《Home | The Originals》Chapter 79: Took a Bullet for You

I woke up in a dark and small place. I got jumped from behind and was stabbed through my heart with a wood stake. I start to hyperventilate as I place my hands on the walls. I see dirt at the bottom of my feet as I try break out of this confinement.
"Help!!" I scream out hoping someone could be around where I am.
"Phoenix!" I hear a muffled voice of Freya next to me.
"Freya? Freya where am I? Who did this?" I asked as I repeatedly bang against the lid but I keep making dirt fall in so I stop.
"It's Aurora. She have wooden bullets made out of white oak." Freya said.
"How did she even get the bloody wood? I took it from Camille and hid it." I asked her.
"You can blame Camille on this. She was going through our stuff and had eventually found it. But she didn't know that she was being followed the whole time." Freya answered. That little bitch. "They also also took one of your grimoires." She added. What the fuck does she want with my spells. Majority of the spells in my grimoires can only be casted by me.
I didn't hear Freya anymore. "Freya?" I yelled out but got no response. "Freya, please don't leave me!" I yelled but I still got nothing. I hear something above me like they are digging me out. The person hit my box letting them know they have reached me. They picked my box up and dropped me harshly on the ground.
The lid opens and I see Nik standing over me with Freya by his side. "Nik." I said lowly as I raise my hand out for him. He takes my hand and helps me out the box and hugs me tightly.
"Are you alright?" Nik asked he as he holds my face in his hands. I nodded my head and look around me to see I'm in some wood with a cabin in the distance. "Come on. Elijah is in the cabin looking for Aurora." He said and helped Freya who was struggling.
We made it to the Cabin and I see Aurora pointing a gun at Elijah. She pushed him to the door that we were at and gave herself distance so she could shoot us. "Stop this." Nik said as me and him carry a weak Freya.
"Why? One brother's life to end to another brother's torment? It's almost poetic." Aurora said as keeps switching targets between Elijah and Nik.
"The bullets. They're white oak, Niklaus." Elijah said not taking his eyes off of Aurora.
"We both know you're not going to pull the trigger." Nik said as he take steps closer to her.

"Yet again, you're wrong." Aurora said and pointed the gun towards him. I freaked out and did not think about my actions for a second. I see myself standing in front of Nik as the trigger went off. I look down my chest to see a bullet hole had went through my heart. Aurora immediately left after taking the shot.
I slowly turn around to look at Nik and Elijah. They both had a face full of fear and worry as they see that the the bullet went to my heart. I fell to the floor as feel myself slowly dying. Nik rushed to me and laid me on his lap. "No, no, no, no, no. You're not dying. You're not dying." Nik repeated as he rocks us back and forth.
The veins grew up my arms and over my face as I start to die. Klaus screams as Phoenix body turn completely gray.
(I'm not gonna end the chapter here. What kind of author would I be if I just end it. Would have got my ass flamed if I left it at that😜😜😜)
I gasp awake as air comes back inside my body making Nik, Elijah, and Freya look at me surprised. I sit up from Nik's lap as I try to process everything. White oak didn't kill me completely so my parents definitely tied my life to something else.
"How?" Nik whispered in shock.
"I think my parents didn't tie the white oak to my immortal life. There must be something else." I said. This makes me want to find out what can kill me but I want to keep it a secret so no one can find out. "Can we ask questions about my death later at the Compound and go find this bitch that just tried to kill me?" I ask as I rush to stand on my feet.
~~~
We were back at the Compound after failing to kill Aurora who still has the gun after shooting Elijah. Hayley came back to the Compound and told us that Aya and her witches tried to take her heart.
"The attack was about breaking the sire link. Marcel told me that Aya's witches already have a spell to do it." Hayley said.
"And how does your heart play into all of this?" Nik asked.
"Hayley is the only unsired vampire in history. It's one part of making the spell work." I said.
"Do you know anything about this spell, Nix?" Nik asked me.
"I'm the one who created the spell." I said as Elijah sits down on the couch in shock.
"Is there a way to stop it?" Elijah asks me.
"Yes, but it needs to stay between us and us only. Aya doesn't know or what any of her witches know is that most of all of my spells require me to do it. I'm the only one that can cast that kind of spell and if anyone tries to do it themselves, it will suck them dry of their magic and give it to me." I explained.
"Well, either way, I'm not an easy target. Aya would have to find a heart that is identical to mine." Hayley said then her face immediately fell once she realized what she had just said.
"Jackson." Elijah said.
"The unification ceremony didn't just marry us, it also made his heart a mirror image of mine." Hayley said.
"We need to dig it up." Nik said determined as he gets up from his chair.
"Klaus." Hayley warns him.
"Aurora's bullet k-killed Nix and nearly killed Elijah. When she returns, and she will, I would prefer the vampires of New Orleans be obligated to protect us. They'll be more likely to do so if our lives remain linked to theirs." Nik said then rushed out of the open area.
I rush after Nik up to our room. I see him pacing the room back and forth and he then throws a lamp at a wall.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked him making him stop his pacing and just hug me tightly as he did when he dug me out the ground.
I hugged him back as it seems he really needed this. "I thought I lost you." Nik whispered silently but I still heard it. I wrap my arms around his shoulder pulling our bodies even closer than it already is. "Don't leave here alone." He whispered and I felt something wet drop onto my shoulder.
"I'm sorry." I said with my voice cracking. I never meant to put him through such a traumatic situation.
~~~
We were at the park where Hayley had buried Jackson's heart but it was very clear that someone had dug his heart up and took it. They didn't even replant the bloody tree.
"Who would steal his heart?" Hayley asks rhetorically as she squats over the rugged up hole. Elijah stood next to me and Nik who kept at least one hand somewhere around my body to make sure he was always touching me and I did not mind at all given the day we all had.
"It was the only piece of Jackson that I had left." Hayley said then she lets a sigh escape her lips.
Elijah slowly walks up beside Hayley. "We'll find who did this." He whispered.
"And return the favor 10-fold." Nik promised.
~~~
I'm sitting in Nik's lap at a desk wrapped in a blanket listening to his heart beating softly. This has been the most relax position we have ever been in. Nik was carving out the same knight from before on top of me and I didn't really mind it since he would sometimes wipe the mess off of me.
"Practicing your torture techniques, Niklaus?" Freya asked sarcastically as she walks into the room and stand in front of us.
"They're in my mind." He said finishing up half of the knight piece. He sets it on the desk before he leans back in his chair. "Some children cuddle with a blanket, mine love their chess piece." I remember him giving the kids each of their own separate chess pieces. Wait a minute, did he just call me a child?
"Aren't you full of surprises." Freya said.
"You're surprised I came for you." Nik assumes and he knew he was right when she didn't answer him right away. He taps my leg telling me to get up and I did sitting on the desk as I moved the knight to a different place so I can have more room. Nik gets up from his chair to walk around the desk so he was standing face to face with Freya. He puts his hands on both of her shoulders. "You are my sister, Freya. And you are a part of this family. Always and Forever." He said and Freya smiles happily at him.
"You know, I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I wholeheartedly agree with Niklaus." Elijah said as he walks into the room and was already pouring a drink for me, Nik, and Freya.
"So, what's going to be our next move?" Freya asks as she turns around to watch Elijah pour us some drinks. "Aurora has more white oak, and she's not gonna stay quiet for long."
"I will take care of the Aurora problem. I have had enough of her antics and is tired of being on the end of the receiving stick. I will find her and give a good, painless death. Nix style." I said.
"Aurora's not the only problem." Elijah said as he hands out the drinks to me, Nik, and Freya then he quickly made himself one.
"Yes, it seems there's no shortage of those who would stand against our family. Let's kill them all." Nik said and we all clinked our glasses together then swallow our wine.
