《Orion》47

"Hello?" Elpida called softly, speaking into the air, her eyes shifting around in fear.
The bunch of the group were all currently in an empty village, dead animals sprawled on the ground, carts of food toppled over, and a fire crackling at the far end of the square.
It looked like the village had been attacked, and everyone fled.
The environment was seemingly still, with smoke from burnt houses, drifting into the air, clouding the atmosphere.
Dogs barked wildly in their fairly built wooden cages, calling for someone to let them out.
"It's deserted" Pavlos spoke in a low voice.
"You think it could be the work of Cedric?" Sima questioned him.
"I don't know" He responded, while accessing the whole environment.
"Judging from the spillage of blood all over the soil. There's a high chance it could be him" He added.
Zulther trotted on its hooves uncomfortably, both of the horse's ears turned forwards, sensing that there was something wrong.
"Be calm" Orion uttered in a low voice to it.
The horse obeyed instantly, as if understanding what was said.
It remained still, neighing and staring onwards at the fog that covered the entire area.
Orion jumped down, stroking the mane of Zulther, and lightly tapping him, commending him for heeding his words.
As he took a step forward, the animal whinnied once more, snorting and raising its tail up, trying to get Orion to retreat.
A young boy suddenly tumbled out one of the wrecked cottages, with clothes tattered and eyes so weak.
This made each of them draw their weapons out instantly, for fear of it being an attacker.
Their fear was soon eased, as they all realized it was only a boy, which made them return their weapons back to its position.
"Who are you?" Orion spoke, advancing towards the child. His gaze fell on the boy, taking note of his uneasiness and silence.

"What's going on?" Orion asked.
Yet, no response came, instead he had his head bent, his eyes peering at his bony fingers while they twitched continuously.
"Tell me what's going on" Orion uttered, immediately" This time his voice rose a little.
He held on to his sword tightly, catching on to the fear which rested in the eyes of the boy, as he rose his head to gaze at him.
Slowly, he opened his pale lips to speak, his voice croaking, as words rolled out of his mouth.
"She's coming" He whispered to Orion.
"Run!" His eyes widened, while giving the warning.
"Who's coming?" Orion asked, totally lost on what was happening.
"You all have to leave!"
"She'll kill you, just like she killed everyone" He uttered once more.
"Calm down" Aiden uttered in a soft voice, moving forward to touch him.
"No!" He yelled, retreating slowly while staring at them all.
"Run!" He screamed.
"I plead with to tell us what's going on" Aiden said to him immediately.
The boy remained silent, shivering and gazing around in fear.
Slowly and cautiously, he leaned forward to speak, but wasn't give the chance to, as a force, one so powerful, sailed in the air, wiping out cold every single one of them.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my first attempt at writing a novel. I am preparing to participate in the 2017 NaNoWriMo event so enjoy the first chapter as that's here early only to ensure that I have a place to post once the event starts. This means the first novel/book will have a target of 50,000 words. I'm excited to attempt this challenge despite the hurdles I will have to overcome. I do have a demanding full time job so planning time to write and make weekly releases starting in November will be my biggest challenge. Also, please accept my apologies on my cover. I'm not an artist and the only digital tool available at my disposal is the stock microsoft paint. So I did my best to create a decent cover as I did not want to steal the work of another. If there are those interested by the end of November in donating a new fan made cover then I will look into replacing the old cover.
