《Fallen Miracles》Blinded-Chapter seven

Kagami Pov
The clean swish of the ball passing through the net filled my ears as I slammed it into the hoop scoring the first point of my 1 v 1 against the so-called 7th man of the Generation of Miracles. I felt myself smirk in triumph
Yes! I scored the first basket! I knew Kuroko was hyping him up more than he should have. I mean seriously it wasn't that hard to get out of this kid's grasp, then again look at him he's tiny. Maybe I should go easier on him.
I thought, chuckling to myself. However, I felt my confidence falter slightly as I turned to face the orange-haired boy who was behind me. He was smiling?
Wait, why is he smiling? I scored so easily on him. What's going on?
"You know scoring one point against me doesn't make you anything special. I haven't even warmed up yet." He smirked, casually strolling towards the baseline of the court as if nothing had happened.
Had he expected me to score?
I watched Hinata's movements carefully as he started to dribble the ball slowly, occasionally alternating it between both hands. Nothing special was being done. No effort into trying to pass me no nothing. He was simply dribbling the ball.
Hmph, things are starting to get boring. Let's wind him up a little bit.
"You know what? I think I understand why you are the only fallen miracle." I said, adding a slightly mocking tone to my voice.
"Oh? Care to enlighten me Kagami?"
"Well, I just don't see you possessing any sort of obvious blessed gift or whatever the hell you guys are supposed to have. You're just so... I don't know, you're quite boring, I mean the only thing you have going for yourself at the moment is your hair, honestly, I think I made a mistake challenging you because you have no power whatsoever."
Hinata was now standing right in front of me with a look that I would have never imagined someone as cheerful looking as him would ever have. The darkened aura that he was emitting on the court was one of the most intense I had ever felt in all my basketball experience. My breath felt like it had been knocked out of my stomach, making me gasp for air, my body was frozen in its place making me feel as if I couldn't move, everything looked black. Until I felt myself being harshly tugged down by my shirt until I felt the hot breath of my opponent in front of me tickle my ear.

"See that's where you and I finally agree Kagami," He hissed. " Challenging me was a mistake and once this game is done, I hope you regret it. Since you're so concerned about me not possessing any power let me show you 100% of it. This is me not holding back"
At that moment a bright flash of orange light shone in my eyes blinding me enough to make me stumble to the ground. Swish. Rapidly blinking my eyes trying to refocus them, I quickly turned towards the sound that was resonating through my ringing ears just to be met with the sight of the ball hitting the ground, the little redhead sitting on top of the hoop smirking down at me.
"Well, would you look at that Mr Titan had a whittle fall." The redhead coed pouting his lips in a mocking manner as he pushed himself down from his position on the hoop landing the jump with ease.
"Please," I scoffed glaring back at the kid "I tripped over my lace there's nothing else to it. Consider that point a lucky one."
"Whatever you say, big guy."
What the hell was that light just before? It blinded me so easily. I don't know what's going on but that Carrot top over there is playing a difficult game right now. He better pray for his sanity because I am about to break him down step by step until he can no longer stand properly. He has no chance against me in the air so as long as I can get down to my end of the court fast I will have the advantage. Yeah! And then I'll just dunk it like normal. He'll never be able to stop me!
With my new plan in mind, I started to dribble the ball towards the smaller boy who was now standing in a defensive stance ready to try and retrieve the ball off me. I drove towards him and was successfully able to pass him.

Hah! See? Not so good now short stuff! I thought, jumping up to slam the ball down into the hoop. However, I found the ball being stopped in mid-air. I opened up my tightly shut eyes and looked at the ball. A small hand was tightly gripped on the other side of the ball pushing with all of its strength making the ball slip out of my grasp.
Did he just... Stop my dunk? There's no way! Shit and he's already at half court!
Just as Hinata was jumping to make the dunk I was able to reach him, instantly jumping up to try and stop him. But somehow as I reached my maximum height the small boy kept on moving up and he wasn't stopping anytime soon. He looked down, his eyes instantly connecting with mine, a light ring of orange was surrounding his chestnut brown irises, time slowed down, it felt like I was falling in slow motion. Multiple thoughts were passing through my mind. How could someone this short, this puny, this skinny beat me? Has all my training been for nothing? Did I really underestimate him, can I... beat him?
My body finally collided with the hard ground below just as the orange-haired boy was dunking the ball into the hoop and swinging off, sticking the landing perfectly. He waltzed over to me in a brazen manner and offered me a hand. Seeing the friendly gesture enraged me. I don't care if he was being genuine or not offering me help was like an insult coming from him.
Smacking his hand away I strode off to collect the ball completely ignoring the existence of the boy next to me because if I did I knew my frustrations would cloud my vision.
It's only two-one. This time I will definitely score.
I didn't.
Five-One
A fog that's how I would describe it. A thick cloud of fog and the only light I was able to see was the bright flashes of orange light that could blind anyone in an instant. For the first time in a long time, I realised I was going to lose and there was nothing I could do about it.
Swish
Panting I fell on one knee trying to slow my shallow breathing. Sweat slowly dripped from my forehead for the first time ever I had been annihilated by someone who was about half of my size. This is the type of power the Generation of Miracle has. This is who they are. This is the type of player I have to beat.
"Good game!" A smiley-faced Hinata said placing a small hand on my shoulder which I quickly shoved off.
"Kagami-kun I told you, you had no chance. Hinata-kun wasn't even playing at 100% so don't start sulking now" The soft voice of Kuroko replied as he approached us followed by the rest of Hinata posse.
I sighed in defeat as I looked up, squinting my eyes from the sun that had now just started to peek through the grey clouds.
I'll accept defeat for now. But I will make it your level Hinata just wait.
"Hinata boke... we need to talk."

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
