"Wait! You cant leave me!" Silver felt Gold tugged on his shirt desperately. He hated seeing the boy this terrified, and he didn't want to leave him so soon, but he had to. It was to save him.
"I'll find you. Now go!" He pulled Gold in for a kiss before urging the horse to run. He felt a ping of guilt leaving the Felis Prince, but he couldn't look back now. He had to draw the attention of the guards.
When he reached the border that crossed over into the land that was owned by neither the Felis nor the Canids, he heard the horses that the Canids rode on begin to stop.
He charge full speed ahead though, putting as much distance between them as he could. Gold likely headed for the border as well. He would search for him at nightfall.
The wait was killing him. He wanted to see Gold, he wanted to make sure he was safe, but he knew that until it was nigh high time, neither of them would be as the forest would be crawling with dogs looking for them.
Finally the sky turned dark.
"Gold? Gold!" Silver shouted in the forest as he trudged along, careful not to be too loud. Gold should have gotten away, but where was he?
He sat down for a moment, fear prickling his skin at the though of the Felis boy being captured. Maybe he went home, although Silver doubted that.
"Silver!" The boy heard a voice and looked up to find the familiar warm eyes of Gold staring down on him from up on the tree.
Gold jumped down from the tree, landing with a thud. He reached out and pulled Silver to him.
"We made it! I'm so glad you're here!" Gold nuzzled into Silver's hair, his tail twitching with delight. Silver felt his heart beat a little faster.
Silver grabbed Gold's arm, there was no time to waste, they had to make it back beyond their borders if they were going to be safe. Canid's had great noses, and if they stayed too long they'd be found.
He ran for the border forest so they could escape, Gold now running full speed with him, feeling his need to rush. They could catch up and rest easy together later, they had to make sure there would be a later first.
Gold and Silver had finally made it, both of them almost immediately dropping to the ground, heaving with exertion. Silver had propped himself up on a large rock, and soon Gold followed leaning over onto the Canid's shoulder.
Silver looked down at him, a warmth passing through him that he had never experienced in all his days in the Canid city of Lupus. Those empty streets held nothing but pain for him.

"Why do you trust me? After what I did to you I wouldn't blame you if you didn't." He asked, his breath finally returning to him.
"You came to save me didn't you? I think that's reason enough." He stated, "Besides, you told me yourself that you could control this, " he motioned to Silver's tail that was lightly wagging, "I don't think all of those times we shared were fake."
Silver felt his heart swell and he leaned down to kiss Gold's head while they sat there. A comfortable silence ensued. Silver began to rake his fingers through Gold's hair, the other almost purring in response. Silver had to hold back a laugh.
But then, suddenly, the purring stopped. Gold was no longer responding in any physical manner, his tail was flat on the ground, his ears stopped twitching, and the only reason Silver knew he was even still alive was the fact that he was breathing.
"Gold? What's the matter?" He shook Gold's shoulder s little, his tail started moving again a little but it seemed more eerie now.
"I-I don't know. I don't feel so good." He almost whispered. Silver sat him up, now worried for the Felis, he looked into his eyes and could see that they were fluctuating between round and sharp.
"Hey, it's okay Gold, just let me know what feels wrong." He said trying to think of the best way to help his friend. He
"My head, it hurts!" He cried as he fell to the ground, clutching his head. His ears were drawn back in pain and his tail twitched wildly.
Silver began to panic, he rubbed the other boy's back and tried to sooth him, but nothing seemed to be working.
"Well, well, well, finally decided to take effect I see." Silver heard a voice he knew all too well. He turned to find the captain of the guards that they had run into last time, a large shady grin stretched across his face.
"I told the boss you were going to turn on us at some point, but for some reason he saw an important asset in you, and I suppose this proved him right." He droned but Silver was having none of it, his rage upon seeing this man had him seething.
"What did you do to Gold?!" He barked, glaring daggers at the guard.
"Whoa now, no need to get so riled up. The kitty is going to serve a much better purpose now." He gestured to Gold whose eyes had stopped fluctuating, now stuck in their sharpened form.
"Hey Gold, are you okay?" Silver asked placing a hand on his back reassuringly.
Almost immediately as Silver touched him, Gold's hand flashed out and hit the red haired boy's arm, startling him.
"What's wrong?" He asked grabbing his arm, Gold's claws had torn straight through the fabric and had cut his skin. Gold wasn't responding anymore, his frenzied gaze never wavered and it sent uncomfortable chills down the other's spine.

"Oh, the little prince isn't the one you know anymore." The guard cackled louder than he had been before.
"What did you do to him!" Silver said, more rage than he could ever comprehend was flowing, sickeningly thick, through his blood.
"We're working on a special little something." The guard started his monologue, "We've got a new weapon, one that could weaponize all of the Felis race against its it's own people. They'll tear each other apart in the streets, no one will be safe, and as for prince over here," he stopped for a moment, taking in the horrified look on Silver's face, "After hes done with you, we'll use him to kill the king."
Silver's once boiling blood ran cold. This was all his fault. If he hadn't agreed to spy on Leon, he would've never met Gold, they would never be in this situation.
"This was a test run, and Gold passed with flying colors." The man kept talking, and with each word Silver broke down even more.
Gold was a pawn. Silver had led him to them. He set this plan in motion. He had been playing into the hands of the Canid king the entire time.
He turned back to Gold who hadn't moved from where he sat, staring straight ahead unsettlingly. Silver shrank under his gaze, he couldn't look Gold in the eyes.
"Stop it." He grunted under his breath.
"Hmm, I couldn't quite hear you, were you giving up?" The guard leaned in cupping his ear.
"I said..." Silver stood up, walking over to the guard, "Stop it!" He jumped at the guard, stealing his sword. The guard, sensing the danger took a few precautionary steps back.
Silver lunged forward again, swinging the sword with precise movements, the guard barely able to dodge the attacks. Silver slammed the sword into his legs, knocking him down and held the sword to the guards throat.
"Tell me how to fix it, and your life might be spared." Silver snarled and the guard held a look of fear in his eyes for a moment.
He lifted a hand and Silver pressed the sword a little more firmly, he felt the man gulp against the blade, a drop of blood escaping from between the sword and his neck.
The man snapped his fingers, much to the Canid's confusion.
"Tell me how to fix it!" He yelled getting impatient. The guard laughed, and suddenly Silver felt a sharp pain rip through his back knocking him over.
Gold had him pinned to the ground, his claws sinking into Silver's back, tearing through his clothes. The vacant expression on Gold never shifted, and for a moment, Silver thought that he might deserve this.
He heard Gold grunt behind him, and his weight began to shift, lifting a little.
"No..." he hissed through his teeth.
His tail lashed wildly and he fought himself off of Silver who then turned to him. He could tell Gold was fighting hard, and he saw that his energy was spent when he fell to the ground muttering, "I wont hurt him anymore."
"Looks like the kitty does have some fight left." He pushed Silver over, who was still daze and used the sword he had retrieved from the Canid when he fell to effectively knock Gold out with the hilt.
"Leave him alone!" Silver had wanted to say those words himself, but another voice had risen above his own. He found himself looking at a regal knight with flowing blue hair and crystalline eyes.
"Who're you?" The guard grumbled, turning his sword towards her, she pulled out her own in issue of a challenge.
"I am the captain of the Felis guard, Crystal. I was sent to search for the prince." She claimed with a scowl.
The guard scoffed, thrusting his sword toward her. With lightning fast movements, she dodged and kicked the guard in the stomach, staggering him.
Her eyes flitted over to Silver for a moment, then to Gold, "Take the prince and run! I'll meet up later!" She yelled, running to block the guard from them.
Silver nodded to her as she held back a strike with her sword. He didn't know who she was, but she looked like she could handle herself here.
He picked up Gold and ran further into the forest, he had heard as a child that if one traversed far enough in, they could vanish from the sight of others without a trace.
"Don't worry Gold, we'll reach for that kingdom you desire, and one day we'll take it."
He found himself shrouded in fog, he felt concealed, but he needed to get further, there was no telling how far the influence of the Canid's reached. He traveled for hours, his legs screaming for relief. Gold's feet had begun dragging on the ground, and the sun was peaking over the horizon.
Despite his better judgement telling him to continue, Silver felt his knees buckle and he fell to the ground taking Gold with him.
He stayed there for a moment, his face in the dirt, unable to move. Gold's breath rattled against his neck, pushing Silver to sit up and lay Gold on his leg.
After another hour Silver stood up again, lifting Gold onto his back as he had been earlier, only this time the cat stirred. Silver kept walking on shaky legs, trying to steady himself under Gold's extra weight.
"Silver..?" Gold said the Canid's name after a moment.
"Yeah?"
"Where are we?" He nuzzled into Silver's back.
"We're headed towards our new home. Don't worry, go back to sleep." Silver said, heaving Gold up a slight hill.
"Okay." He muttered letting sleep take him once more.
Silver kept on walking, this was it, they were paving a path to their new future. A kingdom where everyone could be happy. A place where they could be together peacefully at last.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
