《Agent 13 (Book 1)》24. I really don't like stalkers

Hey sorry about the long wait. I've been really busy what with Christmas coming up so fast. Speaking of Christmas...
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Or whatever other holiday it is you celebrate! For me it's Christmas.
"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" I look up to meet Jason's eyes, the look he's giving says he doesn't actually give a shit about my answer.
"No," I state calmly but firmly. I get the feeling that I'm not going to like this conversation. I raise my water bottle up to my lips, taking a drink.
"Cody likes you and wants to know why you don't like him back." I remove my water bottle from my lips as I stare back at him blankly.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that," I state.
"That's not an answer."
"I didn't hear a question."
"Why don't you like Cody?" He asks, his tone irritated.
"I thought he was gay," I reply flatly. He gives me a look.
"You thought he was gay?" he asks disbelievingly.
"Well he and Devin spend so much quality time together." I retort sarcastically. He gives me a deadpan look. "Unless of course, you're the gay one who's jealous." He scowls at me.
"I'm not gay." he grits out.
"You're in denial."
"I'm not-" he stops himself and pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Just answer the damn question."
"I have too much pride and dignity to answer a question like that."
"What the hell does pride and dignity got to do with this?" he pauses. "Unless of course, you're just stalling because you didn't even know."
"Of course I knew. I'm not an idiot, but I'm not looking for anything either. I don't want nor need a boyfriend." I retort.
"So you're just afraid."
"Afraid of what exactly?"
"Falling in love."
"No," I state calmly, my tone deadly. "I'm not afraid of falling in love. But he should be." I turn away from him, giving him the message that this conversation is over, I hear his retreating footsteps, and I hear another set of footsteps approach.
"Well hello there." I look up at the teenager swaying on his feet and holding two drinks in his hands. "You're really pretty." he slurs.
"And you are really drunk," I tell him before turning away from him, I see Zack walking up. The guy sits down next to me. I scoot away from him.
"I brought you a drink." he holds out the plastic cup to me.
"Thanks," I reply, sarcasm lacing my voice.
"She's with me," Zack announces as soon as he's close enough.
"I think that's for her to decide." The other guy slurs.
Zack grabs him by the front of his shirt. "What part of she's mine did you clearly not understand?" He growls out. I glare daggers into the side of his head. I'm not a freaking object.

I barely even register Zack's fist colliding with the other guy's face. In seconds, it's an all-out fight. I roll my eyes an glare at them in irritation as everyone else starts to gather round, shouting out different incomprehensible things.
"Are you going to stop this?" I spare a glance at Cody, who's looking at me expectantly.
"Am I supposed to?" I ask. He lets out a sigh and takes a step towards them.
Well now it looks like I have to break them apart. I place my hand on his shoulder pulling him back.
"I'll take care of it," I mutter, slightly disappointed. I shrug off my jean jacket, tossing it to Cody. I move towards them.
Zack's on the floor and the other guy gets up quickly and kicks him. Wow, this guy can't even throw a good kick.
I walk up behind him and tap him on the shoulder before taking a couple steps back. I barely give him enough time to turn around before my leg swings out full force, hitting him in the side of his head. Everyone goes dead silent.
"That's how you freaking kick,"I announce, more to myself than to any of them. I turn towards Zack.
"And I'm not a damn toy you can fight over and 'claim' whenever the hell you please," I growl out before taking my jacket back from Cody and stalking off, away from the bonfire.
I really hate parties.
"I'm not apologizing to anyone," I announce, seemingly to no one but I know he's following me, and I know he heard me.
"I'm not asking you to," he says as he falls in step next to me. I continue walking. "Where are you going?"
"I don't know." I shrug. "Anywhere but here at the moment."
He stays silent for a little while. "You don't have to answer this, but I saw a picture in your bag," I inhale sharply, which picture? "of you and some other guy, who is he?" I let out the breath I was unknowingly holding.
"So you've been snooping through my stuff."
"Are you going to answer the question?"
"You said I didn't have to," I say. He grumbles to himself under his breath. I sigh, before replying. "He was Agent 77, and the first and last boyfriend I ever had," I answer honestly, not making eye contact with him as he stares curiously back at me.
"He was on your team?" he asks softly.
"Yeah," I answer shortly.
"Was he the one who gave you the ring?"
"No." I reply, "He was, perfect I guess. He was everything to me and," I pause, trying to form the right words. "And he understood me better than anyone. He was the guy I figured I'd end up with forever." Cody stares at the ground as we walk, deep in thought but still listening. "My friends use to tell me that we were meant to be, that it was fate. I guess in the end the fates hated us."

"That must've been hard for you."
I shrug, "It was originally. But after that, the only description of me that you'd get from anyone was, 'heartless'. So I guess I just stopped caring after that." His stare burns into the side of my head. "There were some other Agents who thought that they could 'help' me" I rolled my eyes slightly. "They all gave up after ten minutes." I hear him chuckle quietly. "Except one, he just kept coming back no matter what I did. He grew on me I guess, we went on a few dates but nothing was ever official."
"That's the guy that gave you the necklace."
I nod. "His name was Mac. I use to tease him and call him Mackenzie whenever he mimicked me."
"How did he die?" Cody asks quietly.
"Again, the fates hate me. As soon as we became friends I was put on his team, but it didn't matter."
"Why not."
I suck in a shaky breath. "Cause within the next week they were all dead." He says nothing and just stares straight ahead. Silence grows between us, neither of us saying anything to each other but I can't seem to keep my mind from wandering to my conversation with Jason. I sneak a glance out of the corner of my eye at Cody, but I my eyes are drawn to something else behind him. The knife is flying through the air within a second.
"What the hell?!" He dodges it. I throw another knife. "Hey stop! It's me!" Hayden shouts as he dodges the second one.
"I know," I answer, before letting a third knife fly. He dodges it at the last second.
"What is wrong with you?!"
"I really don't like stalkers."
"I'm not stalking you." I give him a look. "I'm following you." he corrects me.
"Yes because that's so much better." I pull my phone from my pocket.
"What are you doing."
"Calling the police."
The phone is snatched from my hands. Cody stands off to the side, shaking his head at us like a resigned parent who can't control their kids. Hayden holds the phone up above his head, out of my reach.
"Give me my phone," I order.
"Jump for it." He says teasingly. I cross my arms over my chest before kicking his legs out from under him, snatching my phone from his hands as he descends to the floor. A clicking noise sounds to my left before he beings screaming bloody murder.
"Shut up!" I hiss, listening attentively, or trying to.
"You just knocked me to the floor and you're telling me to shut up?!"
"Shh!" I hiss again. He seems to notice the look on my face as my eyes scan our surroundings.
"What is it?"
"Where's your car?" I ask.
"What is it?" He repeats. I hear the clicking noise again.
"The sound of a loading gun. Run!" I yell out as I turn on my heels and head towards the parking lot, Cody right behind me, and Hayden behind him. Bullets whizzing by us.
There are several other pounding footsteps sounding out behind us. I duck behind a car on my left, Cody and Hayden duck behind another, across from me. Several things clag against the cars. I reach over and pick one up.
"They're not bullets!" I yell to them.
"Then what the hell are they shooting at us?" Cody asks.
"Tranqs." (Tranquilizers)
"Oh cause that's so much better." Hayden retorts sarcastically.
"Where's your car?" I ask him again.
"Down the street."
"What?!" I shout.
"There was no damn parking." I shoot him a glare. He holds his hands up in surrender.
"On my mark, we get up and run."
"What do we do about the shooters?" Cody questions.
"You have your gun?"
"Yeah."
"Then shoot back!" I tell him. "As for the tranqs, don't let them hit you." I pull my hair back into a ponytail. "GO!" I get up with Hayden and Cody following close behind. We continue running with the tranq darts flying past us in every direction. There's a thud behind me. I stop and turn just in time to see Hayden remove a dart from his leg.
"What did I just tell you?" I run over to him, Cody behind me.
"They're getting closer." He tells me. I remove a syringe from my boot.
"What the hell is that?" Hayden asks suspiciously.
"Oh calm down, this will help...I think."
"You think!"
"It's designed to counteract the symptoms of poisons and sleeping drugs...this is the same thing." I pause right before I stab it into his leg. I need to distract him first. "Although I'm not going to lie, this is sting like hell." I stab it into his leg before he can protest. He lets out a cry of pain.
"What the hell?" He shouts. "I thought this was supposed to help not kill me."
"Calm down you big baby."
"You just carry one of those around in your boot?" Cody asks. I open my mouth to answer only, I don't get the chance. I feel the prick in my neck and my hand quickly removes the dart, but there's a problem. This one is much bigger than the one they hit Hayden with.
My vision begins to blur and fade, I can barely make out Cody and Hayden's voices yelling out for me. I see several dark covered figures move in and fight with the boys before finally restraining them. I feel a pair of hands grab me before my world goes black.

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.
