"I'm here Elijah!" I yelled out as I walked inside warehouse 57 at the docks. I turn a corner to see him and Hayley standing in front of a circle with Rebekah in the middle with some symbol on her forehead.
"Is there a way to enter the circle? It's showing itself like a confinement spell. If we don't remove her, we can't break the link." He told me.
I walk up closer to the circle and get a real good look at it. "It's a convoluted spell. It's like a witch's recipe. You can spoil the balance by adding a more potent ingredient, a mystical binding agent, volcanic ash, rock salt, anything up to and including eye of newt." I told him.
Elijah looked back at Hayley before turning back to me. "What about the blood of a witch?" He asked me and I nodded my head.
"You can use my blood instead of Hayley's. I should be able to overpower the spell." I told Elijah and he let out a soft sigh of relief.
I bit into my wrist and held it over the circle, letting my blood flow on top. The circle starts to sizzle as smoke flows from where my blood had landed. The smoke went all around and came back to my blood. I pulled my hand away as my wrist heals. Elijah took a step inside the circle and quickly got Rebekah out of there.

"Heard you had a little meeting with Papa Tunde." I said as I walk into Nik's room. He turned around and hugged me and I was surprised but I hugged him back.
"I tried to call you. I thought he had gotten to you like he did the others." He told me as he pulled away. "Where's Angel?"

"She is at home taking her nap. It's where I have always been until Elijah called me to help get Rebekah out of the circle." I said. Nik held his hand against my cheek making smile but then I remembered what I actually came here for.
"Ever since I told you about my first daughter it left me thinking about something. You said that your family has been living here for 300, (I don't know if this is right) right?" I asked.
"Yes, we have." Nik answered nodding his head.
"Right. So, if you've been here for 3 centuries how did he ever find you?" I asked him.
He pondered my question for a bit. "I never knew how. I've never questioned it since he was always able to find me before." He said.
I sigh giving up. "Okay then." I said before I here chatter outside of his room. "It's time for you to go be a king, or something like that." I pulled away but he grabbed my hand.
"They can wait for a few seconds. I want to spend some time with my queen." Nik said with a bright smile.
I smile back at him. "You can. After you finish with everything. But if you still want to spend time with me, my apartment is right across from the abattoir." I said before I gave him a kiss and whoosh away.

This Used to be About Dungeons
This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons. Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. And yes, sometimes you go down into the dungeons with your friends, and you kill monsters there, or disarm traps, but when you come out, you realize you've found the perfect magic item to give to one of the local kids that helped you out when your cat was sick. Look, the dungeons are always going to be there, and sometimes you need to make a journey to one of the Spirit Gates, or make a pilgrimage with the local Cleric of Symmetry to a holy shrine. Your tour through the local dungeons can wait. You'll have rivalries with other groups, and find some dungeon eggs that need to be carefully incubated in case they turn out to be something valuable, and help a friend to build a fishing weir. There's a big world out there, a mostly tame place with lots of magic, and even more to do and see. Join me, won't you?The cover image is Morning Sunlight Effect, Eragny, by Camille Pissarro.

The Electric Archipelago (WIP)
This is the first draft of my new cyberpunk novel, The Electric Archipelago. In the future humanity is imprisoned by massive corporations. Computers are directly connected to their brains, creating a nightmarish state of absolute control, every action is monitored and harshly judged. Perhaps worst of all, the victim's perception of reality itself is controlled. A system of social credit hangs over everyone's heads. If you want to survive you will need to pick a company and stay loyal to that brand. But it goes beyond that, because each corporation has been infiltrated and taken over by forces that are interested in more than just profit. John is a Skinwalker, a free man, a man who is immune to these restrictions. He goes where he wants and does what he wants, moving from one augmented reality to the next, always looking for the next score.
