as you walk out of school, you see your best friend clay jensen so you run up to him and link your arm with his.

"hey jensen!" you smile at clay.

clay looks at his arm interwined with yours and starts to become nervous. "oh h-hi (Y/N). where's justin?"

"justin is picking me up from monet's when he finished basketball practice. wanna come with?"

clay would love to come with you, but he's afraid that justin would give him shit just for hanging out with you as friends so he declines your offer.

you sigh dramatically. "oh okay then jensen."

suddenly, justin walks up to you and clay and shoves clay's arm away from yours so he can wrap his arm around your waist.

"babe, practice got cancelled so lets hang out." justin kisses you on the lips, ignoring clay's existence.

"okay justin!" you kiss back and say goodbye to clay.

clay stops walking and he watches you laugh at something funny justin said as you wrap your arm tightly around justin. clay's heart sinks as he watches you with justin.

at that moment, clay realises he has feelings for you. after a year of getting butterflies and anxious, clay finally figures out why he has been like that when he's around you. he just thought that was his anxiety being triggered whenever he's around girls.

clay doesn't know what to do with these feelings and no way in a million years is he going to attempt to ruin yours and justin's relationship.

supposedly, clay will just have to accept that some things aren't meant to be.
