《That Day // Villain Deku》Chapter 41 : When Do We Leave..?

The periwinkle-haired girl stood up abruptly and began to assume a fighting position before screaming out in both fear and anger.
"It's you!"
I smiled sickly as she started firing her at me. I activated Ghost and allowed the spiral beams to pass through me. Standing up, I began slowly stalking over to her as she attacked me continuously.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing crying alone out here?" I asked her as I circled her like a vulture—circling its prey.
"Shut up!" She screamed out in rage, whilst again, firing her beams out at random.
She was blasting surrounding trees, garbage cans, and buildings, while I remained untouched.
Not really the mark of a hero, destroying a small ghost town—despite knowing that she can't hit me.
It's not rational.
"Could it have been the death of your friend?" I asked getting closer to her, inch by inch.
She ground her teeth as I simply smiled a sinister grin.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" She replied—glaring at me—as she changed from using her quirk to punching and kicking. "You coward! Relying on your quirk as if you can't fight without it!" She exclaimed.
I took her words with a grain of salt since she had obviously been in distress; although, she was beginning to tick me off.
"Or was it the recent death of your parents?" I questioned her—keeping the smile on my face as I watched hers drop.
"How... How did you?-" She began as I cut her off.
"I do watch the news, y'know..." I retorted dryly.
It was as if something in her snapped as I spoke because her facial expression shifted quickly from confused and anxious to angry and spiteful.
"Don't ever mention my parents ever again, you monster!" She yelled in vexation. "They're good memory doesn't deserve to be tainted by leaving your filthy mouth!"
As she lunged at me, I deactivated Ghost and caught her fists before they landed. I threw her figure to the ground and began walking closer to her. The look on her face was a mixture of hatred and defeat.
Although knowing she was outmatched, she still tried to lift herself off the ground.
That's one thing I've always admired about heroes.
Or at least, some heroes.
Not all would continue to fight when they understand they'd already been beaten.
I placed my foot on her back—keeping her down—as I stared down at her with malice and sinister intent. Her eyes shown with fear in the light of the sun as she trembled under my touch.
"You done?" I asked—raising an eyebrow as I smirked down at her.
Tears filled the brims of her eyes as she tiredly nodded, looking down. I removed my foot from her back and put out a hand—gesturing for her to take it. She headed to my gesture and grasped my hand, and used it to lift herself off the ground.

"Ok, now what should I do with you?" She kept her gaze fixed on the floor as my figure towered over her. "I can't very well leave you, a hero, to run back to whatever agency you're interning with—considering that you've stumbled upon the League's base..." I continued sternly, finally losing my smile.
She held her tongue—still refusing to meet my gaze—as I stared down at her.
"Hey, it's rude to ignore someone when they're talking to you." I scolded. "At least look at me." I sighed.
I was getting pretty pissed off as she continued her stubborn antics.
It's not like I can just let her leave.
If I could I would have just left by now, but then she could just run back to the heroes and tell them where the League has been camping out. I'm just starting to get used to our new base, so I don't exactly want to move again.
"Fine, be like that." I spoke—lowering my volume—as I grabbed her arm and began pulling her towards the entrance of the base.
She activated her powers and tried to fly away, but I kept my grip firm and used some of the power I had acquired last night from a witness who had been resisting. Dragging her inside, she began screaming for help.
"Don't bother, this area's practically a ghost town." I explained. "Besides, all you'd accomplish would be drawing attention from the others inside, and trust me, you wouldn't want that..."
She glared at me but took my advice as I dragged her to my room to talk.
Upon our arrival, she seemed confused. I led her to my couch and gestured for her to sit down.
"Aren't you going to kill me, or torture me, or something?" She asked softly.
"Maybe." I laughed, watching as her face paled. "Now, why were you crying in the middle of nowhere?" I asked insincerely.
My sincerity and empathy left years ago, and I couldn't be bothered to act as if I cared. The only reason I cared in the slightest was so I would know if I could manipulate her or not. She seems useful enough, and I need as many hero course students as possible to join the League.
The media already doesn't trust the heroes, nor do they trust U.A's judgment, so if a good portion of the hero course students—including one of U.A's big three—were to join the League, all hell would break loose. We'd have a riot on our hands. I can already see the headlines.
U.A scandal raises questions on their teaching abilities.
U.A hero course students turning to the side of evil, but why?
I smiled internally as I imagined the looks on the heroes' pitiful faces when they found out I've already gotten to two students; meanwhile, the girl remained quiet—eyes fixated on the floor as if it were any more than grey, wide-planked flooring.

"Fine, you don't want to talk, I'll leave." I started to leave as I heard her sobbing.
Finally broke, huh?
"I just miss them so much..." She spoke between sobs. "And the other students are merciless..."
I circled back to her and sat down next to her on the couch as she cried. It's unnatural for people to speak their woes to a stranger, but then again, it's also easier. Talking to someone you don't know, I mean.
I don't know why, though.
"Kids can be cruel..."
"...Yeah..."
She stopped talking after that, and we just sat in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence, it was comfortable. Like the kind of silence you'd have when you're watching the sunset with your partner. Or the kind you'd have at the movies.
It was comfortable.
Nejire had been acting odd the other day. I suppose it's excusable though since her parents have just recently been murdered. I stood up waiting for her to return to the dorms until around midnight, but she never came back. Curfew was extremely strict, and it was unlike her to miss it.
Tamaki and I have been anxiously waiting for Nejire to show up to class, but our hopes had been crushed as we watched our teacher walk through the overly-large doors of Class 3-A.
She's never late to class.
Sure, she could get distracted by a lot of things, but she loved school. She loved to learn. Even our teacher was confused when calling attendance and realizing Nejire was absent without a note.
It wasn't like her.
As we were dismissed from class, I decided to call her, but she never answered. I asked our friends to try her as well, but our efforts were to no avail, as she still wouldn't answer.
She could sometimes keep her phone on silent, or be too distracted to answer, but after a few tries, she'd usually answer. We had almost our whole class constantly calling her number for a good few minutes, but she didn't answer any of us.
She must be in trouble.
After crying for what seemed like hours, the girl crashed. I remember crying so much that I would pass out back before I met Tomura...
It's tiring.
More like exhausting.
I carried her to my bed and turned off the lights, allowing her to rest. Turning to the door, I walked out of the room and to the common area. I barely got anything out of her. All that I got was that she was sad.
Sadness is common.
There must be more. Maybe she blames herself. She is a hero, and she couldn't save her parents from some neighbour with a knife. It's not like she could have done anything though.
It's U.A's fault.
If she hadn't been in the U.A dormitories, she would have been with her parents. Then she could have saved them. Of course, maybe she's not feeling guilty. Maybe she's vengeful. Maybe she wants to make her parents' killer pay for what they did.
Either way, I think I can turn her against U.A and the heroes.
Even if she's just mourning, I can probably still turn her against the heroes.
I shook my head as I arrived in the common area and sat down.
My main objective is still to kill Tomura...
I scratched my head as I thought of ways to eliminate him from the picture. I couldn't be the one to do it.
That's the problem.
I need to shift the blame onto a third party, otherwise, All For One would never trust me and give me his power. I need an alibi and a witness. Someone that can confirm that I had nothing to do with Tomura's death when it arises.
"Hey, I have something to say..." A raspy voice spoke, bringing me out of my daze.
I as I looked to the source of the voice, I noticed that the rest of the League were here—sitting in the common room—either watching T.V or talking amongst each other.
"Master has a mission for us..." Tomura continued.
I stared with anticipation.
This could be it.
This could be my chance.
"We have to transport something for them."
Dammit, this won't help.
"From Master's description, the cargo is one of the Doctor's recent projects..."
Projects..?
So in other words...
"He's a test subject."
He's a person...
This could be what I needed. A person... If this person was one of the Doctor's test subjects for his quirk implanting projects, then this could be the opportunity I've been waiting for...
I just need to make sure he's strong enough, and that he'd work with me.
"When do we leave?"
The upcoming chapters ('Chapter 41 : When Do We Leave..?' - 'Chapter 50 : And So The Race Begins') contains Heroes Rising spoilers. So, if you haven't yet seen the movie, I would recommend watching it before continuing to read. Thanks for reading my story to this point!!

Until You Do It Right
The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse. Just an endless procession of little ones.”― Neil Gaiman, Signal to Noise. I am absolutely new to writing and will take any and all constructive criticism. Please give feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I will update the tags as they change, and I hope that you enjoy this little story I'm writing! Quick warning: Seamus is intentionally a flawed character, and this story is going to explore those flaws and perhaps even change a few of them. I do not agree with all of his actions, but it is what it is.

The Awakened
Mark was a data analyst that had recently landed a job in a company and his life was pretty normal if not a bit boring through upon meeting a mugger in an alley his life had a drastic change not neccesarily for the better. He stopped being a sleeper and saw a glimpse of the true form of the world which opened his eyes to a new life altogether. ============================================================================================== This is my first fiction and i am loosely basing this on Mage:The Awakening rulebook. Naturally i am going to change things a bit but i don't intend to make this a novel where the main character goes around changing the whole world. It will be based on a normal guy discovering a new world while trying to find his place in it. Also please write comments warning me about things such as development speed or unrealistic relations.
