"You two need to go hoooome" Jeff looked at Jessica and I who were trying to argue with him about staying the night at the hospital

We had spent a good two hours with Jeff before a nurse strongly suggested we left to let Jeff rest after she suggested the idea an hour beforehand

"You have school tomorrow and it's getting late, y'all aren't skipping to stay with me and you need to sleep well" He continued

"Ugh why do you have to be so difficult" I groaned

"Because I care about your education and your health, now goooooo" Jeff answered me

Jessica made a face at him but bent down to hug him again which resulted in Jeff lifting her in bed with him again

"Promise me you'll go to school and only come visit me after school hours" He told her

"I promise" She mumbled as she hugged him tighter before getting out of his bed

Jeff looked at me next and I pouted as I went over to his bedside to hug him

Like he did with Jess, I got lifted up in the bed

"You promise me the same thing" He said

"I do" I promised him

"Good" He replied as he hugged me tighter

We stayed hugging a little while longer before I got out of the bed

All of the boys hugged Jeff goodbye and we walked out of his room, thanking his parents once again for letting us spend so much time with him

"Al, you riding with me back to yours?" Montgomery asked me as we all got in an elevator

"I think I'll ride with Jess and Alex instead, if that's okay with him, so I can explain what happened at school today" I answered as I looked at Alex for an answer

"Please do because I want to know why I would need to get questioned again" Alex told me

"You ok riding alone?" I questioned Montgomery as I figured Justin would ride with Zach since they came together and Zach is closer to him then Monty is

"Yeah" He answered "And yes I'll text you when I get home" He told me before I could even tell him which made me smile

We stepped out of the elevator and said our goodbyes before going into our separate cars

During the car ride to my house, I explained everything that happened with the cops and the supposed charges Bryce wants to press, to Jessica and Alex.

I was laying down in bed about to head to sleep when I heard the door downstairs being opened and closed

I got out of bed and was about to head towards the door when someone started walking up the stairs

"Althia?" My mom called out for me

"I'm in my room" I answered her trying to figure out why she was even home since she was supposed to be away with my dad for another 2 days at the same time I was thinking about how mad I am at her for letting the police question me

Soon my mom appeared in my room and I went back to my bed to sit on it

"Why do you look like you're ready to head to bed?" She asked me

"That's because I am ready to sleep, I was just about to call it a night" I answered

"Why, it's not even ten yet?" Mom questioned

"I'm really tired and haven't been getting much rest" I said

"Well maybe you should think about that the next time you decide to mess around with your friends late at night while your father and I are away" She replied as she crossed her arms

"Are you serious?" I looked at her "Are you seriously trying to tell me that you think I'm extremely tired because I was out late running around with my friends?" I asked her

"Althia, what's going on with you?" Mom questioned me, using her serious voice

"I'm just really tired and it's not because I was with my friends" I answered her, once again

"No that's not it and we both know it" She started as I looked at her confusingly "The last time you were acting like this we had to move, Althia, now tell me what's wrong and don't say that you're tired" She continued "You hide everything from me until it's too late for me to help you and I'm sick of it. We are not moving again so if you don't tell me what's happening, you're going to be stuck in your situation forever" She finished

I scoffed and shook my head

"You're unbelievable" I mumbled "Stop bringing up the goddamn move every chance you get, stop acting like I'm the bad guy for not telling you things when you go on and act like this! Why don't you ask the cops that you let question me, tell you what's been going on!" I crossed my arms

"No, I want you to tell me because you're my daughter" Mom raised her voice at me "Tell me what's been making you soooo tired. Tell me why the cops are calling me and asking me if they could talk to you. Tell me why you've skipped school countless times. Tell me why you're getting in fights. Tell me why you look like you haven't slept for days because I sure as hell want to know. I know your pattern and I'm over this, Althia, you can only mess up so many times before you have to deal with the consequences" She went on

"Oh my god!" I yelled "You wanna know what's wrong with me and why I look like I'm so drained?! I don't even know where to begin because so much shit has happened since the last time I saw you or dad" I continued

"Please enlighten me with your little teenagers problems, let's see what you've got this time" Mom urged me as she continued raising her voice

"Zach broke up with me because I was obsessing over a dumb Instagram account that has been posting rumors about me for weeks, including my supposed nudes! He also broke up with me because apparently it wasn't fair for the two of us to stay together when I have supposed feelings for someone else that I've been denying! Fucking Justin admitted to liking me at the dance and I've been keeping that from everyone except Jessica because I don't know what to do and that's also another reason why Zach broke up with me!" I exclaimed as my mom rolled her eyes "I went to a party to try and forget about my breakup but at the party, my best friend got sexually harassed and I later learned that the person who harassed her also fucking raped her!" I continued throwing my hands up "All while this was happening, Jeff got hit by a fucking car and was all alone, almost dying, until he got admitted to the hospital. As if learning that my best friend was in the hospital wasn't hard enough news, I had to talk to cops who didn't listen to a word I said and kept saying that Jeff had purposely driven under the influence because something had ticked him off. They were basically hinting that they thought Jeff had found Montgomery and I together which had upset him and resulted in him getting drunk and driving until he hit something, all because we were holding hands while being questioned" I grabbed my hair in frustration "After spending an entire stressful night alone at the hospital with no adults, we all finally got to see Jeff who was unconscious. Jeff's mom wanted all of us to try and get some rest for school Monday, which we all tried but deep down we just wanted to stay near Jeff and be there when he wakes up. We still ended up going to school except for Alex and Jess who were off to the police station with Jess' father to report the harassment. The rest of us were trying to concentrate as much as we could in our classes until we got called down to the office to speak with police officers and I learned that my mother gave them permission to pull me out of class to question me. What the hell? Who gets a call from officers and lets them question their child without even being present?" I looked at her "And so we got questioned yet again but this time I was threatened to get charged, to go to jail, to get suspended... All because the asshole that raped and harassed my bestfriend wanted to press charges on after we had beat him up for doing those horrible things" I went on "So yes, mother, I'm tired and drained. Yes, I skipped school. Yes, I got in a fight if that's what you want to call it. Everything you've said, I've done. But don't you dare call it stupid teenagers problems when I had to deal with being heartbroken, scared for my safety and the safety of my friends, worried sick about my friend that's in a hospital bed, blamed for the events of this long weekend, being unable to sleep, being harassed by cops, all without my mother by my side because she's too concerned about her reputation and her mind immediately going to the idea that her daughter is whoring around and she'll have to move again" I finished

My mom stood there looking at me, trying to figure out what to say as I turned away from her and headed towards my closet

"What do you think you're doing?" Mom asked me as I grabbed a gym bag and started putting random clothes in it

"I'm leaving" I answered her "I can't be in the same house as you until you come to your senses and you realise that not everything is about you and what people think of your family. We had to move because I was being bullied for something I never even did and now so much shit has happened and all you care about is what your friends will say. Well you can tell your friends everything I've just told you and maybe they can put some sense in you and make you see all of the shit I've been through in only these past few days. You don't know half of the things that has happened to me or my friends since I've gotten here and I don't want you to know because you'll only use it against me the second you can" I continued as I threw a couple more things in the bag before zipping it up "I'll tell dad where I am and maybe you should tell him what just happened here before I do" I added as I walked right past her to get out of my room

Once downstairs, I put my shoes on and grabbed my backpack before walking right out the door and started heading down my street

I pulled out my phone to text Jessica

Althia:

Hi, do you think I could stay at yours for a bit?

Althia:

I really don't think I can be at mine with my mom and everything
