《Timberlake Tales》Dinner Date With A Single Mommy
Advertisement
I'm getting more and more excited about this date with Kathy. She and I are meeting up tonight at the library. We plan on going to the arcade to play some games. I didn't pick that date place, Kathy did. This is what I like about Kathy, she wants everything someone I dated wouldn't have wanted. She's different girl I never dated. She's fun, and funny too.
I did tell Andrea about the date, but in a more like, "Daddy's going on a friend hang out tonight. Grandma is going to take care of you when I'm gone." I told her in the middle of the day.
It comes to my surprise that she's okay with it. In the past, she refused to let me go on any friend hang out. Something's off.
I put on my best clothes I have, I want to impress Kathy. I slip on some denim jeans along with a red collar t-shirt. I do want to impress her, but I plan on a simple sexy look. Sliding on my sneakers, I hear the doorbell ring. I fastly run down the stairs to see Andrea open the door for Mom.
"Hey, honey. You ready for your date?" Mom asks placing her handbag on the couch.
"Mom!" I hushly argue. I glimpse at Andrea's way and she looks like she didn't listen to her Grandmother.
"What? I'm just asking." Mom returned her attention to Andrea. "You ready to have some fun, princess?" She kneels to Andrea's height.
"Yup! I have a list full of things I wanna do tonight. First we should paint our nails, then we should paint Buckley and Brennan's nails. If Daddy doesn't mind." She looks over at me.
"I don't mind." Andrea smiles and continues to tell Mom her wants tonight.
I quietly sneak out to finish getting ready. After brushing my teeth, rinsing teeth with mouthwash, a dash of cologne, fixing my hair one more time, and taking a few mints I'm ready to leave the house.
Heading to the door, Mom stops me and whispers, "Have fun with Kathy. I hope that she's worth taking her on a date. Oh, and don't forget to tell me about how your date went and I hope to meet this lovely lady soon. I love you, Justin." She kisses my cheek.
I smile. "I love ya, too." And kiss her back.
"Be a good boy, be a gentleman."
"Always will be one, Mom." Then I leave out the door.
***********
"HA, HA, HA!" Kathy laughs, once I again I lose to her at another arcade game.
"Okay, okay. You got me." I get out of the look-a-like car seat and lead Kathy to the food court. "You getting hungry?" I ask her taking out my wallet.
"I'm starving! Help me, J!" She begs.
I grin at the same time shake my head. This woman can be so sarcastic. "That's alright. Let's get some food."
"Good. You're paying." She says.
"I was planning on paying either way." I laugh.
"Were you?" She questions. "I want pizza. Make it two. I want one with cheese and the other with pepperoni." She says before leaving to find a table.
"Fine, bossy face." I laugh it out.
I order the pizzas along with some soft drinks. Kathy and I take our seats at an empty table Kathy picked out. Kathy takes a sip from her Strawberry Fanta drink. "Are you having fun?" She asks while taking a bite of her pepperoni pizza.

"I haven't had that much fun in a long time. Ever since my ex-girlfriend left me with Andrea. You?" I eat pieces of her pepperoni pizza.
"I'm having fun. Loads of fun. To tell you the truth, I haven't had that much fun ever since I had Tommy. I was sixteen when I had Tommy. You can say I wasn't the most obedient girl." She paused.
"What happened to Tommy's father? Did he leave you guys like Britney did to me?" I ask, but I think Kathy has taken that personal since she looks like she wants to tear up.
She licks her lips. "Tommy's father died three years ago. He died of cancer, leukemia for specifics. Died so young, we couldn't celebrate our first anniversary. He was the love of my life. That's part of the reason I never dated much. I didn't want to leave my husband, Tripp. I still think about him, but you kind of make me stop think about him. I don't know you make me feel something way different from whatever Tripp made me feel." Kathy brushes out the tears that fall from her watery eyes at the same time smiling at me.
I use my thumb to move that tear that falls down her smooth light tan skin. "Thanks, Justin. You're such a great guy."
"You for real?" I ask. Trying to slightly show off.
"You want me to prove it to you?" Kathy raises from her chair and walks to me.
"What's there to—" I begin, but Kathy's lips shut me before I can speak.
I kiss her back, pulling her to me. Kathy starts to peck my lips several times before letting go. "God, I've been wanting to do that ever since I saw you yesterday." She confesses.
She leans back and shyly excuses herself to the restroom. I'm astonished by this kiss. I never had a girl kiss me like how Kathy kissed me. It was amazing and I'd love to kiss her again. Maybe this is my chance to kiss her again. Kiss her like I never kissed anyone else.
I wait for Kathy to return from the restroom, and when she returns I make my move and kiss her this time. I feel she was scared at first but gives in after a few moments. This soon turns into a full make out that we leave before we do anything that wouldn't be appropriate in front of the public.
***********
Kissing Kathy one last time before fixing my clothes. "Wow, wow. Where did you find those moves mister?" She says smoothing out her black halter tee.
"You can say I'm a very talented kisser." I run my fingers through my hair while sitting properly in the car seat. Let me tell you making out in a car is fun but at the same time it hurts your back.
"Uh-huh." Kathy re-does her messy bun like the one she had earlier.
I try stretching a bit, it's felt like we have been in the car for a very long time. I mean how long did we make out in my car?
"Oh, shit! It's late." Kathy exclaims while looking down at her watch.
"Late? It's still early. Wanna do another round? I promise you this time it's going to be better than the last make out." I move closer to her.

"I'm sorry, Jay, I can't. Tommy can't sleep without me. He needs me just like Andrea needs you." Kathy kisses me one last time before leaving to her car. "I'll call you, okay?"
"Yeah." I reply.
***********
"How did it go?" Mom asks entering the living room.
"Perfect, I didn't want to leave her. I wanted to stay with her." I say never breaking a thought of her.
"That's good. You guys came back early." Mom glimpse at the wall clock.
"She had to deal with her son. He has trouble sleeping without her."
"Is that why you feel down? She left for her son and not with you?" I see her pull out a Mountain Dew drink from the refrigerator.
"I don't know. I just feel empty without her. Is that normal? Come on, I just met her a few days ago." I lean against the kitchen island.
Mom opens the can of soda. "I don't know what to say, honey. Just takes time to really understand what type of feeling you have for Kathy." She takes a sip from her soda.
"Where's Andrea?" I ask changing the subject.
"She's upstairs watching the Sound of Music. Is something going on with her? I feel every movie she wants to watch involves a mother and daughter relationship. Like tonight she wanted to watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, then she wanted to watch Matilda, then Little Women. Do you get what all these movies have in common?" Mom sets her soda on the kitchen island.
"They're all about women?" I guess.
Mom shakes her head. "Yes, but Justin she wants a mother. She wants a mother that'll accept her and love her. She feels lonely. Even whenever you were on tour." I sigh.
"I think it's best you talk to her about this." She takes her soda into the living room. "I'll be here if you need me." She grabs the tv remote and begins scrolling through the channels.
I huff and made my way upstairs. Thinking about Andrea wanting a mother makes me believe that Kathy can have a chance to feel accepted by my daughter.
I knock on her door, looking at my beautiful blond daughter laying on her bed cuddle up with her Wish Bear, Care Bear. "Come in." She quietly says.
I enter the room hearing Julie Andrews singing. "Hey, baby girl. Did you have fun tonight?" I near her at a slow pace.
Andrea sits up a bit and makes room for me to sit next to her. "I did, Daddy." She clutches her bear more. I join her on her bed watching the movie. I rest an arm on a pillow as I watch the movie.
A few minutes of watching the film, Andrea goes ahead and asks about my date. I'm not sure how I could tell her it was amazing without grossing her a little bit. So I simply tell her it was fine.
Once the movie ended, and credits begin to run, Andrea asks another question that got me nervous to answer. "Daddy, did Mommy ever love me?"
"Honey, we've discussed this already. Do you really have to ask that again?" I go to the tv and take out the disc out of the DVD player.
"I don't know. I always see normal girls spend their days with their mommies. Mommies that love their daughters. I wish I had a mommy who loves me and wants to spend time with me." Andy begins to crack her voice like she's about to start crying.
"Princess, please don't cry. You don't need a mommy. You have me. Think of it like boys who have a mommy but don't have a daddy." I kneel in front of her.
"Daddy, they must feel the same way I feel. They never get to have a daddy. I never get to have a mommy." She sobs.
I pull her to me and let her cry in my arms. I rub her small back. "Shh. It's okay." I whisper.
"Daddy?" Andy speaks.
"Andy?" I smile.
"I wanna meet Kathy." She says quietly.
I freeze. Isn't it too early for Andrea to meet Kathy? "Andy, don't you think that's a little bit too early?"
"Isn't she your 'friend'? It's not like she's your girlfriend or is she?" She caught me.
"My maybe soon-to-be girlfriend." Andy removes my arms from her.
"Daddy's likes Kathy." She sings.
"No, I don't. Why would I like a girl who has blue hair who's young for me?" I cross my arms.
"Blue hair? She sounds pretty cool. I've never seen someone with blue hair. Is it natural?"
"No, she dyed it honey." I bring her back and start to tickle her.
"Daddy!" She giggles as I get her on the floor.
Minutes pass, I tuck Andrea into bed. Kiss her goodnight, turn on her nightlight and leave to my bedroom. I know Mom is sleeping in one of the guest rooms so I don't check up on her much.
I grab my iPhone and call Kathy.
Kathy: Hello?
Me: Hey, beauty. How's Tommy doing?
Kathy: He's doing fine. Just fell asleep. How's Andrea?
Me: Like an angel. I have to tell you, Andrea really wants to meet you. She says you sound really cool from what I told her you have blue hair.
Kathy: Really? I think she's a cutie.
Me: She is. When do you think you can meet her?
Kathy: Um, let's see. I go to school Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. And I work Monday afternoons, Tuesday and Saturday mornings. I'm available all day on Wednesdays and Sundays. You choose.
Me: Wednesday will be fine. I think Andrea really wants to meet you as soon as possible.
Kathy: Oh she will. *laughs*
Me: Will Tommy be joining us too? I kinda want him to meet my daughter too.
Kathy: Yes! Why wouldn't he? I'm hoping he doesn't tend to get too shy with your daughter.
Me: I'm sure they'll be fine. So it's settled, Wednesday, afternoon?
Kathy: I'm up to that. See you then mister sexy-back.
Me: See ya then
I hang up and hop on the bed. Wednesday is going to be a blast I think then drift off to dreamland.
