《Better Luck Next Time - Fezco》4

Mia was never particularly academic, she wasn't terrible in school. She never really applied herself or tried to do well on tests. So it's hard to tell what's she would actually be capable of.
Walking into school on Monday, she was wearing a slightly more daring outfit. She wore a short black dress with a pair of fishnets and platform doc martens. Paired with this was a denim jacket which was quite worn and oversized, marking the outfit slightly more dress code appropriate. Not that anyone actually stuck to the dress code in their damn school. Mia made her way through the hallways, alone as usual.
Sure she had Kat as a friend but Kat had her own group of friends. They only really hung out outside of school hours. Mia didn't mind being alone though, she was used to it. Content in not having to socialise with people she would rather not. When lunch time approached Mia made her way round the back of the school. This is the area most kids would go to smoke or book up. Mia sat on one of the steps, pulling a cigarette out of her backpack. Mia wasn't dumb enough to smoke weed at school. So she stuck to cigarettes while she was still on school property. Besides, she would always smoke with Fez after school anyway. She smiled as she thought of Fez, finding herself doing that more and more often these days. Mia wished that he would just make some kind of move. But she also knew that he was worried because of their age gap. That, and the fact that he was her dealer. She saw another person make their way over to where she was sitting. It was a boy, he looked to be her age.
"Hey." He greeted, pulling out a carton of cigarettes. Bringing one to his lips, he started patting down his pockets and cursed to himself.
"Hey do you have a lighter?" He asked, she wordlessly handed him her pink lighter and watched as he lit the stick and handed it back to her.
"I'm Ethan." He offered his hand to her, which she ignored.
"Mia." She stated with a slight smirk on her face, not wanting to look like a total bitch but also not really wanting to talk to this random boy.
"Oh I know who you are." She raised her brows at this.
"Oh just meaning like , you know." He stuttered looking a bit flustered.
"No I don't, please do enlighten me."
"Well you know, you kind of have a reputation around here." He stated matter of factly like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"And what's that?" She questioned, standing so she was more eye level with him.
The boy didn't reply, Mia stomped out her cigarette butt under her heavy boot before turning to walk inside.
Ethan cursed to himself, he had wanted to talk to Mia ever since she had moved here. But was always too intimidated by her mysterious aura and how she always travelled alone. He had fucked it all up now. He had only meant that she was know for going to every party and getting fucked up. Ethan stomped on his half finished cigarette, he doesn't even smoke. He just wanted an excuse to talk to the girl and he knew that she went for a cigarette during lunchtime everyday. Great fucking going Ethan. He thought to himself.

Mia was relieved when the bell rang signalling that she could finally leave. She felt slightly giddy, walking towards Fezco's shop. She felt like the other night had signified a shift in their relationship. Like they were closer now.
Fezco was sat in his usual lawn chair, waiting for his favourite girl to come by like she does everyday. He was smoking his joint and he saw her as soon as she turned onto the street. She was impossible to miss. He held his breath as he took in her outfit, the dress exposing her long legs and the fishnets exposing some of her tanned skin. She grinned when she saw him skipping up to him happily, which made him smile.
"Yo kid, how you doin?" He greeted her as she made her way towards him.
"I'm good Fezzie, you?" She questioned cheekily using the nickname that he pretended to hate.
"I'm just chillin', cmon tell me about your day." He asked, genuinely interested in what the girl had gotten up to throughout her school day.
Feeling daring, Mia perched herself on his knee placed he lips around the lit joint he was smoking. Fezco felt himself tense at the action, this girl knew exactly how to drive him wild.
"Not really much to tell, except someone actually did try to speak to me." She chatted, Fezco was aware of her loner status at school. He also knew that if she wanted to she could make friends. Who wouldn't want to be her friend? He thought to himself.
Coincidentally in that moment a teenage boy approached the corner shop. Fez noticed this boy looked about the same age as Mia, he had short dark hair and wasn't that tall. Fez noticed this boy had his gaze on Mia and felt a strange feeling of anger towards the boy. Wrapping his arms around Mia's waist and holding her close to him.
Mia followed his line of vision and saw the boy approaching them. "Speak of the devil" she muttered. Fezco was confused.
"Hey Mia!" The boy greeted as he stood infront if them.
"What are you like stalking me?" Mia asked with a deadly serious face, the boy spluttered slightly.
"No! Nah I'm not.." Mia chuckled slightly, a smirk on her face.
"Relax, I'm fucking with you. Unless you actually are stalking me in which case you would be a terrible stalker." Fezco would normally find her witty little comments amusing but he wasn't laughing. Who the fuck is this? He thought to himself, Fezco knew all of her friends and this dude certainly wasn't one of them. And what the fuck did she mean stalking her?
" I just came to apologise, when I said that earlier I didn't mean like you had a bad reputation like you slept around." Mia felt Fez go slightly rigid beneath her at this comment. He was obviously pissed off.
"What did you mean then?"
She questioned, ignoring Fezco's questioning gaze.

"Just that.. well, you know. Your kind of a party girl, and your also like .. beautiful." Ethan continued, Fezco was in disbelief. Was this kid really trying to shoot his shot while she's literally sitting on his lap. He couldn't believe the audacity.
"Yo man, are you here to buy shit or not? Because if not can you fuck off and stop hitting on my girl?" Fez said calmly to the boy, but there was a warning in his tone. He usually didn't like getting in beef with people but this little punk was pissing him off.
"Oh- I didn't realise you had a boyfriend." Ethan said feeling slightly intimidated by Fezco's warning. "Listen dude, I thought she was fair game." Ethan explained quickly remembering that the man in front of him was a dealer and probably owned multiple guns.
"Yeah well she's not so, bye."
Ethan scurried off and Fezco felt himself relax again taking a draw from his joint and pulling the girl in his lap closer to his chest.
Mia was in shock from the whole ordeal, she never bothered to correct Fez because she really wasn't interested in Ethan. But she couldn't believe how jealous Fezco had gotten. In the short time she had known Fezco he had never been anything but calm and collected.
Mia found it quite attractive actually but now she was even more confused. She climbed out of his arms and off of his lap and he groaned at the lack of closeness, grabbing her by the hips and pulling her onto his lap again.
"Fez, what was that?" She questioned, turning sideways on his lap to face him.
"I didn't think you wanted that guy hittin on you so I sorted it for you." He explained simply, she sighed knowing he was right. Although she wished his reasonings would be more along the line of 'I was jealous'. She sighed in slight disappointment which surprised Fezco.
"You ain't interested in him, right?" He questioned, feeling unsure of himself.
"Oh god no, I'm not interested in him." Mia replied, I'm interested in you dumbass! She wanted to scream at him but she stayed silent. They sat and finished another blunt together. Fez filled Mia in about Jules who had recently moved to town, and her blossoming friendship with Rue.
Mia was shocked when he told her about what when down after they left the party. Nate Jacobs was a dick, he honestly embodies everything she hated in men. He was such a cliche. The two of them stayed that way for the next couple of hours, talking and smoking. With Fez occasionally having to go serve a customer.
"Yo, lemme give you a ride home." He told her after finishing up with his last customer. She agreed and they drove home together. It wasn't until she was in the car that she realised that she didn't even buy any drugs today. Mia wondered if Fez would even sell to her anymore. He's become strangely more protective of her lately.
Mia checked her phone and saw a see texts from her parents, saying they were working late. Not like she cared anyway. "Yo, you aight?" Fezco questioned when he heard the young girl sigh.
"Yeah, I'm good just really don't wanna be alone in that house." She muttered, not really aware that she was speaking out loud.
Fezco looked at her worriedly, "I can chill with you for a bit if you want?" He offered, she grinned and nodded her head excitedly.
When they got to Mia's house she lead him upstairs to her room immediately. "Oh shit, so it's like that?" He smirked as she led him into her room. Mia rolled her eyes at him and plopped down on her bed. Fezco's gaze examined her bedroom, like he was finally getting to know another side of her.
He noticed she had a lot of band and movie posters on her wall. She had a small desk with a mirror where he assumed she did her makeup or whatever.
"You're not gonna go snooping in my underwear drawer or anything?" She asked smirking at him as he glared at her.
"Yeah yeah your real funny" he approached her and before she knew it he had pinned her to the bed, and was tickling her sides. She tried not to scream as she kicked him away.
"You play dirty Fezzie." She glared at him, he smirked back at her. "You know I do, baby"
Mia felt her knees weaken as his words registered, "Uh.. I'm gonna go get snacks, my laptops there. Choose something to watch." She rushed out of the room as fast as possible. Mia was never normally nervous around boys, especially not Fezco. What was happening to her?
While Mia was gone Fezco looked through Netflix trying to find something they could watch. He ended up deciding on sponge-bob because he remembered she liked it from when she stayed at his.
When she arrived back in her room she joined him on the bed as they began snacking. Getting the munchies from all the weed they had smoked earlier.
"Yo Fez" she muttered, his attention was already on her though.
"Yeah?"
"Never mind.." she muttered as they turned back to watching the laptop screen. He didn't sant to press her any further so he just wrapped his arm round her as they watched the show.
