carnival everything went to complete and utter shit.

Mia had spent the weekend with Fez, trying to get the image of Maddy and Nate's situation out of her head. She knew it was wrong that she was trying to forget what she saw but she couldn't forget what she saw. It played over and over on a loop in her head.

That resulted in her barely getting any sleep all weekend, tossing and turning in her bed all night. Fez noticed it while they spent time together at her house or his. Mia blamed it on school and basically all her extracurriculars. She hated lying to him.

and like any other day Mia was walking into the building with Maddy. Their vibe was definitely off though. The two girls had maybe exchanged five words to each other, not only was it noticeable to them but also their friend Kat.

"What are you the Unabomber?" Kat laughed, looking at Maddy's outfit.

"What are you a dominatrix?" Maddy shot back.

Mia ignored their conversation, plugging in her headphones while walking ahead of them into her class the same class she had with Maddy.

She sat down in her seat, putting her head down for a minute until she felt a tap. Mia looked up to see it was Maddy.

"Hey, Are you okay?" She asked.

Mia sighed, "Let's go to the restroom?"

Maddy nodded and let their teacher know that they were both going to go to the restroom before class started and to not mark them late.

The two girls walked to the restroom, luckily it was still early and no one was in it.

"So are you going to pace or are you going to let me know what's up?" Maddy asked.

Mia looked up at her best friend, "Take off your hoodie."

Maddy's face went white. "Huh?"

"Take off your hoodie Maddy."

"What are you even talking about Mia?" Maddy asked trying to act clueless.

"I saw what happened at the carnival Maddy. I saw what Nate did to you." Mia walked up to Maddy.

The Mexican girl backed up, "You don't know anything Mia. It's not what it looked liked."

"Maddy he was abusing you, he choked you. We need to tell the cops or someone." Mia said.

"No! No. You aren't going to tell anyone, he loves me. He didn't mean it, he was just angry and confused."

"Confused about what? You finding dick pics in his phone? Maddy we need to tell someone, you can't just let this go." Mia exclaimed her eyes getting teary.

"You tell anyone and I will not hesitate to tell people something that you've kept hidden for years. Something that you don't want people to know, and I know you know what I'm talking about." Maddy threatened.

Mia felt like the wind was knocked out of her, she hated this secret that burdened her and she hated Maddy for using it against her when she knew it was very traumatic for Mia.

"Wow." Mia laughed dryly. "Fuck you Maddy, don't come crawling back to me when you realize Nate doesn't actually love you." And with that being said Mia left Maddy in the restroom.

She walked into her class grabbing her bag from her seat and moving to the other side of the classroom far away from Maddy. She couldn't stand to look at her anymore, she wasn't the same Maddy she became friends with. Nate ruined her.

When the bell rang signaling that the period was over Mia was first out of her seat and out the door, trying to leave as quick as possible. She left fast enough to not notice that Maddy had not woken up from her sleep.

Her next class was Biology, which she had with Rue and Jules. She wasn't as close with Rue as she was before but they were still friends and she knew that she would be there if she ever needed her.

Mia gave a weak smile to the two girls who sat across from her.

Rue frowned, "You okay Mimi?"

Mia nodded fast, almost too fast. "Yup, just need to finish this lab." She put her head down to do her work trying to ignore the looks Rue and Jules were giving her.

It worked for the first 40 minutes of class until one of the student aids walked in, "Mia Colombo?"

Mia looked up, "Yeah?"

The student made her way towards Mia passing her a office summons, "The principal wants to see you right now."

Mia looked at the office summon confused then back at Rue and Jules. "Can you guys watch my stuff?"

"Yeah, of course." Jules nodded.

Mia got off her seat walking towards the main office. She looked around seeing medics and two police officers. Her mind drifted off into the worst possible scenario... they knew.

She slowly walked into the office passing by the secretary at the front desk moving her way towards the principals office. She walked in looking at her principal with a confused expression.

"Mia, thank you for coming can you have a seat please."

Mia nodded sitting down.

"So I don't know if you're aware but Madeline Perez fainted in class today and while medics were helping her they found bruises all over her neck. It looked like they were trying to be covered."

Mia stood quiet.

"I know you and Madeline are close, do you know anything about the situation or how it happened?"

Mia looked down at her hands, "No I don't. I'm not even friends with Maddy anymore so can I go? I'm missing class time."

The principal sighed, "Yes you may go, but if you do know anything please don't be afraid to tell someone."

Mia nodded, quickly getting up and leaving the office. She ran to the restroom opening a stall and threw up. She hated the position Maddy had put her in.

After sitting on the toilet for 5 minutes blankly staring at the ground Mia stood up and cleaned herself up. She wasn't going to let this ruin her, Maddy obviously didn't want her help so she wasn't going to focus on it.

Mia walked back into her class and sat back down in her seat.

"What was that about?" Rue asked.

"I don't really want to talk about it. It's not really worth it." Mia shrugged.

Jules nodded, "I get that."

Mia looked back at both of them, "You guys want to go rollerskating this weekend? I haven't been in a while and I know that we had fun when we did go Rue."

Jules and Rue exchanged looks.

"You guys can invite whoever you want." Mia smiled.

"Yeah, that actually sounds like a lot of fun." Jules nodded.

Rue nodded along agreeing to the plans too.

Mia smiled at the two and went back to her work. She hoped that Rue didn't catch on to her fake smile. In all honesty Mia didn't want to go rollerskating but she had to keep her mind busy, busy enough so that she wouldn't spiral.

Mia found out what had happened and how Nate was expelled. It didn't take much longer for the rest of the school to find out and then the whole town.

The whole school seemed to go into a domino effect and everyone was being informed on assault. This did not help Mia who was trying to move on and forget everything. Her school had each class watch countless films on surviving abuse which most of the students didn't really care because when you're a teenager you only care for so long.

Mia however did care, she cared about Maddy still and she could see the toll all of this had taken on her. It wasn't a good one, she seemed to be blaming everyone but Nate and there was no helping that if she obviously did not want it.

The week had went on and luckily it had ended.. which it felt like it never was.

Mia had found herself at the liquor store with Fez before she left to pick up Lexi for rollerskating. She hadn't completely recouped but she was doing a lot better.

"Ayo Fez." Mia yelled into the store like a guy.

Fez looked back and forth, "Ma, I know you're not talking to me like that."

Mia just smirked, "Sorry. Hi my love."

"Hi Mama." He smiled bringing his girl into a kiss.

For a moment Mia felt like she could breath, just being with Fez calmed her nerves. She had finally allowed herself to actually be with him and it felt nice. Yes, she wasn't being 100 percent open with him but her emotions were there and she felt content in that moment.

"I feel like I haven't seen you in forever." Mia murmured into his chest as she hugged him.

"It's only been a week baby." Fez laughed.

"Yeah, a week too long." Mia looked up at Fez pouting.

"You gonna get sick of me Mia watch."

"Yeahhhh, not gonna happen. We're gonna get married." Mia scrunched her nose up.

"I'm with whatever as long as it's with you Wifey." Fez smirked.

Mia stepped back, "You keep saying stuff like that and I'm going to make you a baby daddy don't play."

Fez stepped closer to Mia. "Like I said, I'm with whatever as long as I got you."

"I'm going to hold you to that later when I come over but right now I'm going to go hang out with the girls."

"With Maddy and them?" Fez asked.

"No. Rue, Lexi and Jules."

"I heard what happened with Nate and her, that's crazy how she doin'?"

"I'll tell you later baby." Mia smiled reaching to give Fez a kiss.

"Okay, text me when you get with them so I can know you're safe."

"Love you." Mia blew Fez a kiss as she walked towards her car.

"Love you more." Fez winked.

first of all i'm very sorry for not updating in forever like FOREVER, but i am a senior and i just did not have time hence why a good amount of this chapter is all over the place and just simply not best but i however am off school for two weeks due to the corona virus which is very serious and you should all be very safe and stay inside to make sure that you stay safe and healthy and so that everyone else can stay safe and healthy! so with this break i am HOPING that i can finally finish this book! so thanks corona virus but also no thanks? any ways i hope all of this mayhem ends soon and we can hopefully get back to some normalcy which doesn't look like the case right now but i'm hoping! love you guys and thank you for sticking with me and this book!
