《Free Your Mind》Chapter Thirteen: 8:00 am

Gentle ticking of an old mahogany grandfather clock was the greeting into the small family home. The soft light of the morning shone in through the entry door left ajar that led into the foyer. Sounds of a delicious breakfast being made could be heard throughout the interior rooms, and a soft breeze of morning air could be felt within the small mudroom. A pair of off-white glass panel French doors lead into a little cozy family room just off to the left of the entryway's staircase.
Stepping through the door frame and into the modest living space, the smell of food became evident to the nose, complemented by the subtle sizzling of bacon to accompany it. The sun floods through the front windows of the space. Illuminating the comfy furnishings that decorated the living room. A single plush couch with a soft shade of tan was joined by a cozy cocoa recliner off to the right of it. They sat before a large stone fireplace that only had a few remaining embers left in a pile of ash. A small bird outside one of the windows next to the chimney sang happily away into the morning sky, a little nest housed three tiny eggs within it. At the far end of the room, yet another doorway sat. This one led into the kitchen of the home, where all the life within seemed to be.
Continuing further into the house, the music of an old radio became noticeable, playing ever so quietly in the background of the kitchen's morning routine. Soft blue cabinets and eggshell work surfaces of the room held a number of ingredients sat out to assist with the first meal of a perfect day. The cream-colored stove top had two copper frying pans sat upon its gas-powered burners. Within the bottom of the pans sat the charred remains of what once was a meal for four. Only now did the burnt odor from the smoke become apparent. A dining table sat in the center of the kitchen, it seemed at one point to be perfectly set for a family. However, the tablecloth was hanging to the floor on one side and barely covered the support below on the other. The two remaining sets of dinnerware weren't in their proper spots, they had been dragged from their original resting place. The table once had a set of four chairs but only two were visible. Upon reaching the other side of the wooden table, it became clear as to why so much was missing from the proper table setting. The two missing chairs sat on their sides, one missing a leg and scattered around them were the shattered remains of fine China. Once freshly polished silver was now scratched and dirtied laying on the cold checkered tiling.

Breaking the tension within the room, the grandfather clock from within the foyer chimed off. A cool breeze, the same from earlier, had creeped into the kitchen. The floor length curtains that adorned the back door were lifted by the wind, flowing gently in the air. Left open, the single white door that led to the backyard had let the controlled temperature of the room become chilled. Pushing the curtains aside, it only took a single step onto the manicured patio to answer the mystery within the home.
Laying perfectly in a line on the backyard lawn, sat each resident of the household, facing up towards the sky. All of them were surrounded by pools of blood-soaked grass that had flowed from within their bodies. A chocolate lab sat farthest to the right, on its back with a hole through its head. Beside the dog, laid two children, no older than 7, both with mouths left agape, and visible bullet holes through their skulls. The mother dead beside them had a similar lethal wound. Finally, the father sat at the very end, laying just like the rest, the same bullet hole as well. The only thing that stuck out from the other corpses was that he held a shiny metal pistol in his hand.

(TM stands for transmigrated which is different from reincarnation.
