list of life. Also crossed off of the list was finding out what happens if you fall out of the Bifrost.
Alex was with Loki and Thor as they began to hack their way into the garage. 142 had gone to start up the revolution, as starting riots was 'fun for her'. Bruce, not wanting to be on the violent side of things, accompanied her.
"Hey, so listen, we should talk." Thor broke the silence.
Loki shook his head. "I disagree. Open communication was never our family's forte."
"You have no idea. I've quite the revelation since we last spoke.
Loki finally finished entering the code, and the doors slid open. On the other side of the door, guards were armed and ready. Loki and Thor stood on both sides of Alex, both holding guns. Alex, however, just stood with her hands out.
"Hello, boys."
Loki and Thor opened fire, as Alex froze guards from where she stood. As they blasted all of the guards, they moved forward into the next room.
"Odin brought us together, it's almost poetic that his death should split us apart." Loki dropped his weapon to type in another code. "We might as well be strangers now. 'Two sons of the crown' set adrift."
A guard came through the door as it opened, but Thor took him out.
"I thought you didn't want to talk about it?" Thor jabbed.
"Y'all pick the best situations for family therapy time."
They all boarded a clear glass elevator.
"Here's the thing, I'm probably better off staying on Sakaar."
Alex had no idea what Loki was up to, so she remained silent. But, she knew there was no way in hell Loki was being serious.
"This place is perfect for you. It's savage, chaotic, lawless. Brother, you're going to do great here."
"Do you truly think so little of me?"
Thor paused before saying, "Loki, I thought the world of you. I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me...I don't know, maybe there's still good in you, but let's be honest. Our paths diverged a long time ago."
Alex saw the hurt flash in Loki's eyes, and could tell he would mask his emotions.
"It's probably for the best that we never see one another again."
Alex looked at Loki, but he wouldn't return her glance. She could tell from patterns that right before Loki was going to betray his brother, he pushed him away so it wouldn't sting as much. She now grew nervous for what was to come.

"Hey, let's do 'get help'."
"What?" Alex asked.
"'Get help'."
"No." Loki immediately said.
"What is 'get help'?"
"It's great, it works every time."
"It's humiliating."
"Do you have a better plan?" Thor asked.
"Alex could flash the guards."
"You never fail to objectify me, Loki."
"We're doing it." Thor decided.
"We are not doing 'get help'."
A moment passed, and the elevator door opened. Thor had Loki strung over his shoulder like a rag doll, and screamed at the guards in panic.
"Get help! Please! My brother, he's dying--"
Thor flung Loki's limp body onto the guards, knocking them all the floor. Loki got up without help, brushing himself off.
"Now, that was an Oscar worthy performance, boys."
"I still hate it." Loki muttered. "It's humiliating."
"Why one's the ship she told us to get?" Thor asked.
Loki pointed to a solidly built, sleek aircraft. "The Commodore."
Alex walked behind them as they admired the ship. She then saw Loki clone himself, his real self walking over to the control panel. His clone stayed next to Thor, but Thor quickly noticed.
"Oh, Loki." He sighed.
"I know I've betrayed you many times before, but this time it's truly nothing personal. The reward for your capture will set Alex and I up nicely."
Alex narrowed her eyes at him.
"Never one for sentiment, were you?" Thor smiled sarcastically.
"Only with her." Loki nodded to Alex, who was still angrily confused. "Easier to let it burn,"
"I agree."
Thor held up a small remote, to which Loki's face dropped. Loki quickly gathered that Thor had secretly placed an obedience disk on him. Thor pressed down on the remote, and Loki began to seize. Alex ran over, her anger diminishing as she saw him visibly in pain.
"Oh, brother, you're becoming predictable. I trust you, you betray me. Round and round in circles we go."
"Thor, cut it out!" Alex didn't touch Loki's seizing body, but hovered over him.
"See, Loki, life is about growth. It's about change. But you seem to just want to stay the same. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you'll always be the God of Mischief, but you could be more." Alex looked at Thor, who was also masking his hurt.
These boys have superb communication skills, she thought.

"I'll put this over here for you," Thor tossed the remote, which Alex scrambled to get. "Anyways, I've got places to be, so good luck to both of you."
"Wait, Thor," She breathed, but he had boarded the ship.
She clicked the remote, causing Loki to double over in pain. He breathed heavily, and she watched Thor drive the aircraft away. She walked over to Loki, kneeling down next to him.
"Loki, what the hell is wrong with you?" She sighed.
"I--"
"No, no, it was rhetorical."
She turned quickly when she heard footsteps. A rock-man looking thing was approaching, with a bunch of other creatures at his heel. Alex stood quickly, blocking Loki, but the rock-man held his hands up.
"It's alright," He said softly. "I'm Korg. We're about to jump on that ginormous spaceship. You wanna come?"
Loki stood then, brushing himself off. "You do seem like you're in desperate need of leadership."
"Why thank you." Korg pleasantly replied.
"Yes," Alex rolled her eyes. "We'd love to come."
"Alright, well, give us a minute we'll have the ship up and running. What did you say your names were?"
"I'm Alex,"
"I am King Loki of Asgard--"
"He's Loki. Just Loki."
"Son of Od--"
Loki was cut off by Alex elbowing him in the ribs. She painted a sweet smile on her lips as Korg happily nodded, walking off to the large ship.
"I'm over your shit. You keep quiet until we board the ship."
"Yes ma'am." Loki muttered, the wind knocked out of him.
Alex observed the group of creatures, wondering what their intentions were. Korg was oddly nice, which was unexpected considering his appearance. It took them about five minutes to get the ship running. Alex and Loki hesitantly boarded, but quickly trusted Korg.
"Where to, boss?" Korg happily chirped.
"Asgard." Loki responded. "We've got unfinished business there."
"Right on."
The ship soared off into the air, inconspicuous to the guard ships. They sailed smoothly over the water, and toward the gigantic wormhole.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you of my plans." Loki spoke.
"I just don't get it."
"I.." Loki trailed off, as if it pained him to say. "I want him to hate me."
"Loki, why would you want that?"
"So when I betray him it doesn't hurt."
Her thoughts had been correct. She took his hand, holding it over her heart.
"Why did you betray him? Look where it got us."
"It doesn't matter." Loki said, looking at his feet.
They sat against the ship wall in the back of the craft, as all of the creatures were up at the front. They stared in awe of the red smoke that emerged from the wormhole. Alex scooted toward Loki as the speed picked up and the ship jolted.
"We'll be okay," He whispered.
The ship shook, worse than any turbulence she had experienced. Once they safely were through the wormhole, they had a little ways to go before they reached Asgard. They soared through space, and the view was amazing. Alex marveled at the brightness of the stars that you couldn't quite catch from inside the Bifrost. Loki simply watched her in awe, amazed at how happy something so small made her.
Once she was done viewing the stars, she went back to sit next to Loki.
"When we get to Asgard, what's going to happen?" She asked him.
"We'll defeat Hela. We'll save the people of Asgard, and hopefully, the kingdom."
"And if we don't?"
"We'll take it one step at a time."
Alex rested her head on his shoulder. He let his hand fall on her leg, placing it gently. He loved the feeling of her touching him. Not even in an intimate way, he just loved to be in contact with her. He didn't let many people touch him, as he was scared his skin would be too cold. Alex didn't seem to mind, she actually liked it. She liked the small sting of ice that she felt on her fingertips when she touched him.
"I love you, Alexandra." He whispered.
She picked her head up, kissing him lightly.
"Please remember that, no matter what."
"I will, Loki. How could I forget?"
Loki looked like he was going to say something, but he remained silent. He responded by kissing her forehead as she laid her head back down. They stayed like that--silent and in each other's company--for thirty minutes. That was, until Korg walked back to them.
"Sorry to interrupt, but, you'll want to see this." He spoke.
They both stood up, walking to the front of the ship. The creatures were huddled around the front windshield in awe, but Loki pushed his way through them. Alex was pulled up there as well, and she was delighted to see what was in front of them.
They had reached Asgard.

Kitty Cat Kill Sat
Ownership of the last functioning piece of orbital infrastructure kind of puts you in a position of responsibility. The fact that there's a lack of thumbs in the process makes it a challenge. But challenge is, as far as anyone can prove, my middle name.

His elaborate clothing has been torn to ribbons, yet his skin remains unblemished. His face is peaceful, and tucked into the hand lying across his chest can be seen a solitary playing card. He is a Ludum Haeres. The last remnant of a Summoner. Numbered among those few capable of changing their destinies. The unseen rulers of the world known as Vesperia, and one of the most powerful creatures in existence. The woman knows none of this. And so, she picks up the card... This is my third novel on Royal Road, the first being "Beyond the Horizon's Eye", and the second being "The Dawnfire Archives". This story is something of a test in a new genre, that of CardLIT. We'll see how well it succeeds as the story continues. It takes place in a different setting than my other tales, with an entirely new cast of characters. It does, however, contain several ties between the stories. Average post between 1000 - 3000 words.
