Angelina does not have the intention of being Chase's fiancee...again.
She wanted Evelina to become Chase's fiancee. Why? Because she wanted Evelina to feel what she felt.
How it felt when your own fiancee ignores you and neglects you.
If Evelina and Chase are engaged, and Chase is in love with someone else. Won't it be like they switched places?
"Pardon me for asking but, why is lady Angelina interested in swordsmanship?" Chase asked. His eyes filled with expectation.
Angelina had long prepared the answer.
"I just think swordsmanship is quite majestic and powerful. Everytime I look out my window and see the knights practicing, I can't help but be in awe. "
"Other than that, having skills in swordsmanship would be very useful. Whether it be self defense or something else..." Angelina those words with interest and passion in her eyes.
As if she truly was passionate in swordsmanship.
"Exactly!" Chase said rather loudly. He always spoke gently and a little quietly.
So not only was Angelina suprised, he was to.
He immediately shut his mouth and his face reddened in embarrassment.
He coughed a couple of times before saying.
"I agree with lady Angelina. I too am very passionate in swordsmanship. Although I'm not the best swordsman, it would be my pleasure teach you." Chase said. He loved swordsmanship. He spent his free time dueling or training.
So he didn't mind sharing the beauty of swordsmanship with others.
Angelina gasped and put on a suprised and excited expression.
"Really? That would be wonderful!" On the outside she looked like a childish young lady who just received amazing news. But she sneered in the inside.
'man...I never knew he was so easy to fool!'
**********
Eric was laying down on the cold, hard floor of his 'bedroom'.
He was extremely injured. Blood flowed down his head.
Earlier, Evelina came in and saw the empty bowl and cup.
She was furious and immediately kicked Eric.

"You! Where did you get food!?"
"I told you that your not allowed to eat as long as you didn't find a way to kill that b*tch!"
Evelina hit Eric several times. She grabbed his hair and hit him against the wall.
And blood flowed down his head.
Evelina questioned Eric of who gave him the food.
Eric repeatedly protested that he didn't know several times. But Evelina was so furious that she didn't even listen.
She was already furious due to Angelina's previous actions, and now her last bit of sense of reason snapped.
She didn't hesitate and beat up Eric so roughly that even Carol, who was used to doing horrible things for Evelina, shivered in shock and dear.
Evelina finally stopped. She stepped back and let of Eric.
His was heavily injured. But he had grown numb to the pain.
"Miss....your dress.." Carol pointed out that Evelina's dress had become dirty.
"Tsk!" Evelina felt a surge of anger arise. But she restrained herself this time and left with Carol.
Leaving the injured young boy laying down on the cold, hard, and dirty floor.
Eric had a thought. This was even worse than death.
He was beaten and abused every day. And if he wasn't abused, he was used.
When he finally had the chance to rest, he only came back to a cold and dark room.
There was no window. The only source of light was through the crack of the door.
When he read the book left by his parents, he had to get closer to the door and try to aim the light on the book.
He thought once he followed Evelina he would be able to live a better life.
But he felt worst.
At least he wasn't alone back then. There were other slaves with him. They would rely on each other.
But now he had no one.
His parents were gone.
He didn't have any family members.
His friends were also gone.

He let out a light chuckle. What happened?
He used to live a normal childhood. His parents weren't rich, but they were able to provide him all he needed.
How did he, a normal young boy living a normal childhood, turn into a slave used to curse people to death?
He didn't know who he should feel resentment to.
He blamed his father for killing his mother and using dark magic. Which led to their end.
He blamed his mother for leaving him.
He blamed the people in charge that decided to sell him to a slave seller. Why couldn't they just send him to an orphanage?
He blamed the slave seller that sold him to Evelina.
And he blamed Evelina for everything she has done.
He didn't know that once he followed Evelina and entered the gates, he could never go back.
He thought his future was bright.
His parents told him that once he grows up and learned more, he might be able to get a job involving magic.
He never knew was the 'job' he would grow up to have.
**********
The Skyler family said their goodbyes and saw Chase leave.
What they didn't know was that Angelina and Chase had agreed to meet again.
This time in the Casspan mansion.
Chase was going to teach Angelina how to use the sword.
Angelina already knew how, but of course right now she was the weak Angelina Skyler.
A young lady that had no experience with the sword. So of course she couldn't just suddenly use a sword.
*********
Marie was humming happily.
"....why are you so happy...?" Angelina who was painting asked.
"Did miss forget? Miss's debut is only three weeks away!"
"Isn't it my debut?...why do you seem more happy then me?" Angelina laughed.
"Miss just doesn't understand! I remember when miss was just a baby! And now miss has grown into a beautiful young lady!"
"Haha" Angelina giggled.
She remembered back then when the whole Bailey family was preparing for her debut.
She was put on a strict diet to insure that she looked her best at the debut.
The week before her debut, the Marchioness was twice as strict as she was normally.
Remembering those moments from the good days, Angelina felt weird.
Her heart felt....strange..
She felt longing and sadness.
She didn't miss the Bailey family. She missed the life she had.
'come one Lilith...! It's time to let go...! Your Angelina Skyler now!'
**********
Two days later, the whole Skyler family ate lunch together.
It was a rare occurrence.
It was a peaceful meal.
Alex ignored Angelina and so did Evelina. However Eveline did give out some 'compliments' for Angelina.
In Evelina's mind, the way to improve her reputation in the mansion was to compliment others, and make people view her as a kind and virtuous lady.
Angelina smiled at Evelina's compliments.
But on the inside she really didn't care.
Almost all Evelina's words sounded more like an wild dog's barking then a sweet voice of a lady.
Just as they were eating, the butler, who was holding an envelope came in and told them something they never expected.
"What is it?" The duke asked.
"Master, the young master from the Casspan family has sent an invitation- "
After hearing only half of the butler's words, Evelina's face suddenly brightened.
"- addressed to the youngest miss"
!!!!
Evelina's lips which was curved up slowly fell down.
Everyone except for Angelina was shocked.
The duke who was cutting a piece of steak stopped. His hands were both frozen.
Angelina who almost couldn't help smiling, had to grab her napkin to cover her mouth. She made it look like she was merely wiping her mouth.

The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
