《Home | The Originals》Chapter 73: My Fiance

I was outside the Compound when I ran into Freya. "Hi, Freya. Coming back after another night with your one night stand?" I asked her.
Freya playfully shoved my shoulder as we both laugh. "No. I just had a chat with Rebekah and she tells me that she had found a witch that can bring Kol back to life." She said.
My face fell. "Well, that will be impossible." I might have to come clean and tell the family the truth about Kol.
"Why is that?" Freya asked me as she furrows her eyebrows together.
I let out a sigh. "I'm not suppose to tell anyone this. Kol is still alive and is in his own body again."
Freya looks at me shocked. "Are you serious?" She asked me and I nodded my head. "Well why didn't you tell anyone?"
"We agreed that he wouldn't be safe if he had stayed. If Finn found out he would be really mad and most likely try to curse Kol again but we didn't know you would trap him inside a necklace." I explained.
Freya didn't say anything so I continued. "Kol's secrecy of still being alive is for his safety, you must understand why I kept it a secret and now you have to as well just until things are safe here in the city again." I pleaded.
"Fine. Let's go inside. It's getting chilly out here." Freya said making let out a sigh of relief.
We walked in the Compound but stopped when we saw the place. It's trashed. Looks like a fight broke out. I walked around the place looking at all the turnover chairs and tables.
I looked at Freya confused and frozen in place when I here something creek. I look behind me into the dining room, to see Nik and Elijah sitting at the table quietly.
We stormed in the room. Elijah's sleeve were ripped off and he had blood in his arms and neck. Nik had a big hole in his sleeve and blood on his neck as he lets his blood pour in a glass cup.
"What the hell happened here?" I asked them.
"We had a little chat about the past." Nik said calmly.
"I politely informed Niklaus that I'm not his enemy. And though they entered the city under the guise of peace, Tristan and Lucien, in truth, are allied against us, a fact that required little bit of gentle persuasion." Elijah said.

"And so I reminded our brother who angered them in the first place." Nik said.
"And after all of this civil discourse, what understanding did you come to?" Freya asked them as we sat on the opposite side of the table.
"That we expose and destroy our first-sired." Elijah answered.
"Couldn't agree with you more." Nik said and slide the glass full of his blood over to Elijah. He and Elijah held up their glass in the air. "You see, gentlemen know when it's time to call a truce and turn our fury in a more pertinent direction." Nik clinked his glass with Elijah's.
"Well, until then, you guys should clean up and replace all the broken furniture out there. I'm not gonna live in a pig sty." I said and got up from my chair and left them all in the room.
~~~
It's morning now and I walked into the room with all the kids to see Nik sitting on the floor playing with Henrik, Maddox, Eric, and Nicholas. Dove, Hunter, and Angel were playing with their toys before they came walking over to me when I sat down.
I pulled Hunter and Dove into my lap as Angel leans against me bouncing on her legs and playing with my hair again.
I watch Nik as he gently toss Maddox in the air and catching him on his way down. Nik set Maddox on the floor and put Henrik on his lap. "I met Aurora yesterday." He said as he plays with Henrik's hands.
"Who's Aurora?" I asked as Hunter was reaching out for my chest.
"Tristan's sister. She was also my first love." Nik said as he looks at me.
"Do you still love her?" I asked with a hint of sadness in my voice. I'm not sure I can go up against a first love. I still think of mine every now and then but I have moved on when he died to the plague.
"Was, Nix. I don't love her no more. My heart is for you and only you. I would spend another thousand years proving that to you." Nik said and this really warms my dead heart.
I move Hunter and Dove out of my lap so I can crawl over to Nik. I grab his face and pulled him into a gentle kiss. Not long after that I see Nicholas pushing Nik away from me and he is now trying to give me kisses on my lips making me and Nik laugh.
"Looks like someone is trying to take your spot." I said once Nicholas pulled away.
Nik grabbed Nicholas and held him up so they can stare at each other eye to eye. "Mother is mine, you hear me?" Nik said playfully and Nicholas just shakes his head. Nik tossed him up in the air before setting him down on the floor again.
"Anything else you want to tell me?" I asked as I feed Hunter because he keeps poking at my breast.
"Elijah had compelled Lucien to believe he was me, Aurora to believe she was Rebekah, and Tristan, Elijah, after he sired him. Then Elijah compelled them to run." Nik said as he rolls Eric around on the floor making him giggle.
"So they became bait for your father."
"Father was hunting us mercilessly during the 11th century but compulsion broke the second my siblings got daggered." Nik explained.
"I'm actually quite impress." I said with a small smile.
"I got you gifts." Nik said as he pulls out this black case.
The necklace was beautiful and I couldn't bring myself to look away. "I had this made during our time apart and no timing is better than right now." Nik said.
"It's beautiful." I said. I turned the necklace over and saw NM written in the gold. He wrote his initials.
"Here." Nik held his hand out for the necklace and I gave it to him. He moved my hair out the way and put the necklace around my neck letting it rest above my heart.
"You didn't have to do this for me." I said as I rub my new necklace.
"I wanted to, love. Just like how I want to do this." Angel wobbled over to me with a small black box in her hands. I took it out her grasp and looked at Nik concerned but he just smiles at me and put Angel in his lap.
I opened the box and I immediately gasp.
It's a engagement ring. Nik took the box out my hands. "Even though we haven't been together for long, I can see myself being with you for eternity. You are the first person to not judge me so harshly after hearing all the things I did in my past, you are the first person to not treat me like I really am a monster, you are the first person who is not afraid to put me in my place, you are the first person to still love me even after everything I have done. I want to live out the rest of our immortal together, always and forever."
I was full blown crying right now. This has been the most beautiful engagement I have ever heard. I was trying to wipe my face of tears but they kept falling down my face.
Nik face grew worried as he stares at me. "I understand if you say no."
"What the hell? I'm not going to say no. Give me the ring so we can be engaged." I demanded and he slips the ring on my finger. I looked in the inside of the ring and saw the words Always and Forever written on it before it got placed on my right ring finger.
"I love you." I said as I brought Nik into a hug.
"Not as much as I love you." Nik said as he pulls away and bring me into a kiss.
I didn't feel one pair of hands, I felt all seven. All my kids had pushed Nik away from me. Maddox, Eric, Nicholas, Hunter, and Henrik showered me with their mouthy kiss while Angel and Dove do the same with Nik. "I think the boys like me more than you." I laughed once they pulled away.
"That's fine. At least my daughters will be daddy's little girls." Nik said as Angel and Dove pull away from him. "I need to meet with Aurora. She knows what Tristan and Lucien are up to and is also trying to find Rebekah. I need to figure out those two plans and stop her from finding Rebekah. Love you." Nik said and he pecked me on the lip before leaving.
[This fiction is on indefinite hiatus. I'm currently acting as a 24-hour caregiver for my step-father who had a massive heart attack. Sorry everyone!] Zhao Gang, after hundreds of thousands of years cultivating, has finally reached the penultimate threshold. He is ready to ascend to the level of True Immortal. Driven by the need for a place his enemies won't find him, Zhao Gang puts together an audacious plan. He has developed a revolutionary new formation which will allow him to ascend while on even the lowest planes. To avoid drawing attention, he has to choose a plane that is relatively desolate, however. He chooses Earth. Fast forward three thousand years. Zhao Gang discovers what his work has wrought - a cultivation-free culture that has delved the deep mysteries of creation - he can't help but think how this tiny little planet devoid of natural energy could affect the course of all creation. There's only one problem. For that to happen, he has to succeed in cultivating Earth. Notes: Chinese names should be ignored in the social context - they don't mean anything. Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
