《The Villainess's Great Revenge》73

"Marchioness! Do you know what you are saying!? Do you know what consequences you will face for lying to the Emperor!?" The Emperor stood up and shouted.
"....." Evelina clenched her teeth and snapped, "Shut up...shut up...shut up!"
"....." Everyone present in the room felt like they were just hit by lightning. Did...did she really just shout at the Emperor...!?
However Evelina had no intention to stop. It was as if all the emotions she had been holding back, all the frustration she bottled up broke free.
"Ahahaha! I've been lying! You all are fools to have believed me so easily!" Evelina laughed like a madman. She knew that there was no escaping this. She knew that this is it for her.
"That woman...Lilith..." Evelina sneered and her expression became twisted. She paused for a second before continuing, "poor girl....no one believes her..."
"You see, she never really tried to murder me... it was all me...I planned everything! It was all my doing!" Evelina screamed without restraint.
"You...." Chase felt though his head was hit by a large hammer. Hearing the 'forbidden name' once again after years, Chase felt a strange sense of reminiscence in his heart.
Meanwhile the Emperor's eyes darkened and his expression turned ashen. Was what that woman said true? Was the young child he regarded as part of his own family truly innocent!?
The Emperor's eyes reddened and his face grew even more angry. His heart immediately dropped. He felt guilt, regret, sadness, and even frustration.
"Eve! Don't talk nonsense!" Chase didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to know if Evelina's words were the truth. He didn't want to bear with the burden of 'killing' someone who he had known for years.
"Nonsense? But it's all true! Oh Chase...you were so fixated on finding 'true love' that you completely ignored the girl who really and truly loved you..! You even played a part in her death! So, how does it feel?" Evelina's smile grew larger. It almost looked demonic and terrifying.
Looking at the 'real' Evelina, Chase's eyes widened in shock. This wasn't the girl he knew. This wasn't the girl he loved. The girl who was kind and loving. But perhaps she never actually cared about him. At this moment, he saw her for who she truly is...
Chase's expression darkened. Did Lilith truly love him? He always thought she merely liked and followed him for money and power. But it seems he has misjudged her.
Lilith wasn't the one who loved him for his power, and Evelina wasn't the one who truly loved and cared for him. It seems like he accidentally switched their roles in the past...
Lilith was the one who truly loved him, and Evelina was the true power-chaser.
"Enough!" The Emperor shouted. His face full of anger and rage as she ordered the guards to arrest Evelina.
"Guards seize this traitor! She has committed treason by lying to the people and the emperor!" At the Emperor's orders, the guards emerged from all directions and ran to capture the Marchioness, now dimmed traitor.

Without thinking twice, Evelina, who was in a kneeling position beside the plague victim, stood up and ran towards the exit.
Somehow, Evelina managed to get out of the throne room. She didn't know where she was going, she just wanted to run and if possible, escape.
"Catch her!"
Evelina looked back at her shoulders and saw that more guards came to catch her. Her face turned pale and she ran even faster.
She wore shoes that were not made to run, her foot began to ache and feel numb. She didn't know how long she ran or what directions she ran to, but she ended up running in the forest beside the palace.
More and more guards formed behind her.
Her heart felt like it was just about to pound out of her chest. Sweat formed on her forehead and her foot couldn't run anymore.
After a gasp, Evelina collapsed and fell on the ground. Her legs felt like it was being crushed.
At that moment the world was silent except for the crushing sounds of the grass from the guards footsteps, her rough breathing, and the scream of guards chasing after her.
The tiredness eventually took over Evelina and she could no longer keep her eyes open.
Cold, pain, discomfort, and panic. That was what she felt before her consciousness faded.
Warm, and comfortable. That was how she felt when she opened her eyes and her 5 senses came back to her.
"...." When she opened her eyes, she was confused.
She woke up in her bedroom back in the Skyler Mansion. Her family was surrounding her with concerned expressions.
But her gaze was instead directed at the silver haired lady.
'Angelina...?'
Evelina felt a sudden chill in her back. 'How is she still alive?'
After two days, Evelina has come to the realization and came to accept the fact that she has somehow traveled back in time.
However for the past two days, she kept an eye on Angelina. She couldn't understand how she was alive. But during that time, she realized that Angelina is very different than how she used to be.
She was no longer meek, weak, and a coward. She even has the guts to roll her eyes at her and walk pass her with her head up high.
To Evelina this was a big deal. In the past, everytime Evelina and Angelina passed each other, Angelina would always lower her head as if wanting to erase her presence.
But then she remembered something. This 'new' Angelina was extremely similar to how Lilith acted.
And she finally confirmed her suspicions when she heard Angelina refer to her as 'an ugly pig'. When she heard that, she immediately knew.

"what happened?" Eric approached Angelina. He was slightly sweating.
"....." Angelina knew she couldn't just tell him about the whole situation. She didn't tell him about her past life. It would be too sudden and shocking if she suddenly told him about a whole other timeline!

"It's nothing..." Angelina clenched her fist and sighed.
Eric knew Angelina was hiding something, but he decided not to ask any further. If she didn't want to tell him, he didn't need to ask.

"What? Is what you said true?" Charles with a stunned expression asked his subordinate.
"Yes, your majesty. This one doesn't dare to deceive you" the man wearing a black cloak half kneeled and lowered his head.
Charles ran his hand through his hair and sighed. It seems their coming days won't be so peaceful...
He knew he shouldn't get in Angelina's business. He knew she wanted to handle this on her own, but he couldn't help but worry. He was worried something might happend and he'll lose her again.
"You may leave"
"Yes your majesty" the man said as he obediently bowed and left the room swiftly.
Charles closed his eyes before sighing once more. Everytime he closed his eyes, an image of her would always appear in his mind.

"Miss....is something the matter...? You seem strange..." Carol asked while keeping her head down. She didn't dare ask Evelina, but her curiosity took the better of her.
"It's none of your business! Mind your own business! You know what will happen if you test my patience..." Evelina glared viciously at her trembling maid.
"Ye-yes miss! Please forgive me! This lowly one won't do it again!" Carol fell to her knees and begged. She knew....she knew if she crossed the line...Evelina would...
"......" Evelina casted a glance at the kneeling woman and sneered. 'she was still the same...'

A soft gust of wind caused the eye catching autumn leafs to gracefully fall and land on the ground.
It was a sunny day, but also quite cloudy. To everyone attending the banquet held by the Casspan family, it was a delightful weather.
"Tsk...there she is..." as usual, Rienne was bitterly glaring at the beautiful lady with long wavy blonde hair, who was currently surrounded by men.
"Lady Rienne, don't stare at her too much. She'll be happy knowing your paying attention to her" Angelina chuckled.
"Heh... she's nothing but an attention seeking b*tch.." Rienne scoffed and shifted her gaze away from the hateful lady.
"Oh my! You just described her perfectly..!" Angelina made a suprised expression before sneering.
The two ladies giggled together as they mocked the same person.
Alice looked at the two and pouted. Why was she always left out when they joked together about this certain topic....
"Yeah, she's trash..!" Alice actually didn't know which lady the two were mocking, but she wanted to join in the fun.
",......" Silence fell on the two ladies before they let out cackles of laughter.
"Yeah...she is...she is..." Rienne choked from laughter. Angelina tried her best to hold back her laughter, but a few sounds of giggling managed to escape her mouth.
"Hm..? What is sister Rienne laughing about?" A sudden voice interrupted the two lady's laughing.
"Huh? Oh..." Rienne turned to look at the young man behind her before turning back to her friends and introducing him.
"This is my younger twin brother, Adrien"
"It's a pleasure to meet you ladies" Adrien politely bowed and smiled gently.
"Lady Rienne has a twin brother?" One of the noble ladies asked with curiosity.
Adrien has always kept a low profile, so not many younger nobles actually knew him.
"Mhmm. He usually travels a lot." Rienne responded with a calm gaze.
"The pleasure is ours" Angelina smiled and did a polite curtsy.
"O-oh! Yes.... it's a pleasure to meet you as well, sir Adrien!" The ladies who were previously in a daze due to Adrien's good looks, immediately snapped out of their trance and curtsied.
"Uhmm...hello"
Adrien felt someone poking his back and slightly turned his head too look behind him.
There he saw a beautiful young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes.
"And who might you be...?" Adrien asked with a polite tone.
"I'm the Skyler family's eldest daughter, Evelina. It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance." The young girl introduced herself with blooming red cheeks.
"Evelina...?" Hearing this name, Adrien furrowed his brows. Although he was away for most of the time, he knew his sister hated a lady named Evelina Skyler.
"Is something wrong sir?" Evelina blinked and her delicate eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings.
"Hey! Stay away from my brother!" Rienne shoved Evelina away with a raged expression.
"Ah!" Evelina was known to have a delicate body. She immediately fell without strength to the ground. Her scream of fright was loud and many people immediately turned their heads to pay attention.
"Rienne!" Rulias was seen making his way through the crowd and rushing to Evelina's side.
"Rienne, why would you push her!?" Rulias shouted as he cradled the weak and frightened Evelina in his arms.
"You... it's none of your business! And would you stop treating her as a delicate little flower!? She won't die from a push!" Rienne clenched her fist and shouted at Rulias.
"Sir Rulias... aren't you being too intimate with my sister? She is already betrothed. It would cause rumors to spread if you keep on acting too close" Angelina suddenly spoke. She was smiling but her gaze was extremely cold. The scene of Evelina being protected by a man disgusted her.
"You...! Am I wrong to defend her?" Rulias tightened his arms around Evelina as he said that.
"Ugh you're so blind! Can't you see that she was attempting to flirt with my brother! It was obvious she was trying to add a new member to her group of admires!" Rienne grew even more furious when she saw Rulias still defending Evelina.
"Rienne! Eve isn't like that-" Rulias tried to say something but he was cut off by her.
"No shut up! I've been waiting to say this for a long time..." Rienne shifted her gaze to the trembling lady in Rulias's arms and shouted once more.
"Forgive me for my language but...Evelina would you stop acting like a wh*re!?"

And what about home? The more Leah learns about this world, the less she believes that she woke up on the right side of the bed - or more accurately, on the right side of the conflict.
