"You heard me," He sighs, "All these men roaming around are a part of it, my cousin you met down is a part of it, my best friend is... Everyone is. And I never had a choice. It's been in my family for years."
"So mafia?Like the guns and killings and...?" I ask lamely.
"Yes." He sighs looking distraught. "I completely understand if you want to do nothing with me, and I also know I should have told you, but I didn't want to ruin anything between us. You are somebody who makes me feel alive. You are one of the few people who know the real me. So what I mean is if you wanna leave me, I am not stopping yo--"
I cut him off with my hand going in his hair and pulling him for a kiss. Our foreheads touch. "You talk too much," I breathe out.
I think about the past month we spent in the states. Everything was so perfect. He was so perfect. He still is. He's the same Christian. My dreamcatcher.
I look at him through my lashes, "We'll figure everything out. Don't we always?"
"Victoria..." He looks at me help helplessly and with full of hope.
I put his head on my chest and stroke his hair, "Everything will be alright Christian and I'm with you on every step."

"You are truly amazing Victoria." Karla compliments me. "My son is lucky."
"That I am," Christian hugs me tighter.
I blush. "You both need to stop saying things like these."
"But I love it when you blush," Christian whines.
I giggle. "Are you sure you are 25 years old?"

He just chuckles placing a kiss on my cheek.
"You both are so cute," Karla gushes. "I just want one thing from you guys." Her expression turns serious.
"Of course Karla." I sit up on the couch, "What is it?"
"I want a couple of grandchildren," She shrugs like it's no big deal.
Christian groans while I blush beetroot red. "Mom!"
"What?" She asks innocently.
"You are going to scare her away." He says. He looks at me, "Sorry babe."
"It's okay." I blush.
We continue to watch the movie again in silence until it is broken by Karla.
"So when are you making my grandchildren?"

"You done, Princess?"
"Almost," I say slipping into my yoga pants. Once I am ready I go outside. "What's this about, Christian?"
"I am teaching you how to defend yourself," Christian says.
"What? Why?" I question.
"Because if something happens and I am not there, you could defend yourself and kick some asses," he says like it's obvious. "Now come on."
We go out in the backyard where there are men sparring with each other, punching the punching bags and running.
We go where a big mat is placed. "So we'll start with the basics." Christan stands opposite of me.
"I know how to fight Christian." I give him a look, "I told you this before."
He looks at me for a moment. "How well can you fight?"
I don't hesitate to answer. "I can kick your ass anytime."
Christian chuckles. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we?"
I shrug, rolling my eyes.
"Flavio you're up against her," Christian tells a guy, he is not so bulky and looks younger. Only a little though.

"This boy?" I give out a laugh. He is seriously underestimating me.
"Flavio, don't hold back," Christan tells him. He just nods back obediently and positions himself in front of me. "On 3. 1, 2...3!"
We both circle each other and I just observe him, making no move to hit him. He is putting less pressure on his right leg and his left shoulder is a bit slumped. Huh! Easy.
Focus and confidence is the key!
He advances towards me and sends a punch my way that I easily dodge and twist that arm behind him, kicking his right leg making him drop down on his knees. He recovers quickly, standing up sending punches my way that I dodge swiftly and send a powerful punch on his shoulder.
The pain distracts him and I take as a cue to send a punch to his face and gut. A punch him a few more times and he is on the ground, slumped.
I turn towards Christian panting, "Still teaching me the basics?"
He chuckles my way. "Always full of surprises Ms. Forbes."
"You know me, Mr. Vasquez, I like surprising people." I wink his way. "Satisfied enough to let me kick your ass?"
He just smirks my way, joining me on the mat.
"You were good at finding his weakness," He circles around me. "Let's see how in the world you can find mine?"
"Cocky much?" I scrunch my nose.
He rolls his eyes at me, "Let's just start."
I don't need to find out his weakness, I already know!
I circle him and I don't make move to attack him. He'll have to go first eventually, and that's what he did. He swung at me and I barely dodged.
Then it all started.
He swung at me and I swung at him. Jabs here and there. Both of us barely dodging but not giving up at all.
My small frame serving me as an advantage.
I started getting tired and I had to end this somehow.
His weakness!
Again when he swung at me I made sure it hit me. And it did barely. I fall to the ground holding my ankle.
"Shit," I hiss out, "It hurts."
Christian's eyes soften when he saw me. He kneels next to me trying to inspect the damage, I kick him straight on his chest causing to tumble back and before he could recover, I climb on top of him and elbow him then holding his arms above his head.
"Kicked your ass, didn't I?" I pant looking straight into his eyes.
He smirks, "Looks like you found out my weakness, mia dea."
All the members looking at their Leader in surprise while I threw my head back and laughed.
He's still my Christian.

In part two of this three-part series, battle lines have been drawn in the once-peaceful realm of the Silver Wheel. In one corner, we have the enigmatic and brilliant Marie Walker, whose perverse dissection of the Silver Wheel and it’s operations has left a trail of destruction in her wake. In the other, we have the staff of the Silver Wheel, who seek to return to a time before their discovery and exploitation at the hands of mortals... using any means necessary. These two forces clash for the soul of the Silver Wheel in matches of wit and fortitude, forging strange alliances and suffering harsh betrayals. But when your battlefield’s a poker table, a little bad luck is sometimes all it takes to ruin even the best-laid plans… You can read part one right here, and part three here. The Gatekeeper
Quick Synopsis:This is the story of Reylor, a god-like existence who lost a great portion of his strength when accidentally sent from his “home” to another world. Making friends and learning to harness to power of magic, he maintains his commitment to his prior duty and proceeds to fight against corruption, both on a political front and against what is known as the shade.(Note, this story focuses on action and adventure, so politics are not in depth) This has been my first novel, which was primarilly inteded as a learning experience, and so it may be a bit rough in regards, but it should definitely be readable and it is a full story. I may make some adjustments to it later on, but there's no guarantee... anyhow, it's free to read, so give it a go! Also, feel free to check out my new website: aretornovels.wordpress.com

He isn't your classic 'White Knight' who will defeat the 'bad guys' and save the day. Your normal views of the way the world should work are not the same for him. Expect ruthlessness, backstabbing, lies, dishonorable actions, and so much more that makes this story realistic and great.Urban Fantasy: While modern technology exists, along with space crafts and other soft sci-fi tropes, they are not key elements, nor will they be gone over in high details. This story is primarily magic/fantasy.Soft Sci-Fi: Read above. This story is a revised version of the previous story I wrote here on Royal Road.
