《REACH || yoo kihyun》VI

When Arena woke up the next morning, she thought it all had been a dream.
But it had all happened. And she remembered every moment of it.
She was under her blanket and looked at the time, it was still 6 a.m. Way too early for anything. Yet Arena was wide awake.
She kept staring at the stars above her bad and pulled her covers over her chin. Arena thought about how Kihyun and Wonho had acted with them. They had treated them like equals, not fans. They had been nice and maybe a little too nice?
I mean, of course Arena understood that they don't get to hang out with girls most of the time, but somethings still might have gone too far.
Call her weird, but that was how Arena felt.
She rubbed her head and sat up. Arena found her glasses on her bedside table and put them on.
Putting on her contacts or glasses overall was like switching the quality on YouTube from 270p to 1080p.
The world for Arena was in HD quality once again.
Her phone beeped.
Arena's head whipped to the side, hair flying around her face. She threw off her covers and stood up, searching for a hair tie from her table. Arena tied her brown/blonde ombre hair up into a very very messy bun, grabbed her phone and dragged herself into the bathroom.
Opening her phone, a little part of her had thought that maybe, just maybe Kihyun had messaged her on kakaotalk, but no, it was just Naha, asking Arena to drive her to school this morning.
Arena sighed and started brushing her teeth.
When she finished, Arena came out of her bathroom, made her bed and opened her closet.
"Another day, another outfit," muttered Arena and tug out clothes. The weather outside was cold, and Arena couldn't care less about what she wore in school so she decided for grey sweatpants and a white T-shirt with a cardigan. Their school didn't have a dress code, as long as you didn't turn up to school naked. Arena also didn't feel like wearing her hair down so...she remade her messy bun to look not so messy.
She applied a small amount makeup and decided on wearing her glasses to school again.
Arena was touching up her under eye concealer when Naha called her.
"You're going to pick me up right?"
Arena yawned and put away her concealer, "Good morning to you too."
"Is that a yes or a no?"
"Yes, I'm picking you up. What time?" Arena spritzed on some body spray from VS and took her bag with her available hand.
"Around 7.20?"
Arena checked her wristwatch. "That's in 30 minutes."
"If you get here early, I can make you coffee."

Arena didn't need more convincing. "Deal, see you in 10 minutes."
She ran down the stairs, not bothering with grabbing anything for breakfast, pulled on her UGG's and a coat, wrapped a scarf around her neck and stepped out of the door, at the same time fumbling with her car keys.

"Here you go." Naha handed Arena a steaming cup of coffee and sat down opposite her at the kitchen table.
"You are an angel." Arena took a sip of her coffee. Absolute bliss. She had had gotten to Naha's place about 8 minutes ago and Naha had already started the coffee maker by the time she arrived.
"Have you heard from him?"
"Who?"
"You know who."
Arena raised her eyebrows and leaned forward, "You mean Lord Voldemort?" she whispered. She started laughing, because, let's face it, that was a funny joke.
Naha rolled her eyes and facepalmed. "No, I mean Kihyun."
"Oh, no I haven't. Not surprised tho." Arena took another sip of her coffee and set the mug down on the table.
Naha's kitchen was cute, modern but kind of small. She lived alone, since it had always been a dream of hers. Naha had told everyone last year, that when she turns 18, she'll buy an apartment downtown and move in alone.
Naha had turned 18 in May.
And her dream had come true.
"Why? I thought you guys hit it off last night." Naha eyed her friend curiously.
"Talking about hitting it off, " Arena wiggled her eyebrows, "You and Wonho seemed to be getting p r e t t y close."
Naha cringed. "That, I don't know what that was." She laughed nervously. "I mean I like him and he's a sweet guy and all, but it would never happen, you know? Us living different lives and I don't think he even thinks of me like that, you know what I mean."
"I think I do."

"So as you can see," said Arena's biology teacher and pointed to the blackboard. "You can find out a tree's real age when you cut it in half and read the inner rings on the stump right here." The bell rang and interrupted her speech. "But that doesn't mean you should go around cutting trees in half! Everyone read chapter 14 by Friday!"
Arena started packing up her things and in the rush of things dropped her phone onto the floor.
"Damn," said Arena quietly heaving her backpack over her shoulders and reaching out her hand to pick up her phone.
Someone crouched beside her and picked it up before Arena even had the chance.
"Here."
"Oh, thank you." She smiled to the strange boy, who had picked up her phone. He scanned it for cracks and gave it back to Arena.

"It's not broken. I'm Nick, by the way," Said the boy...Nick and smiled.
"Oh right, you're in my calculus class. Well it was nice meeting you, but I really have to go. Bye." Arena held her phone tightly between her fingers and hurried out of the classroom, saying bye to the teacher.
"She didn't even tell me her name," muttered Nick and shook his head, walking out of the classroom in disbelief.
Arena was speeding through the hallways, her phone to her ear. She didn't care that people were looking at her like she was. Right now Arena needed to find her best friend, Naha.
"Pick up, pick up, pick up." Arena was annoyed. Naha wasn't picking up her phone. She stopped for a second to look around and remind herself, which class had just ended for Naha. She finally spotted the blue haired girl walking out of a classroom.
Arena waved her hand in the air. "Naha! Over here!"
Naha saw her, smiled and started walking toward Arena. Arena met her halfway.
"Hey, what's up? Were you running?"
"Wait. Let. Me. Catch. My. Breath," panted Arena and rested her hands on her knees.
"Okay so," started Arena and wiped a strand of hair from her face, "I just got a text."
"Is it who I think it is?"
Arena nodded and bit her lip. "But I didn't think he'd reach out. I thought that it was kind of a "had fun but let's never speak again" kind of a situation."
Naha smiled and put her arm around Arena. "Obviously you were wrong about that, girl."
Arena looked at Naha and scoffed, "But I was so sure."
"Just accept it that a guy is interested in you for once."
Arena stopped mid-step. Naha turned around to see why Arena had stopped.
"Yeah, BUT NOT A KPOP IDOL!" hissed Arena through gritted teeth.
Naha sighed and took Arena's shoulders between her hands, boring into her eyes.
"Let's just go, you can tell me what he texted on the way."
"But don't we have like...class..?" Arena looked confused.
Everytime she was confused, Arena's eyebrows pulled really close together, making her look more shocked or sad than confused.
Naha started pulling her with her. "That was the last one, let's goooo."
"Already?" muttered Arena. She let her friend drag her out of the building anyway.
***
"Your place or my place?" asked Naha when they reached Arena's car in the parking lot. "Yours." They sat in and Arena ignited her Kia.
While driving, Arena gave Naha her phone, so she could read Kihyun's message.
"Hey, Arena. It's Kihyun. Wanted to tell you that I had a great time yesterday. That really meant a lot. Thank you.
Naha crunched her nose and looked at Arena, who lift her gaze once to look at her friend. "What?"
"This text," said Naha and closed Arena's phone's screen, placing it back into Arena's lap, "It's horrible. It looks like he has rewritten this like 100 times."
Arena nodded. "I know. I never thought he'd be nervous texting someone."
"Maybe, he was nervous because it was you." Naha wiggled her eyebrows.
Arena slammed the breaks and stopped the car suddenly. "We're here."
"Are you trying to kill us or sth? Get a grip," scowled Naha and stepped out of the car.
"Sorry!"
Naha lived on the 7th floor of a 10 floor, beautiful apartment building downtown. It had a large parking lot in front of it and Arena had parked next to Naha's own car. Naha didn't like riding alone so much, she preferred riding more when she was with Arena. Whether it was driving Arena's car herself or just sitting in Arena's passenger seat.
The lobby of the apartment building was gorgeous and decorated with minimum furniture. The walls in the corridors were either a really light beige or entirely white.
"Do you want to take the stairs?"
"Of course not," laughed Arena and pushed the elevator button for going up. Arena's phone started ringing moments before the elevator doors opened. She fished her phone out of her bag. It was an unknown number. Arena answered her phone without hesitating.
"Hello?"
"Hello, my name is Park Seo Jun, am I speaking to Arena Calder?" Said a female voice from the phone in perfect English.
Naha had already gotten into the elevator and was now waiting for Arena to get in. She kept making hand gestures for Arena to just step inside.
Arena didn't. She placed a hand on the door though, so it wouldn't close.
"Um yes? How can I help you?" said Arena into the phone. Her voice was starting to get nervous.
"I am calling because of a tip I received about your makeup skills."
"Okay, I'm sorry but I'm afraid I still don't understand the purpose of this phone call." Arena tried to remain as polite as possible. She had a bad feeling she knew where this phone call was going.
"My apologizes, I seemed to have forgotten to mention. I am the tour co-manager of a South Korean boy band Monsta X, from Starship Entertainment. I was wondering if it was possible for us to meet?"
"I'm sorry what? Why do you want to meet me?"
"It seems that one of the band members has requested for your acquaintance on the makeup team. But more of that later. I believe it would be more comfortable to talk in person, don't you agree?"
Arena almost dropped her phone.
