《Home | The Originals》Chapter 57: Stuck
Advertisement
(Now that I'm only updating on the weekends I decided to make my chapters even longer. I'll probably do something like one chapter gets one full episode. I can still do short chapters that leaves you waiting for what will happen next, but that is up to you guys)
The door opens and Klaus, Hayley and Hope came back inside the house but along with Cami which confused me. "What's Cami doing here?" I asked Klaus as Hayley and Hope went somewhere else in the house. Can't really help but stare at how Cami was inching closer and closer towards Nik like I was never going to notice. My left eyebrow twitched.
"Cami is here because she was going to be the next body Esther jumped into. We need to protect her." Klaus said and I can feel him staring deeply at my face and I guess something was making him smile.
"Okay." I said but I really wish she wasn't here, or more specifically next to Nik. "Ow!!" I yelled out and look down at Dove who continues to feed from my breast. I have a blanket covering me so no one can see anything private.
"What's wrong, love?" Nik asked me then he walks over to see what was happening with one of his kids in my arms.
"Each of your kids are biters. Every time I feed them I always get bit." I whined as Nik took a peek underneath the blanket and he gazes at Dove while she gazes back at him.
"Wonder where they got that from." Nik said making me glare at him. "Cami, I would like you to meet my other daughter Dove." I pulled Dove away from me and fix my shirt before pulling the blanket off of Dove so Cami can see her.
"You have another daughter?" Cami asked him.
"Three actually. I adopted Angel when my children were born." Nik said with a proud smile on his face.
"3 girls, and 5 boys. The others are in the next room." I said and Cami looked back down at Dove in shock.
"Back to business. Now that we've entombed our mother, I intend to finish making the city safe for hope and the rest of my kids which, to start, means dealing with the lingering problem of Finn." Klaus said as we walk into the living room Elijah was in but said person was staring out the window.
"Once Finn finds out what you have done to your mother he will not stop trying to get revenge." I said as Nik pulls me done onto his lap.
"And that's exactly why we need to keep you out of harm's way. Hayley, Nix and I will return home and take care of my wayward brother. Elijah will remain here with you. He's been experiencing some side effects since his ordeal as our mother's captive. Best he stay and convalesce." Klaus said.
"A single violent outburst at a filthy roadside café and one never hears the end of it." Elijah said as he turns to face us.
"You make it seem like that was supposed to be normal when we all know you don't act like that. Cami has a way with minds plagued by demons. You two can bond." I said.
Klaus pulled me up the seat with him. "Well, if you'll excuse me, we best be on my way. Rebekah should have woken up in the body of Angelica Barker. Once she cut the ties of Miss Barker's former life, she'll make her way directly here. You should expect her shortly." Klaus said as he helps me bring the seven children into the car and head back to New Orleans

"You must be Kol." I said making the witch turn around to look at me. "I can see the trouble maker look in your eyes that Nik talks so much about." I walked further into the room. "Phoenix Fire," I held my hand out to him.
"Kol Mikaelson, pleasure." Kol said and he took my hand in his and kissed the back of it. "Nik definitely won the lottery with you." He flirted.
This comment makes me chuckle and puts a smile on Kol's face. "You really are a trouble maker." I said.
"Yeah, well, when you're not really part of family, making trouble is the only thing you can do." Kol said as if it was no big deal.
I stare at him sadly. "That's not true." I said making him look back at me. "I'm not suppose to tell anyone this but Nik talks about you the most out of his siblings. All the pranks you guys do and the memories you share with each other. You can never tell with this family in my opinion but he deeply loves each and every one of his siblings. Finn, maybe, but at the end of the day you, Elijah, Klaus, and Finn are brothers."
Kol really didn't say anything after that. I think he was processing what I was saying to him. "And if this makes you feel better about things, I'll make sure you are involved in this family more often and give you the protection you need. I do have powers that are 1,000 times strong." I said and then I made a bottle appear in my hands. "Heard this was your favorite drink. La Fille Verte."
Kol grabbed the bottle out of my hands to look down at the covering picture. "Ding-dong. Wow. The witch is dead. Or undead." He said making me laugh. "Cheers."
The bottle suddenly broke suddenly in Kol's hands and me and Kol move out of the way slightly so nothing spilled over our clothes.
"Where is she?" I turn around to see Finn storm in Kol's new room.
"Oh goody. You're here." I said as I turn to face the oldest brother. "You look a bit peaky there mate. Doesn't he look peaky?" I asked Kol.
"He does look peaky." Kol agreed as he looks at his brother.
"Are you alright?" I asked Finn.
"Don't make me ask again." Finn threatens as he stares me down.
"Knowing you, Finn, I believe you are talking about your mother, Esther. Don't worry your little head about it though. She is perfectly safe and hidden from the real world." I said.
"You think you've won. Let's see how long arrogance lasts." He told me before glancing at Kol for a bit smirking while doing so then he left the Compound.
His little glance at Kol gave me a bad feeling and made me feel all protective. I pulled off my military necklace from my neck and started to chant. Once done I held my hand out with the necklace towards Kol and he stares at it confused then gave me the same face.
"I want you to have this." I said and took his hand out so I can forcefully give it to him. "Don't not under any circumstances tell anyone this. It's meant to surprise them. The necklace is spelled to protect you from all witch spells and curse. Tuck it in your shirt and never in your thousand years of life take it off." I whispered very lowly to him.

"Why?" He asked me.
"Well, seeing as you are the only true witch in the family, I don't trust Finn to not try something on you and because I am too powerful for my own good this necklace should help. Kol you are now like a brother to me. You deserve to be important to the family just as much Rebekah is. I also named one of my children after you." I said.
"Let me guess, Hunter." Kol said making me smile wide.
I nodded my head. "Hunter Cole Mikaelson."
~~~
Klaus held his hand out towards the balcony and I can hear his skin sizzling as it burns. I hear someone come into our bedroom and see Kol walk in. "Did he really just trap us all in here?" He asked us.
"He certainly did." Klaus said as he turns around to face his little brother. "Which means we have a witch problem. You're a witch. Fix it." He demanded and proceeded to leave out the room. I did not like his tone towards his brother. He could have asked him nicely.
"And what the bloody hell do you want me to do about it?" Kol asked him making Klaus walk back inside in stand in front of him.
"Well, considering the crowd, you'll be more motivated to find a solution. After all I can easily outwait our brother's antics. You on the other hand, might find yourself looking appetizing to some fellow prisoners." Klaus said.
"First off, you can ask your brother nicely to help take down this barrier, not threatened him into doing it because he might be good." I said as I stand in front of Kol. "Me and Kol will take this barrier down. So, until then I would start suggesting where you will be sleeping tonight if you give him that tone again. He is your brother." I said to Klaus.
We stare at each other for a while before he leaves.
~~~
Me and Kol walked towards the entrance of the Compound so we can meet up with Davina. She walks up to the barrier and was about to touch when Kol stopped her. "Careful, careful. It's nasty. Pretty girl to the rescue, eh?"
Davina smiles up at him making Kol smile as well. I start to smirk at these two. "Adorable." I said making them look at me and I now realize they forgot I was here. "Ready, little witch?" I said to Davina and she nodded her head.
The three of us hovered our hands on both side of the barrier and closed our eyes as we start to chant. All of a sudden we back away from the barrier and held our hands in the air like they were burnt.
"What just happened?" Davina asked out loud. Then she looked at me for an answer.
"I assume that means we're all free to go." Klaus asked us as he walked over here.
"Nope. The spell locked us out. Finn is channeling something to stop us from breaking it." I said.
"A dark object, maybe." Davina suggested making me nod my head but no object could have kept me out.
~~~
"Things are getting testy out there. Come on, we better move this along." Marcel said as me, him, Klaus, and Kol stand in a dining room filled with boxes in the corner.
"Vincent's boundary is too strong. But what Davina, Phoenix, and I can do is cast a disruption spell. It would temporarily neutralize all magic objects in this Compound including the Compound itself. If it works. Then it will give us 60 seconds to escape whilst the boundary is shut down." Kol explained.
"All right, that sounds good to me." Marcel said.
"If the spell works it will suppress magical objects in the vincinity. Means your rings." Klaus said.
"If we go out without our rings, we're dead." Marcel said a bit disappointed.
"Unless you wait till nightfall." Klaus said.
"They're all so new. They're not gonna be able to fight the hunger. We can't wait till nightfall. We're gonna have a bloodbath on our hands before we even get close." Marcel said as he stares at all the newbie vamps then he turned back around to face us as he said the last sentence.
"I can help in that department. I can chant a spell that temporarily decreases a vampires hunger while we wait till nightfall." I said.
"Are you sure you can do that for so long and help them with the spell?" Klaus asked me.
I nodded my head at him fully determined. "I got this."
~~~
I was standing in the middle of the Compound chanting while Kol and Davina get the spell ready when I hear commotion going on around me. I was in complete concentration because there was a lot of vampires in here that I need to control. They should barely feel hungry anymore but since they're new, they'll drink blood whenever they can.
It wasn't long before I smelt blood and I turned my head to my left to see Aiden on the ground with a big cut on his forearm. I stop my chant to heal his arm.
"Davina, start the spell." Marcel told her and she quickly hurried things up.
~~~
We are back at the entrance of the Compound and we are chanting the spell when a gust of wind came by and blew out the candles and the salt on the floor.
Davina held her palm out to touch the barrier. "Davina!" Kol yelled out and put his on hand up to stop her from getting hurt, but he calmed down when their hands touch each other.
"Okay. Jack, now." Hayley said.
"Come on, let's go." Jackson said as he guides all the werewolves out the Compound.
"Remember, 60 seconds." Kol said as all the werewolves leave.
I hear someone whoosh up behind me. "Slight change of plans, brother." Klaus said as he puts his hand on his shoulder. Klaus throws Kol back inside the Compound. "I no longer have to treat you like anything but the treacherous liar you truly are."
I rush over to help Kol. "What the bloody hell?" He exclaimed. I chant a healing spell to get rid of the cut on his forehead but I can't do anything about the blood the leaked out.
"Where is she?" Klaus asked him.
"Please, they'll kill him." Davina begged Klaus.
"Well, he should've thought about that before he betrayed our sister. Rebekah never made it to her new body, did she? Seeing as how you cast the spell and, well, you're you I'd hardly call it an uncrackable case." Klaus said.
"Rebekah'a fine, Nik. It was a prank. Nothing more than what you lot have done to me. But I guess it's different when it's one—Ahh!" Kol ranted as he walks up to Klaus but he got to close and his hand burned.
"Barriers back up." Klaus said as he and Davina stand on the other side. "And those vampires look, oh, so hungry. I was willing to welcome you back into my home but you had to return to your selfish petty jealousies. Well, let's see how well they help you survive when you're stuck in there." Klaus yelled at him then he too left the Compound.
Did that hybrid bastard really just not only leave me but our kids here? Kol started to get scared but I held onto his hand and start to chant. A gust of wind flew by and I immediately push him past the barrier.
Kol looks back at me shocked that I would do that for him. "I don't care what Niklaus said. You were always part of the family and he would do the same if he was put in your position. I'll be fine on my own." I said to him.
Kol didn't believe me. Nor did Davina. They hesitated to leave me here but I forced them out the Compound before they even think about coming in.
I turn back around to see all the vampires staring at me hungrily. I chant a aneurysm spell and quickly made my way up to my kids room. Then I spelled the door so if they try to open it, it will burn them.
Once a prosperous and well-to-do city, Oar's Crest has fallen into depression and disrepair. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!
Legendary Farmer (available on Kindle July 2022!)
NOTE: Legendary Farmer is now COMPLETE. The first book, Clearing, was released on Kindle Unlimited July 5, 2022 with significant edits. I will post the first chapter of Clearing, as well as three chapters of Cuckoo's Dream, another novel in the LF universe, as a stub, with a link to the first book, so if you love LF and want me to be able to keep writing consistently, please go give Clearing five stars! In the VRMMORPG, Veritas Online, things are getting a little stale. Since the game launched, only one world- wide event has occurred, and that was a year ago.. The players are still having fun, but everyone agrees it’s about time for something big to happen. Everybody tends to forget that big things grow from small things, and little things are always changing in Veritas.The human country of Quarternell is at peace for the first time in... ever. Aspen, a former war hero, feels like he’s earned a quiet life together with his animal companions. They’re tired of fighting, and other people in general. They plan to live peacefully, far away from the city. As soon as Aspen figures out this farming thing out, he’s never going to go anywhere again. Unfortunately for Aspen, his country and his goddess aren’t quite done with him yet.Rouge the Rogue is a casual gamer in Veritas Online. She’s just a kid, and her focus is supposed to be on school and hanging out with friends. Emphasis on ‘supposed to’. She’s already pretty good at the school thing, and she doesn’t actually have that many friends. What she really loves is exploring all the cool ways the developers of Veritas found to make their game unique and realistic. Then she’s offered a very special quest, and an opportunity to go beyond the average player. She’s never been that much of a rule follower anyway....Clearing is appropriate for most ages. It has minimal foul language, no sex, and some violence. It is LGBTQ+ friendly. (P.S. IMPORTANT! This book contains very mild profanity, no sex, and is meant to be FUN. Yes, the characters sometimes think Deep Thoughts, and idealism pretty much runs rampant, but, in the end, I hope you just enjoy reading it. Laugh, cry, share it with your kids, read it to your dog, whatever makes you happy. My goal is for it to be accessible to everyone from ages 12ish on up, so you could definitely consider it YA, but with lots of big words because I don't believe in talking down to my readers.) Book Two: Harrowing (Starts after the original Chapter Fifty, now Sixteen, since I condensed chapters from the same perspective together.) Zoey has started her summer internship at Veritas Corporation, and she can honestly say that being an adult is boring. Until she starts learning secrets she was never supposed to know. In game, Rouge is finally making progress on her big quest. Apparently Duke Penbrooke took too long to return to the world, so the world is coming to get him... in the form of a few assassins. Aspen is going to have to face the life he left behind, and deal with the fact that it's not as easy being 'dead' as he thought. When what he'd hoped would be a short trip back to civilization to resupply turns into a whole lot more, he'll have to fight for his life, his friends, and his kingdom. Book Three: Sowing Rouge and Aspen have reached Bright, only to find that their enemies were already expecting them. They will have to quickly unravel the mysteries of who their opponents actually are, because they're already ten steps behind. Rouge and Aspen are finally home, but that doesn't mean they can return to their peaceful days of farming. Their enemies are hot on their heels and determined to destroy everything they've managed to achieve. Join them and all their friends for the final volume of Legendary Farmer.
