He smiled and kissed my cheek.
"C'mon Mrs Timberlake let's get out of here." He smiled. We held hands and walked out of the house.
"You do know that I'm not Mrs Timberlake yet right?" I laughed.
"Yes but soon you will be,so I might as well get used to calling you that." He smiled. I smiled and we got in the car.
"I can't wait to be Mrs Timberlake." I smiled. He smiled and leaned over to me and kissed me.
"We better go or we'll be late." I said as he drove off.
"We won't be late, everyone else is simply early." He said with a British accent. I laughed at him.
"How do you always make me laugh?" I asked.
"I guess I'm just a funny person." He smiled.
"I guess you are." I smiled. We then arrived at the place where the baby shower was. When we walked in everyone cheered. It seemed like everyone was there. People hugged us and congratulated us.
"I don't think I've hugged so many people in my life." I laughed as we went to the drink table. Justin laughed and got me a drink.
"Fruit punch for you and a beer for me." He smiled. I smiled and we clinked our drinks together.
"Hey you two." Jimmy smiled as he and Nancy walked up to us.
"Hey!" Justin and I smiled.
"How's Annie?" Nancy smiled.
"She's been moving a lot." I smiled.
"Don't forget the weird cravings." Justin said.
"Justin they are not that weird." I laughed.
"What have you been craving?" Nancy asked me. Before I could answer,Justin answered first.

"She craves fried pickles dipped in mayonnaise, Potato Chips dipped in hot sauce and just plain mustard!" He said. Jimmy and Nancy looked at each other and back at us.
"That's gross." Jimmy laughed.
"Exactly!" Justin said.
"I can't help it! It's Annie not me!" I laughed.
"I feel bad for that baby." Nancy laughed.
"I know! My child is suffering in there!" Justin laughed.
"Hey,don't knock my cravings until you've tried them." I smiled.
"I don't want to try them." Nancy laughed.
"I will!" Jimmy laughed.
"You will?" I smiled.
"Yeah! Don't knock it till you try it." He smiled. I laughed and Jimmy and I high fived.
"You two are disgusting." Justin said.
"I agree." Nancy nodded. Jimmy and I looked at eachother and smiled.
"Don't knock it till you try it!" We both said at the same time. We both laughed and smiled.
"What ha be you done to her Jimmy?" Justin laughed.
"I haven't done anything Justin. That's all you." Jimmy laughed. I then looked across the room and saw someone I didn't expect to be here.
"What's wrong?" Justin asked me. He must've saw the shocked look on my face.
"My dad is here." I said. Justin gasped and looked across the room and saw my dad standing there awkwardly.
"I'll go talk to him." Justin walked away. I didn't stop him.
*Justin's POV*
I can't believe he's here. Who invited him?
"Hey." I said to him.
"Hey Justin." He said. I held out my hand for him to shake and he shook it.
"Congratulations on the engagement and the baby." He said.
"Thank you." I nodded.
"Though I don't recall you asking for my permission to marry my daughter." He said. Is he really going to start this right now?
"I don't recall it either. I did ask Alexis and Jamie since that is her mother and step father." I said.
"Well why would you include him? He's not even her father." He said.
"Because he means a lot to her." I said. Is he really going to do this right now?
"Why are you even here?" I sighed.
"What? I can't come to my granddaughter's baby shower?" He asked.

"No not after everything you've done." I said.
"What have I done Justin?" He asked me. I then grabbed his arm and pulled him outside. We walked to where all the cars were.
"Do you really want to go there?" I asked him.
"I haven't done anything wrong Justin." He said.
"Not yet you haven't. Ava is finally happy! This day means a lot to her and I. So can you please just leave?" I said.
"I have every right to be here as Jamie does." He said.
"I heard my name." Someone said behind me. I turned around and saw Jamie.
"Hello Jamie." David glared at him.
"David." Jamie Said.
"Leave now." I glared at David.
"No. I won't leave unless Ava tells me to." He said.
"Leave." We heard someone say. We all turned and saw Ava. She walked over to me and stood next to me.
"Leave now." She said.
"Ava please." David said.
"No. Leave." She said. He sighed and nodded. He then left us alone.
"I'm sorry babe." I said.
"No it's okay." She said.
"No it's not." I said. I looked over at Jamie and he nodded and left us alone.
"Babe I know that you want a better relationship with your dad and I know you're not ready for that. He hurt so much and it hurts me to see you're hurt." I said.
"I'm okay." She nodded.
"Are you sure?" I asked her.
"Yes." She smiled.
"I love you." I smiled.
"I love you too." She smiled. We then kissed and walked back to the baby shower.
"You okay?" Jamie asked Ava.
"Yeah. Thanks for being back there." She nodded. He smiled and hugged her.
"Anything for you." He smiled. He then kissed her lightly on the forehead and walked away.
"You have a pretty amazing step dad." I smiled.
"Yeah he really is amazing." She smiled.
For the rest of the party we chatted with people and opened gifts. Everyone had a amazing time. On the way home we rode in my car with the radio on and the windows down.
"Oh my God!" Ava gasped.
"What?" I gasped.
"I love this song!" She smiled. She turned it up and I realized it was the song 'More than a feeling' by Boston.
"I know this song!" I smiled.
"Sing with me!" She smiled.
" I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away" We sung together. When we would sing together our voices sound amazing. We both were smiling as we were singing.
" It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play more than a feeling
I begin dreaming
more than a feeling
'Till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away" We sung. As we were singing I held her hand.
" So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
As clear as the sun in the summer sky". Ava's hair was blowing all over the place and my hair was messed up because of the wind, but we didn't care.
" It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play more than a feeling
I begin dreaming more than a feeling
'Till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away". Ava laughed as she put her hair in a ponytail. It all was in her face.
" When I'm tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
And dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped away". We both hit the notes perfectly throughout the song.
" It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play more than a feeling
I begin dreaming more than a feeling
'Till I see Marianne walk away ". At the end of the song we both smiled and laughed.
"I love you." I smiled leaning in to kiss her.
"I love you too." She smiled. We kissed and she looked towards the rode but I was still looking at her.
"Justin!" She screamed. I looked forward and saw bright lights.
It all then went black.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

The Bronze Players of Recreation
The world of Creation has seen a recent explosion of what can only be called an adventurer’s culture over the past few decades. People who were once looked at as nothing more than lower class mercenaries rose to the ranks of heroes and legends as adventuring became recognized as an idealized lifestyle of overcoming hardship and finding triumph. With the establishment of a guild-based government system on the continent of Terramania, adventurers were soon legitimized and adventuring became a phenomenon universally accepted around the world. Redlette had retreated from this world to live on Earth for the remainder of her years, having been born and outcast by the gods of Creation. However, upon meeting a friend that she treasured dearly, she found herself longing for a return to her world—she wanted to experience it properly and go on adventures with someone whom she holds dear. Putting a plan into action, she meets with her friend, an awkward, nerdy boy by the username of Herring who she’d only known through years of playing online games with him, and invites him to go on this fantastic adventure with her. An adventure in another world had always been an impossible dream for Herring, but when he suddenly found himself with the opportunity to embark on one, he knew it wouldn’t be as simple as books and shows made it out to be. Redlette was notorious for rushing into things without thinking them through, and he was flighty and weak. In the games they played together, they rarely grasped victory. They were losers through and through, both in hobby and life. Despite this, though, he takes the leap and sets off with Redlette into the world of Creation. Together they only had one goal: to have fun and go on the adventure of their lives. This time, they’d establish a guild of their own and be free to take on whatever exploits their hearts desired. This is the story of the founding of their guild. Author’s Notes: -My writing style is largely based off of the absurd amount of light novels I’ve read and anime I’ve watched, so it may come off as cartoonish or exaggerative at times. If that isn’t your thing, I’d steer clear of this story.-Not an MMO story.-No numerical stats.-Relatively slow pacing.-Posts are between 2000-5000 words weekly after Chapter 1.
