"When Aro wants someone from a coven, it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime" explained Eleazar.

"So he's done this before?" asked Bella.

"It happens so rarely, I never realized it was a pattern" said Eleazar.

"Apparently he always pardons one person whose thoughts he claims are repentant" said Carlisle.

"This person always has an ability" said Eleazar. "And they're always given a place with the Guard"

"This is all about Alice and Emma" said Edward.

This made me look up and Jasper tense up.

I laid my hand on Jasper's and squeezed his hand.

"He has no one like them" said Edward.

"Which is why she left" said Bella.

"Why does he need witnesses?" asked Emmett.

"To spread the word that justice has been served" said Alistair. "After he slaughters an entire coven"

"Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving" said Amun.

"And where will you go?" asked Edward. "What makes you think they'll be satisfied with Alice and Emma? What's to stop them from going after Benjamin next? Or Zafrina or Kate or anyone else with a gift? Anyone they want. Their goal isn't punishment, it's power. It's acquisition. Carlisle might not ask you to fight, but I will. For the sake of my family. Jacob stood up.

"The packs will fight. We've never been afraid of vampires" he said.

The Denali coven stood up.

"We will fight" said Tanya.

"This won't be the first time I fought a king's rule" said Garret.

"We'll join you" said Benjamin.

"No" said Amun.

"I will do the right thing, Amun. You may do as you please" said Benjamin.

"We will stand with you" said Senna.

"So will we" said the Irish coven.

I looked over at Peter and Charlotte, who both stood up and nodded in agreement.

"That didn't take much" said Vladimir.

"Shut up, Dracula" I said. "I'm still debating on screaming your head off"

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that" said Edward.

"Maybe we should run away too" said Jasper when we were home.

"Jazz, we can't. They are our family" I said.

"Emma, I told you before. You are my priority" he whispered and touched my face. "I don't want you to get hurt"

"And I don't want you to get hurt" I said and leaned into his touch. "But I would never forgive myself if our family got hurt, because I wasn't there to help them"

"Why are you such a good person?" he asked and I smiled.

"I could ask you the same thing" I said and softly kissed his lips.

"Aro will want us incapacitated before he attacks" said Jasper to our family when we tried to come up with a plan. "Jane and Alec will try to take out Emma and Edward first, because they can anticipate their moves"

"Too bad we don't all have your shield" said Garret to Bella.

"Doesn't help me fight, though" said Bella.

"No, but you could help the rest of us, if you could project it" said Tanya.

"What do you mean?" asked Bella.

"I mean shield someone other than yourself" explained Tanya.

"Is that possible?" asked Bella.

"Gifts can be developed. Over time" said Carlisle.

"At first, mine was just in my palms" said Kate. "Now I can radiate it all over my body"

"How do you do it?" asked Bella and she grabbed Kate's hand. "Tell me"

Something was happening, something came out of Bella.

"I think she needs something to motivate her" said Kate.

I smiled, I was the one closet to the power of Jane.

"Emma, stop enjoying this so much" said Edward.

I gave him the mother of all headaches and he fell down on his knees.

"Emma!" said Bella and I stopped giving him the headache. "I'm sorry. I said that I wasn't ready"

"Dude, you're not motivating her" said Emmett.

"You want to try?" asked Edward.

"Oh, no. I'm so enjoying this, lover boy" I said. "Don't want it to be ruined by some gorilla"

Jasper and his friends laughed.

"I really like her" said Peter.

"Ready now?" I asked and Bella nodded.

I gave Edward the pain again, and again he fell down on his knees.

"Emma!" threatened Bella and Jasper stepped closer.

"Relax, Bells" I said. "I'm not gonna kill your husband"

"You seem to lack incentive" said Kate. "Shall I go see if Renesmee's awake?"

"Are you crazy?" said Bella.

"All right" said Kate. "Emma, please do full power, I know you're holding back"

"Busted" I said. "No hard feelings"

Bella nodded and I gave Edward the pain again.

But this time, he managed to stay up.

I stopped.

"It's painful, but it's bearable" said Edward.

"Okay, we should go again" said Bella and I smiled at the idea.

"Jasper" said Edward and I shook my head.
