《IMMORTAL LOVE | one》7 - Acqauinted

After breakfast, Zenos took Alana on a tour. Gigi and Fifi tagged along, practically glued onto Alana's side. She couldn't understand their fascination. She was never an interesting person to be around. Once people got past the attractive exterior and realised she was just as boring as the next person, they left her alone.
What's more, these fairie sprites weren't normal people. If she considered the ranks Zenos explained to her earlier about the six realms, Alana was practically inferior to them.
Why did they follow her as if they were ready to lay their lives down for her? This thought brought back an image of Kilan's disappearing form.
A shiver ran through her as she relived the moment of his death. Tears pricked her eyes and Alana felt completely at an impasse as to why was she mourning for his loss? They barely had been acquaintances let alone friends.
Might it be the Adrenalin kicking in during that time? The thought of death on all corners that could have created an attachment to Kilan. He had saved her twice. Maybe this was the reason why the thought of him almost brought her to tears. His sacrifice was unforgettable.
"Zenos?"
"Yes, Miss Alana."
Alana still couldn't get used to the formal way he addressed her.
I mean, who was the immortal one here?
"Have you ever heard of a fairie sprite named Kilan?" Alana asked.
"A fairie sprite name Kilan?" Zenos tested the name. "Hmmm...unfortunately the only fairie sprites I know are Gigi and Fifi, anyone else besides the boundary of Master's realm is stranger to me."
"Okay." Alana felt her hope depleting.
"Why do you ask?"
"He was with me in the cell the fire demon threw me in. He saved me. He sacrificed his life for me... and his body perished against the fire demon's flames."
"Ah." Zenos became somber. "That fire demon was notorious for terrorising the fairie realm. The fairie king wasn't happy about his invasions and used a seal to prevent him from ever entering the fairie realm again. He then escaped the demon realm through evil portals your mortals unknowingly open up. His goal was to get Master Lylas to notice him so he would defeat him. Little did he know, Master, is undefeated."
Alana nodded. "Is there no way of ever saving Kilan?"
"If he perished Miss Alana, then I'm afraid his essence is gone from existence."
Alana became even more solemn.
Zenos noticed her saddened expression. "If it helps, I can teach you how you can create an epitaph in his name to remember him by."
Alana quirked at this, nodding eagerly. Zenos then promised her later to teach her how to create this epitaph.
The tour was spectacular on Alana's part. That was because Lylas's place was really more of a palace with many houses sectioned off to create a kingdom of sort. To take this tour on foot would require more than one day to complete. There was also a convenient and thrilling way to achieve this and that was to ride along Zenos's green misty cloud.

When Alana first hopped on, she expected the cloud to be formless and to fall through it. She was surprised to find how sturdy that misty cloud was, as if she were in an invisible elevator. She felt weightless—as if she were flying—as Zenos guided through each and every house.
He explained that there were about twelve inhabitants in total that lived in Lylas' palace. These inhabitans included; Lylas, three of his trusted loyal soldiers, Zenos, his personal maid Mena, Gigi, Fifi, a chef and three housemaids.
"So little people in such a big place, how can three housemaids possibly manage to clean this place?" Alana commented in astonishment.
To answer her question Zenos had to show her exactly how. Alana was petrified initially at what she saw. She reminded herself, however, that it was nothing compared to the encounter with that fire demon.
It was a very strange; the fact that she was unfazed seeing such magic happening in front of her eyes. She questioned whether her dreams aided in this circumstance. However, knowing that the creatures she saw in her dreams were in fact real, was still a hard nut to crack.
It was such a wonder to watch the magic in front of her. The three housemaids, were in fact male goblins in their original form. According to Zenos, many millennia ago, these goblins sought refuge in Lylas' realm for protection.
"They were mistreated by the demon king in the demon realm. Goblins in the demon realm are discriminated against for their weakness, despite their canniest and wisest of minds. Master Lylas offered them a land up east to do as they wish, however, they refused the offer and told him they were more comfortable serving him. Master then offered them a place in his militia to train as soldiers, however, since they were really weak in strength they settled for house duties."
Alana had never heard of such thing. Cleaners whom voluntary preferred and chose their vocation. However, it shouldn't really come as surprise to her anymore considering the strange nature of events that has occurred to her recently. This weird curve ball she was unsure of.
These goblins in their four-feet original forms were dark purple in colour. They had huge elf-like ears protruding from their stark black hair. Their purple skin glowed when light bounced on it.
They were suspended three feet above the ground, their legs crossed in a meditative state. They looked peacefully oblivious to what was happening around them. However, Zenos explained to her that they were the ones making the brooms and mops clean the floors, the windows wipes themselves and dusters fly around dusting off air dust.
It was truly a bewildering scene.
In the kitchen house, eastward from the main house, Zenos introduced her to the chef whom cooked all the healthy meals with as little effort as those goblins.
"Everything he prepares is mastered in his mind and since his rank in immortality is almost as strong as Master's three soldiers, everything he makes is delicious."
The rest of the palace houses belonged to some of Lylas's official soldiers, generals and trusted men. The empty houses were for anyone whom also sought refuge in his realm.

Zenos then explained how his realm had many lands was far and wide. They were many other demons, goblins and a few ghouls whom sought refuge and made their homes in those empty lands. Every millennia Lylas would expand his realm if they were more land to be built.
Alana couldn't grasp it fully how it all worked, however as she listened, she truly felt how enduring and powerful this enigma of a man was. Alana found herself wondering about him yet again. Her mind wandering specifically on the story Zenos didn't want to divulge.
What was Lylas Fury's story? How did Karla come to known him? How did they meet? And how was her friend able to get so close to him?
Alana gave in to her desire to ask when she would see them.
Zenos shook his head to answer her, "Master doesn't like being disturbed, he has very little patience for those who get in his way. However, he still cares deeply for us mere beings. He barely tolerates having women around him. The only exceptions are Mena, his personal maid that sees to his very needs whenever he's home and for the mortal Karla his personal assistant in the mortal realm..."
Alana yet again suppressed the jealousy she felt for these women.
"...I must say, though, it came as a shock to us all when he brought Miss Karla to his realm three years ago. He never brought a woman before...let alone a mortal in his realm."
"How did they meet?" Alana dared ask. This curiosity nagging her to know.
"Ah." She heard Zenos sigh deeply and watched as his features became downcast. "It was a gloomy day, Master was furious at what those mortals did for weeks. His mood changed the seasons rapidly before settling back to summer... It was very fortunate he managed to save Miss Karla on time, although he couldn't save—" Zenos stopped hismelf sharply, realising his mistake.
"Save who? What happened?" Alana's heart was in her throat. What did those humans do to Karla? If she knew, it could explain a whole lot as to why Karla saw Lylas through tinted glasses filled with love.
What exactly happened three years ago?
Zenos shook his head. "I've said enough..."
"...Anyway, Master is at that place he created specifically to match Miss Karla's mortal foundation, so that it will be easy for her to heal if she was ever to be wounded like before... He took his soldiers with him. So you won't be able to meet everyone else until Miss Karla is well."
Alana sighed, disappointed. Yet again that unwelcome jealously wringing her. The feeling was bitter and didn't sit well with her. But Alana knew why she was feeling it. Karla was so special to Lylas he would even create a place for her in his realm to match her energy.
Alana knew she had no reason to be jealous. She didn't feel that strongly for him and really shouldn't feel for him in the first place. However, deep down—even though she tried to squash the feeling—Alana couldn't understand why she was already falling for Lylas. They barely spoke twice with one another. Barely held a proper conversation for her to truly know his character. And yet she couldn't stop herself...there was something about him that troubled her...something familiar and yet out of her reach.
"Gigi! Fifi!" A voice called out behind her. It's tones filled with taut sourness.
The little fairie sprites by her side startled before hiding behind her shoulder.
Alana was greeted by the sight of an elegantly dressed woman, with beautiful auburn copper coloured hair and amber sunset eyes.
"Don't you dare hide from me! I saw you both! How many times do I have to tell you not to leave without my permission! Yes, it's safe in Master's palace, but you cannot just wander off unannounced, one of these days you—" the copper coloured haired woman stopped speaking entirely as she caught the sight of Alana.
Her mouth was agape, the eyes full of disbelief, "M-Mistress?"
Alana looked to Zenos in enquiry. Zenos was equally confused as she was.
"Mena, what's wrong?" Zenos asked.
Ah so this is Lylas's personal maid who address his every need whenever he returns to his realm. Alana thought. Yet again plagued with unwanted jealous. Goodness gracious, was she to become jealous with every woman he was acquainted with? She needed to stop.
Nevertheless, Alana knew why she was jealous. This woman had history with him. She had known him for far longer than even Karla. In addition, she was probably an immortal and so that history was probably ten thousand times Alana would ever know him in her insignificant life.
"No, it can't be her." The woman rubbed her eyes as if to be sure. When she looked back at Alana, she was still affected.
"Please forgive me for being so rude..." the woman approached Alana. "....for a moment there I thought I saw someone I knew a long time ago...My name is Mena." Mena moved to shake Alana's hand.
"Alana." She smiled shaking her hand too.
A fragrance of coral petals enticed her nose and Alana instantly felt a calm enter her being.
"It's so lovely to meet you, Alana. I hope you enjoy your stay here and and if you are in need of any assistant, I'm always available to aid you in whatever you need." Mena smiled.
And that smile was so genuine and kind, Alana felt guilt for having felt a jealous hostility toward her earlier.
"Thank you." Alana smiled too, her smile brightening.
A painful expression showed on Mena's face and her smile became bittersweet.
"It's good we ran into you, Mena, I hate to impose but ...would you be able to escort Miss Alana to the lotus spring bath and show her around there?"
"I'll be delighted." Mena's smile brightned
Hearing this, Gigi and Fifi, rejoiced at this news. An extension of time with Alana somehow making them ecstatic. However, Mena quickly wrought the twin sprites away from Alana and bound them to her side with a spell.

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
