《Lost Without You (A Justin Timberlake FanFiction)》Chapter Twenty One

*Ariana's POV*
Alex and I laid in my bed as we watched the movie. We ended up watching Forrest Gump. This is one of my favorite movies.
"Momma always said life is like a box of chocolate, you never know which one you gonna get." Alex said in a southern accent just like Forrest's. The movie just ended.
"Run Forrest Run." I said in a southern accent.
"Why don't we just become southern?" He smiled at me. He is still using a southern accent.
"Good idea, cowboy." I smiled, using a southern accent too.
"That can be your nickname for me. Cowboy." He smiled.
"But we aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend. So we can't have cute couple names." I laughed.
"That's right." He sighed. "My plan is almost completed. Just wait for it." He smiled.
"I'll be here waiting." I smiled.
"Good." He smiled.
"Wait aren't we already southern since you're from Tennessee and my Dad is from there which would make me kind of from Memphis?" I asked him.
"Yeah I guess." He smiled. We both then laughed.
"Forrest Gump is the best movie." I yawned.
"Is someone tired?" He laughed.
"Just a little bit." I smiled. I kept my head leaned on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around me. He leaned his head on mine.
"If you want to go to sleep you can." He whispered to me.
"Sing to me first." I whispered. He nodded his head and kissed my temple. He then began to quietly sing. I closed my eyes when I heard his voice.
I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away
He chose to sing 'More Than A Feeling' by Boston. I love this song and he is doing an amazing job singing it.
It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play
I begin dreaming
'Till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away
He's making me love his song more than I did before this moment.
So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on

As clear as the sun in the summer sky
I slowly drifted off to sleep. I don't even remember hearing him finish singing one of my favorite songs.
*Justin's POV*
Jess and I were sitting in the kitchen when Alex walked in.
"Ariana fell asleep, so I'm gonna get going." He told us. "Thank you for having me over." He smiled.
"Of course, any time." Jess smiled.
"Can I ask you a question before I go?" He asked us.
"Shoot kid." I nodded.
"I was wondering if I could ask Ariana to be my girlfriend?" He asked us. Man when I heard him say 'if I could ask Ariana', I thought he was gonna ask for her hand in marriage! I about died of a heart attack! I thought I was going to have to kill this kid!
"Why are you asking us?" Jess asked him.
"Last time we dated it didn't really end well and I know after everything happened she went through a lot. I understand if you two don't think she's ready. I just want to make sure it's okay with you two." He said.
"I'm all for it." Jess nodded. "I just want her to be happy." She smiled.
"Thanks Jess." He smiled at her. They both then looked at me.
"Okay I just want to say, before you said the 'be my girlfriend' part, I seriously thought you were going to ask for her hand in marriage. I was ready to kill you!" I said. Alex looked nervous. "Alright you can." I nodded. He sighed with relief and smiled at us.
"Thank you both." He smiled at us.
"You're welcome." We smiled.
"I better get going. Bye." He said.
"Bye." We said. He then walked out of the kitchen and out of the house. I looked at Jess and we both began laughing.
"I thought he was asking for her hand in marriage too." She told me.
"I about had a heart attack!" I said.
"I think it's sweet that he asked us. It means he really cares about her." Jess smiled.
"Yeah I guess." I said.
"Justin be happy for her." She glared at me.
"I am! I am!" I smiled.
"Just think one of these days he'll might come again to ask for our permission to marry her." She smirked at me. I glared at my wife. She knows how I feel about this.

"I do not want to talk about that right now." I shook my head. I then got on my phone and on Twitter.
"Justin, she's going to get married one day. You should face the truth now." She said. Even though I'm not looking at her, I can tell she's trying her best not to laugh. I looked up and saw my serious faced wife.
"Just let it out Jess." I said. She then began to laugh. See, I told you. I know my wife to well. She then calmed down. "I know she's going to get married one day, but she's still my little girl." I said.
"Good point." She nodded. I glared at her, knowing she's trying to not laugh again. She smiled at me and walked out of the kitchen. I then heard her begin to laugh.
"Whatever!" I called.
"I love you Timberlake." She called.
"Sure you do." I chuckled. I heard her laugh one more time before going upstairs.
A few hours later , I sat in the living room watching Netflix. Jess has been telling me about this show called 'Prison Break' and she thinks I'll like it. So far it's really good.
Suddenly I heard someone walk into the room. I looked and saw a tired Ariana.
"Hey there sleepy head." I smiled at her.
"Hey." She yawned. She then sat next to me on the couch."Where's Alex?" She asked me.
"He left when you fell asleep." I answered her. She yawned again and slowly nodded her head.
"What are you watching?" She asked me as she looked at the TV.
"It's called Prison Break. Jess told me I might like it. I just started it. You want to watch it with me?" I said to her.
"Sure." She nodded. I smiled and handed her the bowl of popcorn I made a little bit ago. She smiled, took the bowl and began eating.
About halfway threw the show, She ended up leaning on me. I could tell she's tired.
"You can go to bed if you want." I said to her.
"Sh! No! It's getting good." She said to me. I looked at her and quietly laughed. I then turned my attention back to the TV.
This show is actually really good. Ariana likes it too, so I guess this could be a show we can watch together.
Soon the show was over.
"That was really good." I said. I looked down at my daughter and saw her sound asleep. Her head leaned on my shoulder. I smiled and kissed her forehead. I carefully got off the couch, picked her up bridal style and began carrying her upstairs.
"Dad." I heard her whisper as I walked us up the stairs.
"Sh. Go back to sleep." I whispered back to her. She slowly nodded her head and drifted back to sleep. I made it to her room and lightly set her on the bed. I then covered her with the blanket that was laying on her bed.
"Good night, Dad." She whispered to me. I leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"Good night, Ariana." I whispered back. I then left her room and quietly shut her door. I walked down the hall to Jess and I's bedroom.
"Look who it is." Jess smiled at me.
"I watched Prison Break. I really like it." I smiled.
"I knew you would." She smiled.
"Ariana watched it with me, but she fell asleep." I said. I then went to my walk in closet, went to the dresser and grabbed a pair of sweatpants. I changed out of my clothes and put them on. All I head on was the sweatpants, nothing else. I then walked to our bed and got in it, under the covers.
"Did you leave her downstairs?" She asked me. I shook my head.
"No. I carried her up to her room." I told her.
"Oh okay." She nodded. She then turned off her lamp on her side of the bed. "Good night. I love you." She said as she closed her eyes. I turned off mine and wrapped my arm around my wife.
"Good night. I love you more." I said.
"I love you to the moon and back." She said.
"I love you to Pluto and back." I smiled.
"You can't really go farther than Pluto, so you win." She laughed.
"Yes!" I said.
"We could go all night." She laughed.
"We sure could." I smiled.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.
