Day 2

In the morning Rex was more than grumpy when he was woken up by echo. Why did this have to end?

"how long have I got ?"

"about half an hour" echo replied.

He was already dressed.

Rex groaned in annoyance ,got up and left

(y/n) the sofa. He looked at her arm again.

'Why did she never tell me?'

He went into the bathroom and grabbed a flannel and wetted it in the sink then went back to the living room, folded it and placed it on her burn. He then went off to get changed before everyone else woke up.

At the beach, echo and (y/n) were going to snorkel and see what they could find.

While they were setting up their gear echo had the idea of putting their comlinks into the snorkel so they could communicate.

Fives walked over.

"You two are a pair of absolute nerds. " he joked.

"thanks for the compliment" echo replied, still busy with his Snorkel.

When they were out there, they saw a lot of wildlife but there was one occurrence in particular. There were Jellyfish.

Lots of jellyfish.

"I can't believe how many there are. " gasped echo.

(y/n) was quite in shock as well. The sea of jellyfish was starting to make it quite difficult to continue.

"they weren't here yesterday where the hell did they all come from?"

"brung in my the tide maybe?" guessed echo

"I'm gonna take that answer." she replied.

"well wherever they came from I'm leaving," said echo, "coming ?"

"No I think I'll stay out here for a little bit more" the young Jedi answered, "the rays are so cute."

"alright, but be careful." said echo then he left.

"there were so many" explained echo, "I don't even know where they came from. "

"well they aren't going to be poisonous we aren't in the right place for them. " said Jesse, sipping a pina calada.

"yeah but they are still going to pack a punch though it's a jellyfish" said kix.

"but as long as it isn't with a custard fish your alright. " fives grinned.

"fives your a great soldier but a right idiot at times. " Rex had a beer, "where's the general?"

"oh she wanted to stay abit longer" echo Said.

"half an hour longer is cutting it a bit though don't you think?" fives raised an eyebrow.

Rex quietly sipped his beer. It was clear to fives and echo that he was starting to get wary but he was hiding it very well.

"speak of the devil," kix pointed over to the sea and there she was walking out holding her mask, ever so slightly limping. She was hiding her wrist but Rex just brushed it off.

" now where the hell have you been?" asked jesse.

"in the sea where else?" she laughed.

Kix raised an eyebrow but it was left unseen. 'why has she hiding her hand?'

"anyway who's up for a game of volleyball?" fives shouted reveling a ball quite literally out of nowhere.

Jesse had basically given up "where and when did you get that, where did she come from and where the hell has my pina colada gone ?"

Echo looked underneath the table to see hardcase coincidentally holding an empty pina colada glass grinning from ear to ear.

He had somehow grabbed it from under the table while Jesse wasn't looking.

(y/n) noticed him down there from where she was standing.

"run"

Hardcase dropped the glass and shot off down the beach leaving Jesse completely gob smacked.

"how the hell did he ..... HARDCASE!!!!!!!!!!" he got up to run after him.

"I'll join you" Rex quickly said, downing the rest of his pint and running off as well.

"oh dear force!" shouted echo running after the others along with fives.

Kix sighed and got up as well. He looked back at (y/n), "you coming general?"

"No I'm fine. I need to get some water. I'll let you lot handle it!" she laughed.

Kix gave her a Look.

"trust me kix I'm fine. Go off with the others"

It was clear kix didn't believe her but he went off anyway, much to (y/n)'s relief.

After they left, (y/n) fell onto one of the seats and slammed her fist on the table trying not to cry.

It wasn't truly realized that there was something wrong with her until dinner.

(y/n) and Rex were abit late and were still in the apartment while all the others were in the hotel having dinner. Rex was waiting for (y/n) to come out of the bathroom. When she did she was wearing a spotty blue summer dress with a thick bracelet covering her right wrist.

Rex looked at her in awe.

"You look beautiful. "

She went red.

"You look nice too" she blushed.

"kandosii'la mesh'la jetii " he said while picking her up and twirling her around. She winced abit when she was put back down but Rex didn't notice.

As they got out of the door (y/n) backed away from him a little.

"what's wrong?" he frowned.

"we aren't meant to..." she stumbled on her words abit but he got the message.

"No one's here. No one's going to know. " he reasured her.

As they were walking down they got closer to eachother and he went to hold her hand.

(y/n) tried to get out of it looking worried.

• No no no no•

Rex was starting to get slightly annoyed. "No one's going to see us. I'm tired of having to hide away all the time why can't we just enjoy the moment?"

He worked his hand down (y/n)'s Arm to her hand but when he got down to her wrist she visibly flinched with pain. She tried to cover it up but it was no use.

Rex stopped on the path. He gently lifted (y/n)'s hand and slowly pulled the sweatband off. It was plastered with stings and cuts and was starting to go red and swollen.

It was a complete mess.

Rex just stared. Why didn't she tell him?

(y/n) panicked and tried to explain herself.

"I wwas exploring by the Rocks when my foot jammed and its tenticles got stuck round my hand I couldn't get up to the water to breath so that's why I was gone for ages it was a pure accident I didn't mean to-"

She was cut off by a hug.

Rex hugged her so tightly, only thinking of the pain she could have been in.

Why in force didn't she tell him?

"don't you ever keep that from me again."

He said kissing her Head.

It all made sense now. The reason why she hid her wrist, the reason why her face was so red. It wasn't sunburn; she was holding back tears.

He pulled back still looking at her, "why didn't you tell me mesh'la?" his deep brown eyes stared into hers.

•he looks so worried•

"it wasn't a massive deal at the time and I didn't want to worry anybody. Besides, I've had worse injuries in battle. "

Rex wasn't buying it.

"a massive deal?" he lifted her wrist in his hand again and studied it, "Your wrist looks like it has had seven blaster bolts through it and it's blowing up like a balloon."

He was right.

"I don't care if you trip on holiday or get shot in battle it still means something. I still love you and if I could help it you would never get hurt. "

He looked back up to her "does it hurt?"

"what?"

"a simple question, does it hurt?"

"well..."

Rex raised an eyebrow.

"yes?"

"then your getting it checked"

"but-"

"you are. end of Story. "

He wasn't going to let this go.

Eventually she gave up.

"fine"

As they started walking again her ankle gave way. She fell straight onto Rex who caught her with ease.

•was he expecting me to do that?•

Rex moved to the side of her good wrist and foot.

"and your leaning on me. "

This time (y/n) didn't object-feeling admittedly worse- and used Rex for abit more support. He put his hand round her waist as they made their way to the dinner hall.

They made their way to a table where Jesse and kix were sitting, eating dinner.

"Rex I'm fine now. " she said quietly

"no you aren't." he replied.

"Rex, I order you to stand down. "

"too late. "

"now where in kriffs name have you two been?" kix asked holding his fork.

"we got side tracked. " Rex replied.

Kix looked down at the way Rex was holding the general and had a basic idea of what happened.

"I knew It! I just knew it! Sit her down."

Rex did as kix instructed, knowing not to mess with a Medic.

Kix immediately went to look at her wrist.

"this is the last time I trust you with anything to do with injuries" he said making Jesse laugh.

The medic looked up at Rex, "when did you notice she had been stung?"

'crap!'

"I saw when on the way here her ankle gave way and she fell onto me." he lied.

Not all lies but not all truth either.

Kix examined her wrist more, you've had a bad reaction to the poison, and don't try to tell me your not in pain you clearly are and your going to need treatment for it."

He looked at her ankle "you've cut and bruised it here and there. It's going to need rest. If you keep it rested for the rest of the night you should be okay to go swimming tomorrow but don't run."

•dear lord he's going full on medic on me!•

Kix opened up a backpack and took a bottle of murky liquid out.

"do you carry that everywhere you go?" (y/n) asked.

"giving our apartments track record someone's eventually going to injure themselves at some point." he replied taking the lid off.

"can't this at least wait until after I've had dinner?" she tried asking to get out of it.

"General, with all due respect your ankle can't support you. Also if you wait any longer your wrist will be so swollen you couldn't use it anyway. " he stated, "you can't get out of this even if you tried."

(y/n) gave Rex a look basically saying 'thank you so kriff dam much'

Kix held the Jedi's wrist, 'she isn't going to like this'

"this may hurt" he tried saying in the kindest tone.

As the gel made contact with the jellyfish stings (y/n) bit down on her cheek hard with the pain. Her face went red and her eyes started tearing up.

Jesse couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She didn't deserve this.

After kix wrapped the Jedi's hand in a bandage and put a bacta patch on the ankle.

"help her back to the room," kix ordered Rex, "the gel will work but she's going to feel tired soon After."

"I'm still here you know" She piped up with some annoyance.

"yes General but I know you won't do what I say and in a few minutes you'll be on the floor unconscious." he turned to rex, "make sure she gets there."

(y/n) was already starting to lull out and tears were starting to stream down her face. Tears that should have been cried hours ago.

Rex helped her off the chair and they walked away.

"she's almost acting like a child " Jesse muttered to kix.

"trust me you should have seen hardcase" kix sniggered.

"The pains only going to get worse until she fully falls asleep" he continued, "Rex will have his hands full. "

"I hope it just doesn't wreck her time for her" Jesse replied, feeling sympathy for the Jedi.

"trust me she won't be in any pain when she wakes up tomorrow," kix reasured him, "it's really her fault though. If she said earlier she wouldn't be in this much pain. "

"why do you think she hid it?" Jesse asked.

"well if your stuck in a room of obnoxious clones would you want to be crying in pain looking like a wimp?" he answered.

"The general isn't a wimp!" Jesse looked annoyed.

"tell that to her!" kix continued eating his dinner.

Trying to hold someone who is lulling in and out of consciousness is a fairly hard job as Rex was beginning to find out. One minute she would be fine the next she would go completely limp! He eventually gave up. He picked her up fully in his arms and carried on back to the room bridal style. She wasn't too heavy but nowhere near the Weight of his brother's. Compared to them she was a feather.

"I can walk still" she quietly slurred out and fell asleep.

'even when she's out of it she won't stop battling' Rex thought to Himself, 'maybe a holiday will do her some good'.

He also had to really admit the same for himself. Being the captain he was always uptight and thinking about orders, tactics, algorithms and the rest of his men. Also he was fairly sure that it wasn't normal to be able to function like a normal human being without sleep for a week. He did this once in a mission to get more done only to end up getting slaughtered by everyone who found out. When he was eventually ordered to sleep by anakin he slept for the next 17 hours.

Flashback

"Rex when was the last time you slept?" Skywalker joked.

Rex went suddenly silent. How was he meant to answer that?!

Ahsoka turned round and repeated the question in a serious manner "I haven't seen you sleep in ages"

'are you implying you watch me sleep?'

"yes Rex, when was the last time you slept?" anican said in a more serious manner, ordering the answer.

Rex looked down at the floor not wanting to answer.

"last week sir. "

"WHAT?!? And you have been working all

That time?" anikan was lost for words.

"yes sir. "

"well go and get some sleep right now!" he ordered.

End of flashback.

He layed her on the sofa. She was out for it now and according to kix wouldn't wake up until the morning.

A few hours later everyone was back and in bed, this time though everything was quiet because the didn't want to wake up the general.
