《Anime One Shots Book 1》Inojin X Reader (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) {Stubborn Artist}

By the way, I have been reading the Boruto manga and not watching the anime. So if anyone seems different that may be the reason why. This is a request!
"Good morning!" I greeted the my team who looks rather sluggish today.
"Morning." Inojin mumbles back.
"Good morning." Shikadai yawned.
Chō-Chō waved, noting wanting to be rude. She was eating a bag of chips and didn't want to talk while she was eating.
"Is Sensei not here yet?" I asked, taking a seat next to Inojin and smiling at him.
He returns the smile, "haven't seen her yet. Maybe she's not coming."
"We already know the mission so we could just-" Shikadai was cut off by Moegi Sensei walking in with a smile on her face.
"Good morning!" She greeted, "sorry I'm late!"
We all mumbled "good morning" back to her and she pulls out the ninja scoll that had out mission information on it.
"Looks like we need to scary some wild animals back to the forest. That should be easier than out last mission. You guys are already scary enough." Sensei laughs.
"Why thank you." I said with a small amount of sarcasm in my voice, "really thank you so much for the compliment. I needed that today."
"You are so welcome." Sensei said with more sarcasm but with a smile on her face.
This type of thing happens from time to with Team 10. Never a dull moment with us.
"So where are we going to be at this time?" Chō-Chō asked before popping a few more chips into her mouth.
"Hope none of you ate too much for breakfast, today will be full of jumping and running around. Our mission will be on the outskirts of the village where a few people live at." Sensei answered, "ready to head out?"
We all stood up and Chō-Chō finished her bag of chips, "ready when you are." She ready with Shikadai and I nodding. Inojin gave Sensei a weak smile and started to fall over when he stood up. I caught him by his arm and held him up.
"Are you okay?" I asked him.
"Yeah," he replied, "just stood up too fast. Come on let's get going." He smiled at the rest of the team not wanting to worry us. He knew I was onto him, something wasn't right with him.

As we processed towards our mission location, jumping from tree to tree, Inojin seemed to be much slower. Sure we weren't the best team but we weren't the worst. If he is falling behind, then something has to be wrong.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I questioned him, "you can go home if you want."
He shook his head, not even looking at me. "I told you, I'm fine. Just spent too much time painting last night. That's all. Don't worry about me." He begin to move quicker, wanting to escape the conversation. All I could do was keep my mouth shut, not wanting to make him mad.
Once we were close to the mission location, Inojin started to slow down fast. Like all of his energy was just taken away. As he was jumping to the next tree, he began to fall. Missing that jump from this height would kill him or leave him unable to walk ever again. "Inojin!" Shouted Moegi Sensei, stopping in her tracks along with our other team members.
I jumped down, hoping to catch him before he hit the ground. Some how, I was able to catch him moments before he hit the ground. "I got him!" I shouted to the rest of my team, who were frozen in shock. "You guys keep going, I'll take him to the hospital!"
"(Y/n)! Just hold on-" Sensei shouted after me but stop. She must have realized that I took off running and wasn't taking no for an answer. The others didn't follow me, so they must have went on to finish our mission.
"You really are stupid." I mumbled to a passed out Inojin, "pushing yourself like this. You may die one day if you keep doing this. Just how much did you paint last night...."
"I didn't." He mumbled back, making me almost drop him.
"Don't scare me like that!" I shouted and he flinched.
"Sure thing just as long as you don't yell in my ear. Why are you carrying me bridal style?"
I sighed, "it was the best way to catch you idiot. Don't complain when you're the one who fell."
"I never asked you to catch me and I slipped." He snapped.
"Then why did you black out? I know you're not scared of heights or falling so what is it?" I questioned him and he groaned in annoyance.

"Where are we going? Are you going to put me down?"
"Answer my question." I demanded.
"Which one? You asked two."
"Both, answer both."
He chuckled at my annoyed tone, "but you already know the answer to both questions. I stayed up late painting last night and I slipped."
"Then did you black out? That was my first question. Answer it."
"After you answer mine." He replied.
"We're going to the hospital to get you looked at since you won't tell me anything. The others went on ahead to finish the mission, probably." I answered, seeing the village in the distance. "Now answer my question."
"You'll find out soon enough. I'm guess if I try to escape you'll just follow me until you catch me yet again."
"That is if you don't black out again." Inojin chuckled at my words.
"Let me know when wee get there." He closed his eyes and rested his head on my body.
"Will do." I replied, looking down at him as he closes his eyes.
----
After getting checked into the hospital, "we'll take him from here." One of the doctor's said, "unless you want to come with us?"
"He's my teammate, I will stay with him until I am no longer able to." I replied and followed the doctor down the hall with Inojin still in my arms.
The doctor looked over his shoulder to smile at me and lead me to the room where Inojin would be treated in. "So what happened? You said that you are teammates and are both where ninja headbands..."
The doctor listened to what I had to say as I carefully laid Inojin down on the hospital bed. "He fell asleep on our way over here. And that should be you up to speed."
"Thank you for bringing him here on your own, you should rest now. We'll run some tests on him but you may stay in here for all of them. There should be a chair near the bed for you to rest in." The doctor said and walks out of the room.
I make myself sit down in the chair and look over at the sleeping Inojin. The people who work here will have to wake him up, I can't bring myself to do it.
Nurse and doctors come in one by one to see what is wrong with him until they finally have an answer. "It seems he has worked himself sick but nothing is contagious. You are okay if you stay here." One of the last nurse who made their way to the room told me.
"Thank you." I said and watched them walk out of the room. Inojin was awake now and looking down with an upset look on his face. "So you're sick."
"Yeah." He replied as I got up to close the door.
"Looks like we'll be here for awhile. Hope the others are doing alright."
"Yeah." Inojin laid back down in the hospital bed, facing away from me.
I frowned and made my own back to the chair, the sun was already set. "Guess we'll see what tomorrow will bring."
He didn't say anything.
Time passed by very slowly has the night went on. It was not pitch black dark in the room, everything was silent. For a hospital, it was weird but also a relief.
"Hey, (Y/n)?" Inojin whispered, "are you asleep?"
"No, are you?" I replied without thinking.
"Who do you think asked?" He chuckled.
"Talking-in-his-sleep Injon. Who else?"
"Can I ask you something?"
I nodded my head, "yeah what's up?"
"Can you sleep next to me?"
"What!?" I whisper shouted, "why would you ask that!? We are in a hospital you know!"
"And? We're dating and I sleep better with you next to me. Please?" He begged, "don't make a sick boy sleep alone."
Glaring at the boy I gave in a walked over to the other side of the bed, kind of. "I can't see, where are you at? I'm holding my hand out..."
Inojin grabbed my hand gently and guided me to the other side of the hospital beed. "Thank you." He mumbled, facing me. "For everything."
"Anytime," I reached out to find his cheek while not trying to smack him in the process. After finding it, I kissed him and closed my eyes.
Inojin never let go of my hand that night.
