《Lucky Kiss Number 13》Chapter 14

“Hello Derek. I would say that’s it’s a pleasure to see you again, but you and I both know that’s not true.”As I was giving him the fakest smile in the world, I could see that his eyes were filled with happiness. Quite surprising coming from him don’t you think? I was expecting some more, how should I say, a Jersey Shore drama?
This morning when I woke up, with a terrible hangover and no recalls of what had happened other then getting drunk, I might add. I decided to just go and see Chasity right away.
“Tessa, Drake. You both are here to see Chasity as I presume? Come right inside my humble home.”He guided us into the living where he motioned us to seat on the leather sofa.
“I’ll go get Chasity, and some beverages while I’m at it.”He said in a chirpy voice.
“Tessa, is it just me or is there something very wrong with him?” Drake quietly whispered into my left ear.
Something was off about Derek. I mean sure this could all be an act, but still. It was like he was an entirely different person. The sincerity in his eyes though. I’m just over thinking things right now.
“You guys shouldn’t be here. Oh God, I miss you guys so much.”Chasity ran towards us with open arms.
“I ran out of snacks kids, I’m going to the store and will be back in half an hour. Make yourself at home.” And then there were three.
“You’re coming home with us Chasity!”Drake started to scream at her, giving her a bunch of over protected brotherly speeches.
But Derek though, the sincerity in his voice.
“I can’t just leave my own father Drake! Not when he needs me the most! He’s very ill right now.”Chasity screamed in her defence.
“He’s a fucking lunatic who needs a trip to the crazy house.”
I was tired of them screaming back and forth. I had come on this trip to try to convince my sister to come back home, not have her ignore us for life.
“Chasity, what do you mean by ill?” I could see the look in Drake’s eye. He probably thought I was crazy for even asking her that question, in return I elbowed his ribs making him shut up.
“It’s kind of hard for me to explain.”
“We got all the time that you need.” I took her hand, squeezing them, letting her know that no matter what, her big sister will always be there for her.
“I was curious, about Derek I mean. I questioned myself, how could he do something so terrible with no emotions intact. So I did some digging myself. After looking through all the facts, it had hit me hard. My dad isn’t a bad guy, he really isn’t. He was diagnosed with the PTSD, also known as post traumatic stress disorder, that’s why he left the army. Eventually that PTSD, lead him onto the road of depression. With the whole mom won’t ever love him as much as he loved her back situation. This eventually triggered him into becoming bipolar. I convinced him to go to the doctor, where they confirmed my theory. He knew this great doctor who could possibly cure him up here, that’s why we moved. I don’t know exactly what yet, but I know that there is definitely some other mental illness that he has, the doctors just don’t know yet. Maybe a multiple personality disorder?”

“Mom really misses you Chasity. I know what you’re doing is great, but what if he hurts you?”
“I would never hurt her.” Another voice joined in.
I looked at the other side of the room to see Derek holding a bag. “I would never hurt my only pride and joy, I would kill myself if I did.”
“My mother was once your pride and joy, you ended up hurting her.” Drake hissed, while I tried to hold him back before both of us got stuck sitting in jail cells.
“I thought at the time that I was doing what was the best. I wanted to do whatever made her happy. She loved your father so much. She would cry herself to sleep wishing that she could be with him. In order to be with him, she would need to be dead. She wanted a perfect family, so you two would also need to be dead. One big happy family up in heaven.”
I stared at him in horror, grabbing onto Drakes arm for my life.
“I don’t think that way anymore though! I’m getting help, after getting out of jail, Chasity made me realize that I do have a problem. I’m being admitted into an institution tomorrow. Please don’t take her away, she’s all I have left.”
“You have your fiancé, you can always make more children.” I bluntly said, ignoring the ‘you’re going to get us killed’ look that Drake was giving me.
“Diamond and I didn’t work out. She was just going to make my life even more toxic then it already is.”
“There’s even a school for the arts here that I’ll be attending after spring break. I can finally see my dancing career come true.” Chasity added.
“Will you promise to call us every week, and visit whenever you can?” My brother’s soft spot finally opened, and so did mines.
“Yes.” We all started to cry, having a group hug. Eventually we started to catch up just for old time’s sakes. Eventually we had dinner at Derek’s house, surprisingly it actually tasted pretty good. We were even able to catch a movie in the living room. For once, me and my brother were able to be civil with Derek.
Before we left, I looked Derek straight in the eyes and said, “I swear to God, if you hurt her at all, I will come back here and kill you. And don’t expect me to treat you any different.”
“I wouldn’t expect that much after putting you through all of that hell. But thank you for trusting me that I could possibly change.”
“Whatever, I don’t do chick flick moments.” I mumbled before leaving his house along sided with Drake.

Once we got back to our hotel, Kaylenne and Drake were ignoring each other. Bits and pieces of the early morning drinking session started to slowly come back. Something about Kaylenne’s virginity and Drake?
“Hey Tessa, a couple of the guys from school are also vacationing here in Miami. They are having a bonfire down at the beach at 10, want to come?” Keaton said before chugging a carton of orange juice down his throat. One word, gross.
“Yea, sure. I’ll be ready in fifteen minutes. I ran back to my room, looking around for a sweater. I’ve been here for less than a day, and already my room looks like a garbage dump. I had no luck finding it at all. Tossing my white converse onto my feet, I decided to just give up on finding my sweater.
Once we got down to the beach, I recognized some familiar faces, while others were new. I was actually surprise by the amount of kids from our school that were vacationing here.
It wasn’t that crowded on the beach, since it was one of those private exclusive one. They even had a DJ playing pretty good remixes of my favourite songs
Keaton vanished off somewhere.
After talking to a couple of girls from my French class, I realized that I had to go find a toilet. They directed me to a cafe that was across the street.
After doing the deed, I checked myself in the mirror. Fixing any strands of flyway hair. Maybe I should buy a drink or something. I don’t think I want to get drunk twice in one day.
Before making my way out into the front of the cafe, I heard voices coming from the corner of the other hallway which lead to the back of the cafe.
“Keaton man, you take her virginity yet? How our little revenge plan going so far?”
“She’s not a virgin. This plan is so fucking stupid. I swear that we are acting like children here, using her as our scapegoat. She’s a girl with feelings you know? I mean what if the tradition is bull shit. We did slack off last year, we hardly showed up to practice.”
“Is someone getting soft? Dude, do you actually like her or something?” Another voice joined in.
“Fucking Keaton Collins is not soft ok?”
“Babe, maybe you’re just getting tense. When was the last time you got a good laid? How about I help you with your stress?” Some loud annoying high pitch voice said.
I had enough of listening onto their conversation. I should have seen it coming. That fucking bastard. How could I be so stupid? Thank God our relationship was only friends. A part of my heart ache.
Just forget about him.
My life has been shitty enough, just when I thought that it was finally getting better, it just had to tumble down.
I turned the other way, making myself out of the cafe. I just wanted to go back to the hotel, and just sleep. It was going to be a good ten minute walk back.
I hit face first into a hard chest. I looked up to see a guy who was at least 6 inches taller than me, with amazing grey eyes. He had a sheepish grin on his face.
“Hey pretty girls shouldn’t frown you know?” He said in a deep husky voice, “Aren’t you Keaton’s girlfriend or something? You probably don’t know me but I go to your school.”
“I’m not Keaton’s girlfriend, never have been never will be.” I said, gritting my teeth.
“I’m Noah Lyons.”
“Hey, I remember you. You’re on the lacrosse team aren’t you? Sorry I didn’t recognize you without your helmet. Aren’t you dating that girl who’s in my French class?” I asked him.
“Hey can I borrow your phone? I promised my friend I would call them, it’s kind of important.” I nodded, as I unlocked my phone and handed it to him.
“Hello there Tessa’s mom. How are you, I’m doing great thanks. I just wanted to ask you properly for your permission to take your daughter out on a date. It was very lovely hearing from you, bye!” He looked at me giving me a smirk, while I was in shock. “Does that answer your question Tessa?”
He did not just call my mother to tell her that.
Note: If you guys haven't seen yet, my previous upload was talking about the amzing trailer for this book. So please check that out.

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
