《Home | The Originals》Chapter 10: Memory Lane

Klaus speeds back into the room with Sophie and drop her in a chair. "We had a deal. You protect my unborn child, I dismantle Marcel's army, and whilst I've been busy fulfilling my part of the bargain, you allowed Hayley to be attacked and almost killed by a gaggle of lunatic witches." Klaus ranted as sits down on the couch I'm on as we interrogate Sophie.
"I had nothing to do with it, I swear. Hayley and I are linked, remember? She dies, I die." Sophie defended.
"Then who were they?" Rebekah asked her.
"They're a faction of extremists. Sabine stupidly told them about some vision she had about the baby." Sophie said frustrated with the situation Sabine caused.
"The baby hasn't left the womb yet, so what vision could she possibly have?" I asked.
"She has them all the time. They're totally open to interpretation. I'm guessing she's wrong on this one." Sophie answered.
"I don't care about the amount of visions she has, it doesn't answer my question I just asked you." I said raising my voice a little.
"Pretty much that Klaus' baby would bring death to all witches." Sophie said.
"Ah, well, I grow fonder of this child by the second." Klaus said.
I grabbed a pillow from underneath me and threw it at Klaus. He dodged it and looked at me with an raised eyebrow. "Stop being evil." I told him making him chuckle a little.
"Sophie, look. I promised Elijah that I would protect the Mikaelson miracle baby whilst he tries to win your witch Davina's loyalty. Why don't you tell me just how extreme this faction is?" Rebekah asked.
"Elijah is talking to Davina?" Sophie asked with a look of excitement.

"Yeah, as we speak. I imagine." Rebekah answered.
"I'm guessing she'll have plenty to say about that crowd." Sophie said.
"Well, of course she does. After what her own kind tried to do to her there is no way she'll help us. And she's a teenager, she is as stubborn as a human one." I said and Klaus took interest in my little rant.
"Do tell." He said to me and Sophie and puts his arm on the back of the couch where my head was laying on.
I looked at Sophie. "I wasn't always an advocate for the witches. My sister was devoted like our parents, and our upbringing was very strict, which drove me nuts. The minute I turned 21, I left the quarter to travel...and play, but I wanted to be a chef. So I came back to Rousseau's." Sophie said starting her story off there.
"Where were you in all of this?" Rebekah asked me making me sigh.
"I was in bed with Angel's father. We met two months earlier at Chicago. We slept together and I never saw him again until at Rousseau's and we had too much to drink. The only reason he was even at New Orleans was because he wanted a break from his Alpha duties. I was just minding my business and running a store." I said and she nodded.
"So Angel is a hybrid then?" She asked me and I nodded my head. "The only way she can become all three is if she died. Right now she is a witch and a werewolf." I told her.
"My sister, Jane-Anne, found me and told me that the elders had voted to continue with the harvest." Sophie said.
"What the bloody hell is the harvest?" Rebekah asked her.

"It's this ritual that her coven does every 3 centuries so their bond to their ancestors will be restored. It's basically to appease them to keep their ancestral power flowing. My only problem with it is why the ancestors want to kill 4 girls that could be an descendent from them." I said. Klaus was rubbing shapes on my shoulder keeping me calm. "Why haven't I heard of this?" He asked Sophie.
"Because the Harvest Always seemed like a myth, a story passed down through generations like Noah's ark or The Buddha walking on water, the kind some people take literally and some people don't." She answered. "They has the girls of our community preparing for months. 4 would be chosen for the Harvest. They said that it was an honor, that they were special. I thought it was a myth."
"Was it?" Rebekah asked.
"No it was definitely not a myth." I said and Sophie put her head down in shame.
I heard a phone ringing and Klaus sat up from next to me so he can answer it. "Marcel, a bit early in the day for you, isn't it?" Klaus said into the phone.
"I know. I make this look easy, but I still have an empire to run." I hear Marcel say.
"Rather you than me. All that responsibility seems like such a bore." Klaus said.
"This might spice things up. I just heard about a bunch of dead witches out in the bayou, the kind of damage a werewolf might do, only there was no full moon. I have an informant out there I need to meet, and I would love for you to go with me." Marcel said.
"Dead witches in the bayou." Klaus repeated whilst he walks around the room. "Sounds like less of a problem and more like a cause for celebration." Klaus said and Sophie looks up at him with interest in their conversation.
"Well, something killed them and may still be out there, and with your blood the only cure for a werewolf bite, I would love for you to accompany me." Marcel said.
"Well, why not? I haven't been to the bayou in ages. I'm on my way." Klaus said.
"Peace out, brother." Marcel said before the line ends.
"You can't go out there now. I need to gather the witches remains and consecrate them. If I don't get to them before sundown, we lose the link to their magic." Sophie said.
"Those witches tried to kill Hayley." He points to said girls who walked into the room. "I prefer for Marcel's informant not to find anything that would lead him back to us, to her, or to, you know, that." He points at Hayley's stomach.
"You are all class." Hayley said then took a sip from her drink.
"Stay put and save the rest of your story till I return." Klaus demanded Sophie and then left the house.
"I need to get Angel up before she stays awake all night." I said getting up from the couch and walking up the stairs.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.

The Genre of My Life Was Randomized?
The wheel spun and the genre changed. In every chapter, a new canvas made up of a thousand words was formed. I, the creator, do not know the future of this novel. I, the author, is but a mere slave that writes and creates what the wheel has given. What would happen after? What fate awaits the main character? When would you encounter the next chapter? Besides the latter, only the wheel could answer. Author's Note:Salutations dear reader. I'd like to dissuade you from reading this novel due to the following facts: 1. I am an amateur/new/beginner writer so it could be said that I don't know what I'm doing. 2. This novel is something which I wrote in order to hone my skills in adaptability, creativity, and writing in of itself. 3. Every chapter was made after spinning a wheel with the genres: Action, Horror, Romance, Comedy, Fantasy (as of writing) twice. The genres then would be showed in the chapter through theme, part of the story, flow, character, or whatever man idk. In case the wheel would show the same genre twice, the chapter itself would have the result as the main theme of the story with the other genres being free to use in order to fully show the theme. 4. I'm basically yoloing the story, trying to make sense of it even with the randomness of the current and future chapters; I swear I'm not a masochi.. *ahem* moving on, a variable left by the previous chapter won't suddenly just disappear because the next chapter doesn't have the same genre as before, meaning if a character that fits a genre was shown on let's say "Chapter 1", said character wouldn't just disappear or cease to exist for no reason at "Chapter 2" or the following chapters just because the character doesn't fit the genres. To make it short this isn't a collection of short stories but one big story instead. 5. Etc.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
