YOU STARE AT the hole, at your father-in-law and a man you saw as your best friend, not to mention the green disaster man destroy your country, your home. The place you had built up with the love of your life, fought to protect so fiercely, and then, it all fell apart. You wonder where it had all gone wrong, what point had everything gone to shit? Contrary to popular belief, you don't believe it to be when Wilbur and Tommy lost the election, in fact, you think it may have been a good thing that Wilbur hadn't gotten the power position, or, you had until they got kicked out and Wilbur had gone buck shit mad. Maybe if Schlatt hadn't kicked them out, everything would have been fine. You could sit with your fiance and stare at the night sky, picking out constellations as you so often did before.
"Come on then, Will, show me a constellation that I've never seen before" you teased him, for how could he try to upstage you when you had spent hours upon hours mapping out the stars, watching the sky and just memorising every little thing about it. The world above fascinated you, it drove you to build a tower so tall you could stand among the clouds, although it took you a good while to make it.
"Why should I look up there when all the stars I need are right here in your eyes?" he asked, leaning in to kiss your forehead, soft and gentle, pulling you into his lap as you huff, although giddy, and instead start to point the constellations out to him.

"That's the big dipper, and over there? That's Ursa Major." you start rambling off about the sky, and every little fact you know about it, failing to notice how he didn't pay attention, instead watching how happy you seemed, the smile that graced your face made him feel invincible like nothing could stop him, and again he had faith that things would turn out well, he just needed a place where he could keep the people who meant the most to him, you, Fundy, Tommy, Tubbo, Niki, everyone he cared about safe... and what better place to do that than a country of his own? He decided then and there that that was exactly what he was gonna do.
You run your hand over the fence, you feel anxious, you feel sick, god fucking damn it. Dream, you hated him so much. Every step of the way, he fucking ruined your life. He used to rule you, then you started L'Manburg, he fought you, you're free from him, he corrupts the love of your life and breaks his fucking mind! He drove Wilbur so far off the fucking brink of insanity that he blew up L'Manburg, the second fucking time! Wilburs gone now, all you have is Philza, Tommy and Fundy, that's all you have left of him. And what does he do? He exiles Tommy! Ghostbur too! You hate him with everything you have. Your own friend is fucking destroying your country! You want to hate him, but at least he has a valid fucking reason! You always knew he hated governments after all. But Dream? Dreams just a fucking asshole.
"Wilbur?" you ask quietly, leaning against a tree as you watched him pace wildly. Tommy had told you what he'd started to think, so you left Manburg as soon as possible to get over to him. You walk over, putting your hand on his shoulder, a feat slightly difficult because he was taller, but he was hunched so it wasn't too bad. He looks at you, eyes wild as he slapped your hand off and pushed you away, taking a few seconds and blinking before he recognised you, his eyes dilating a little as he pulled you into a hug.

"[Y/N], [Y/N]... I'm so glad that you're here, my dearest, now you're here and you can stay and be with me and I can protect you and you won't get blown up..." He mumbles into your hair, you startle.
"Wilbur? What do you mean blown up? Why would I get blown up?" he hushes you, running his fingers through your hair and just reminding himself you were there, you were real and right in front of him. He kisses your nose, softly, smiling down at you, a smile so soft and sweet and genuine that you just can't help but acknowledge it with one of your own. This was your Wilbur, this sweet, kind man... But you can't forget what he had done, what he said.
"Will, please, what did you mean?"
"Well, isn't it obvious? Tommy and I, we, we're the bad guys! You've seen Schlatt as a president, and tell me, is he a good one?" He asks this so genuinely that you can't help but shift, uncomfortable.
"He... He's not a good man. He's an asshole quite frankly, he only taxes Niki and I because we're the only two brave enough to stand up to him... however. He. Well. He is a good president. The country... it's doing fine." your fiance seems hurt by your statement, but what were you supposed to do? Lie to him? No. You wouldn't do that.
"And that's why I'm going to blow it up." He states, releasing you from his hold as he starts to walk into Pogtopia, not looking back to see if you followed.
"It doesn't have to be that way!" you cry, watching him retreat. Your breathing quickens.
You've lost him.
That.. wasn't a fun memory, you look down at the bedrock that was now in plain sight, glance over at Niki who was burning shit down, seemingly as panicked as you, if not more. Neither of you believed in this "Ghostbur" fellow, ghosts didn't exist. Tommy was just, struggling to cope. You understood that. You were too. It hurt. It hurt so much. You missed him every day, sometimes you could swear you saw glimpses of him. Maybe... maybe you should go join him, just jump down, hit bedrock, lost your second last life... but you'd still have another. It would be worth it. The others... they don't need you. You need to see him again. You just. You need him, you need to get to him! You take a step closer to the pit
"[Y/N]? My love? What are you doing?" You hear his voice, although slightly higher pitched and, well, echoey.
"Great. Great. Now I'm hearing things" you mutter to yourself. You look back, but startle when you see the ghostly form of the one you loved above all else.
"w...Will?"
"Huh? Oh! No, I'm Ghostbur! And you're [Y/N]! You're one of the people I remember very well! Every moment with you was happy" He smiled genuinely
"I've been looking for you for a while! And I finally found you! I'm so happy!" He laughed, rushing over to hug you, it startled you how physical the ghost was, while it wasn't as heavy as Wilburs hugs, and it was cold, it reminded you of him, and you couldn't help but sink into it. Things may not always be okay but. Maybe for now... you could continue on.

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
