《Home | The Originals》Chapter 71: Tristan De Martel
Advertisement
Today was Halloween and this year I will be not following my traditions. Last year it was just Angel and I and I was able to put her to sleep and leave out to go terrorize people.
I also got this black card I found in Angel's crib today. I was invited to this party that was hosted by some guy named Tristan De Martel. Don't know who the bloody hell he is but I just might go.
I laid across a couch with my phone up in the air playing subway surfers while Freya do her yoga. From the corner of my eye I see Nik walking but stop when he sees Freya is doing yoga. "What are you doing here?" He asked her as he walks over to me.
Nik snatched my phone out my hands and put it in the inside of his jacket pocket. I look at him upset before I got up from the couch. There goes my high score.
"I live here." Freya said then she got up from the mat.
"Yes, obviously. I just haven't realized you were back from wherever it is you go to when you leave. Perhaps I was thrown off by the lack of strange gentlemen callers perusing the contents of my refrigerator this morning." Nik said making Freya smile as she performs the warrior pose.
"Your concern for my whereabouts is touching." Freya said and I can her sarcasm.
"I simply want to know who is here at any given moment. I hardly think that's too much to ask." Nik said.
I hear two pair of footsteps and I see Hayley walking into the room we are in with Elijah not to far behind. "Well, as long as we're taking attendance." Hayley said as she walks in.
"Oh. Good. It's my not-so-loving elder brother and my former one-night stand. What a nice, normal family gathering." Nik said.
"If only Rebekah was here, and Kol can come back from the dead, and Finn's goal to see his family suffer is gone from his demented mind for him to finally be free from the necklace that traps him. Would be one hell of a family reunion." I said.
"Elijah was just catching me up on how you have no clue which one of your long lost buddies you can trust and which one is trying to kill you." Hayley said.
"Well, clearly what the situation needs is more opinions. I assume you told her about the bloody prophecy?" Nik said looking at his brother for his question.
Hayley looked over her shoulder to look at Elijah. "I was just getting to that." Elijah said. I would have to remember this moment. This is the day when I see Elijah wearing normal people clothes and not just suits.
"Now would be good." Hayley said as she basically asked Nik to explain what has been going on.
I see Paula enter the room and stand out in the open but no one but me notice her. "Well, it appears my old mate Lucien has acquired a genuine seer, and in an effort to prove his good intentions, he got her to show us some rather dire visions of future doom. It's grim stuff, really. Not for the faint of heart." Klaus said.
"Whose doom are we talking about? Because if it's yours, then I think we're all okay with that." Hayley asked him.
"I would be deeply saddened." I said raising my hand up in the air.
"Well, sadly, we're all on the chopping block. But chin up. This witch claims her visions are constantly evolving. So, you may just get your wish." Nik said walking towards Hayley and whispered the last sentence close for her to hear.

"Well, I wanna meet this psychic witch." Hayley looked over her shoulder to look at Elijah. "Tonight."
A floor board creaking is being heard and we all looked at Paula but only me and Nik knew who she was.
Hayley was the first to react and shove Paula up against a wall by her neck. "Who the hell are you?" Hayley asked her.
Paula pulled Hayley's hand off her and pushed her back harshly, Hayley fell into Elijah who helped balanced her so she wouldn't fall.
"Right, sorry. Everyone this is Paula my first vampire I turned. She and every other vampire that she turned is here to protect me from this "war" that is happening. You won't even know that she is here." I said and everyone looked calm. For the most part that is.
~This was the dress I was going to wear to prom. But since the COVID-19 outbreak, I failed to experience my last year of high school~
I walked into the party to see a group of women in revealing lingerie performing a dance for the audience around them. Hayley and Elijah are here somewhere too and apparently every vampire here is apart of Elijah's sireline.
I finally spot Elijah and Hayley in the crowd and walked up to them as waitresses with a full white mask walk in carrying trays that held two glasses of champagne.
"Didn't know you were invited here as well." I said making Hayley and Elijah turn around to face me. I look at her dress which is also red but she had a black mask that she was holding to her side. "People will mistake us as siblings with the way we're matching."
"What are you doing here? And where is your little lap dog?" Hayley asked me as we watched the waitresses click the glass champagne.
"I got a special invitation from Tristan himself and as for Paula or my lap dog,as you like to call her, she is hiding in the shadows somewhere around here." I said.
A man walked through the door with a few people behind him. "Distinguished friends. Welcome. It's so rare that we are able to come together like this. To revel, for one night, in the company of true equals." The dark haired brunette man held his glass up before putting it back down. "Now, I'd like to take a moment to welcome a very special guest, Mr. Marcel Gerard." He pointed all five fingers towards said man and everyone clapped for him.
"I'm honored." Marcel said.
"Of course, before we tell Marcel all of our secrets, there's one small piece of business to which we must first attend. We must determine his worth." The brunette said.
I leaned my head towards Elijah. "Am I right to assume that this man is Tristan de Martel?" I asked him and he nodded his head.
"That's funny. I seem to recall you being the one knocking on my door." Marcel said walking half the closer to Tristan.
Tristan took a few steps towards Marcel. "You'll notice, Mr. Gerard, that over the course of the evening, someone has managed to take something quite dear to you. Your daylight ring." I looked at Marcel's fingers and true to Tristan words his daylight ring was gone.
"What the hell is going on?" Hayley asked Elijah and he grabbed both of our biceps protectively in case something dangerous might happen.
"The test is quite simple. First you need to reduce the identity of the thief. Then, you are simply to take back what is yours." Tristan said. Marcel looked around at everyone that he had met during the party. "Although, I doubt the prize will be easily relinquished. After all, despite our refinement, we're still a rather violent bunch. In victory, you become one of us. In failure, you met your death. You have a few hours until dawn. I wish you the best of luck." Marcel looked at his surrounding before going out to find his ring.

I went to the bar after everyone dispersed themselves. I look to my right to see Tristan leaning against the bar table next to me. I took a sip of my champagne. "So, how is Marcel suppose to take down an ancient vampire?" I asked him.
"With guile, courage, perhaps a bit of trickery. Admittedly, it's a long shot. But then, sometimes the new candidates surprises us. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tristan de Martel. And you must be the famous Phoenix Fire. Vampire-witch hybrid." Tristan grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it but I quickly pull away. "Pleasure's all mine, I see."
"Flattery will get you no where with me." I said.
"Would you ever be so kind to grace me with a dance?" Tristan asked me holding a hand out for me to take but I just stare at it. "Please?" I sigh and softly took his hand in mine and he pulled me with him to the dance floor. I swallowed the rest of my drink and put it on a tray that was going past me.
We got to the dance floor and we danced together with our hands in their rightful places and respected boundaries.
"I am glad that you are here. When one refer to the Mikaelson's they are also talking about you as well." Tristan said as he twirls me around then pulls me back into his arms.
"Why did you invite me here? I don't plan to or ever want to join you and the Strix. I have my own sireline that will protect me if I want it or not." I asked Tristan.
"Oh, I'm not asking you to join the Strix. No, all I want is for you to be our very helpful witch friend." Tristan said.
"What makes you think I will help you?" I asked.
"We only want to keep peace here and protect our sire. Trust me, no harm will ever come your way." Tristan said looking deep into my eyes.
"I'll think about it." I said with a smile. I rather play soccer with your head if your hand keeps gliding down towards my ass anymore than it is now. The day I'll agree to this is the day America runs out of money.
Tristan twirls me around again and pulled me extremely close to his face were we kept eye contact. We stared each other down before howling could be heard in another room distracting me and Tristan from our stare down.
"Greetings!" The voice of Lucien can be heard. Giggling of girls can be beards getting closer and closer to the point they were in the same room me and Tristan were in.
"I'm ready for my medication." I hear Nik's voice and I look through the crowd to see him and Lucien surrounded by girls in costume. Freya who failed to disguise herself from me at least is among them.
"My god. It's a room full of Elijahs." Lucien said looking at the crowd. He had an arm wrapped around Freya who is wearing a purple wig and a bunny mask.
"I had that exact same nightmare once." Nik said his face moving close to a girl's face. Too close for my liking. "Go on, and grab us a drink, love. Feel free to fetch one for yourself." He told Freya and she went off somewhere.
"Tristan! Tristan! Come out, come out, wherever you are." Lucien yelled out and said man put his head down in embarrassment.
"Unless, of course, you're afraid." Nik taunted
"Please excuse me. I'm sorry." Tristan whispered to me then walked over the Nik and Lucien.
I too followed after him but I hidden myself in plain sight so no one can see me. "You should uh, move along. You're not welcome here." Tristan said.
"Oh. Oh. Okay, we're... we're not welcomed here." Nik whispered then he laughs as he grabs a glass of champagne. "Or maybe you should move along before I make you cry in front of all your little friends." Nik walked past him.
"My concern is for your companions. They appear out of sorts without a shiny pole to writhe upon." Tristan said insultingly.
"Oh! He is suggesting that you're exotic dancers which to him is an insult. If not somewhat hypocritical. But don't take it personally, love. He finds all work demeaning." Lucien said to a woman who is hanging from a hula hoop wearing a corset. He walked up to Tristan. "The only dignified way to accumulate wealth is by birth." He touched Tristan's nose. "Boop." Nik laughed at Lucien's actions. "Isn't that right Tristan, hmm?" He patted him on his shoulder.
"Niklaus." Elijah called out as he walks to wear his brother is.
"What is it?" Nik asked facing away from where Elijah had called out to him. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion before turning back around to see the crowd part for Elijah to walk through.
"You're hammered. Which should come as very little surprise to anyone here. But it does hamper the festivities somewhat. So, could I recommend that you find the nearest exit? If you stay here any longer you'll be making someone very mad." Elijah asked of his brother quietly.
My hybrid face was already out as I was extremely pissed it won't go away until I calm myself down. Klaus walked around before turning back to look at Elijah and Tristan. "You know, I used to find it insulting that I was barred from your special little club. But now I realize I lacked the flexibility to become a member. I could never get my head far enough up my own ass." Klaus bowed and Lucien laughed at his joke.
Tristan held up a glass of champagne for Klaus and he took it and swallowed it all down. He looked at Tristan. "Cheap." He walked back over to Lucien and wrapped an arm around a girl wearing a revealing nurse costume. He looked back around the crowd before he stopped and stared straight at my angered face.
This encourages Elijah to see what Klaus is staring at and he saw my black eyes and my veins underneath them out for anyone to see.
"Uh, oh." Klaus whispered before he vamps off.
~I have no clue what the hell she is talking about in this next scene but whatever~
We were back at the Compound with Lucien and a sobbing Alexis. "I'm sorry. I hoped I was wrong, Lucien. I really did. But I saw it. I saw him die" Alexis apologized.
I was standing behind Nik's chair as he tightly holds onto my hand. He spent the rest of the night up until now to apologize and smother me with kisses. I'm a bit upset still but he worked his way into making me forgiving.
"Did you see the weapon?" Lucien asked her and she nodded her head. "What is it?"
"To understand, it must be seen." Alexis said then she held her arm out towards me. Why does she want me to see the vision? I shrugged my shoulders and walked over to the couch so I can sit.
Elijah put his hand on Luciens shoulder and he got up so Elijah can sit in his place and take Alexis other arm.
My hybrid face came out as I quickly bite into Alexis arm. I'm getting images of a spell, a painting of Rebekah and another person with the same blood spatter going across it. The spell that Freya performed to confirm the prophecy shows up then a silhouette of a man. I started to taste death in her blood and I immediately pull away and vomit the blood out of my system.
"What is that?" I coughed out as Nik came to my aid.
"It's poison." Elijah said.
Blood start to leak out of Alexis mouth as she tries to spit out as much as she could. Lucien went to comfort her as she coughs. "No, no, no. No! No!" Lucien repeated as Alexis slowly fall down into his lap, quickly dying.

The Blood Queen
The rain fell from the sky with ferocity and smashed into the pavement filling the air with the sound of a stampede. The noise was deafening as I struggled to stand up. The blood from my wound was covering the ground beneath me and I covered it with my hand as I pushed off the pavement. On my feet now I struggled to step towards the grass. Through the howling wind and pounding raindrops I could hear what sounded like a chant, calling me and drawing me towards the cliffs edge. "Vienna, my Queen, my blood Queen" I started to move my feet faster until I could run towards the edge. Only when I was at the edge did I turn and look back one last time at the castle behind me. I could see him standing on the balcony, he was screaming my name. I could just hear it over the rain. I unclipped my red cape and whispered goodbye to him. As he jumped off the balcony to run towards me I leaned backwards and let my body fall with the rushing water to the river far down below. I carried her whispers with me to the dark edge until they vanished.
