****Trigger Warning****
(Natsu's POV)
It was that time once again for our traditional summer road trip. After our first year in uni, (y/n), Gray and I decided to go on a road trip just to get away from it all. Mostly for them two.
Gray had a hard year, moving away from his family was hard on him the first time he had to move across the country. Now it was even worse, he had no family around him. He always said that we are like brothers but, "it's just the same ya know? We aren't blood after all." I'll admit it hurt a little but I was upset.
He called his Father at least twice a week. No one ever made fun of him for it. We all saw how he was when his Father had to get a new phone. Of course the phone didn't work for about two weeks. It did but it couldn't never reach the other side of town. Let alone across the country. Once he did finally reach him, he was happier than ever. We were gonna go see his family and drop him off there for the rest of the summer.
(Y/n), she doesn't even know it yet. I can't tell her. How can you tell a person their Father just died. The reason is even worse than that. Her Mother was on the edge for a while, and yet (y/n) doesn't even know. I used to get phone calls from her Mother when ever she had classes. She told me everything and it was so much to handle. Still I had to do it, I loved (y/n) and I know she would do the same for me.
Her Mother said once, "you haven't told her any of this, right? It will hurt her so much! Please just make sure she stays there and doesn't come home. Please! You have to! You're the only one who can! Please, Natsu!"
I couldn't get a single word in the whole time. I looked over at (y/n)'s sleeping form. I can't hurt her, not like this. It's not like there's a good time to tell her this ether. Then again, this has been dragging on for years. Two to be exact which doesn't sound like a long time. They were close sometimes and other times they weren't. Two years worth of her Mother not calling, texting, emailing or mailing her back. Hell she moved house just to get away from (y/n)! I don't know where she is now. (Y/n) had found out by the person living in house now. They sent her a letter telling her that she had moved out and that they lived here now.

We had arrived at Gray's families house and we stepped to say hello. You know to be polite and all.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay the night? We had a spare bedroom after all." Gray's Mother asked us. We shook our heads, "thank you so much but we can't stay long." (Y/n) replied with a smile, I took her hand in mine.
She nodded and Gray walked into the room, giving her a hug. "I miss you so much." He said, squeezing his Mother. She laughed, "I missed you too."
(Y/n) and I looked at each other, and looked back at them.
"We should get going, we're burning day light after all!" I said and they let go.
"Oh yes of course but I made you something, just one moment." Gray's Mother said and rushed off to another room.
Gray looked at us, "thank for taking me guys, when are you gonna come back and get me?"
We looked at each other, then back at him. "We're not sure yet. I'll text you when we figure out what we're gonna do." I answered and (Y/n) nodded in agreement. Gray's Mother came back into the room and hand us some food for the road.
"This is for looking after Gray and bring him home. Thank you both." She said.
We nodded, "thank you, see you soon!" (Y/n) said, hugging her and then Gray.
We stepped out of the house and got back into the packeted car. After moving stuff around, to make sure nothing would fall and break, we headed back on the road. Where? No place really.
We had a bunch of CD's what we would listen to. From 70's, 80's 90's to My Chemical Romance. Hell we even got a Spice Girls one and the Be More Chill sound track.
I had to tell her but every time I look over at her and she's dance around like an idiot, I just can't. She's too happy but it's the very beginning. If I don't tell her now then it might hurt her even worse when we're at uni. I just need to stop thinking about it all the time and just tell her. Her fucking Mother won't and she has to know. She deiveres to know.

We stopped at a hotel for the night, both of us crashed the moment we laid down in the bed. Was I gonna tell her here? Hell no! She could leave in the middle of the night! I was gonna tell in first thing after we had gotten down the road.
----
"Thank you very much!" (Y/n) chirped as she payed for our room. She grabbed my hand with a smile on her face and we walked out and over to the car.
I told her that I would drive today and she had no problem with that. After an hour of driving, I looked the doors as the music was still blasting through the speakers. I turned it down and she looked over at me. "What's up?" She asked, "is everything okay?"
I licked my lips and shook my head, "I need you to listen to me, okay? Don't say anything until I'm finished. I'm not dying or anything but please, I need to tell you everything and then you can ask questions, alright?"
She gave me a confused look but nodded. I took in a deep breath and then let it out.
"You're Mother hasn't been talking to you because of your Father." I looked over at her, she didn't say anything.
"You're Father.... ran off with someone else. Another woman. The woman had problems and she passed them on to him."
"They... they died." I bit my lip, "they jumped in front of a train together."
I looked over at her, she looked dead. I knew if I stopped I would never finishing telling her the whole story.
"You're Mother didn't want you to ever find out. That's why she had been ignoring you all this time. She said that she has to work things out with herself. (Y/n), she was saying that she was useless. That this would have never happened if... if they had never met."
It was silent for a moment. "You can ask questions now, one at a time."
"How do you know all of this?" Her voice didn't have an emotion.
"She had my number from back before we went to uni. You know to make sure that you were okay back when you didn't have a phone and we were on a date."
She nodded, "and she told you to keep all of this from me?"
I nodded. "Why?" She asked.
"Because I knew that I couldn't tell you while we and classes. I wanted her to tell you, this isn't my place but I had to tell you. She wouldn't have ever told you." I replied.
"When did all this start?"
"It was last year. I thought that you're Mother would have told you by now but..." I trailed off.
"Can you pull over?" She asked, voice breaking a little.
"Are you going to run?" I replied she shook her head, eyes filling up with tears.
"I need to hold you." She said, "please! You're been hold onto to this and- and-" the rest came out as sobs.
I turned on my hazard lights and pulled over, unlocking the doors and jumping out the car. She did too, be just didn't run. She started pacing back and forth in the grass, trying to calm down. I caught her and held her in my arms.
"I'm here. Okay? I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere. I swear. I'm gonna be here for you no matter what happens. You mean so much to others around you and you don't even know it. You're gonna get through this and I will help you."

Science fiction elements won't be introduced for quite some time. I currently update my work at a rate of one chapter per week. I'm also in the process of editing chapters 1 - 7, changing the format to make it more readable, and introducing more show and less tell. The reworked chapters will have (edited) after the title. All chapters after 8 have already been written in the new style. I have a Patreon page if you wish to donate. Also, there will be intense situations, some explicit violence, and although it is not an erotic work, one or two sex scenes.
