《IMMORTAL LOVE | one》32 - Ended

"Alana its time...you have to push now..." A soft voice lulled her out of her camotose pain.
Alana was delirious. She didn't know what had aided to this delirium, whether the excruciating pain or the magical sedatives they kept feeding her.
After passing out, she had woke up to find herself in Lylas's realm. Specifically that white healing room she was so acquainted with.
Initially, she had tried not to make any noise to bother the habitants beside her, however, the pain was like no other. She had became vocal the instant she was alert.
Lylas, Mena and Derak had been in the room with her, along with another woman whom she figured was a midwife.
Seeing her state of unrest, affected Lylas so much more than he had anticipated. He couldn't borne it. His agitative manner made Mena kick him out. Derak had also helped into pulling Lylas out of that room.
Lylas was not in the right state of mind after finding out the truth about Alana's true identity. Derak felt guilty for revealing it to him. Seeing how his friend was fairing with the news, he almost wished he never told him.
Mena aided the midwife during Alana's labour. The mortal wasn't doing well with the labour. Mena was prepared, however.
Ever since Lylas had informed her what would happen to Alana. Mena took the initiative to harvest every last ceren herb she'd grown. There were no longer any seeds and only her mistress knew how to grow these healing plants. Mena thought the price was worth it. Even if there would be no more ceren herbs in his realm after this. It was worth it to use all them for Alana.
Mena felt Alana deserved it for what she was doing for her mistress and master.
However, what Mena hadn't bargained was for the ceren herb to not sedate the pain Alana felt. After six days of hard continuous effort, Mena and the midwife finally realised the labour was beyond them.
They couldn't operate on her since her womb was special, the minute they would cut through it, it would harm both mother and child.
Alana would have to pull through since she was immune to all sedatives. Seeing her in such pain, wounded not just Mena but even the unsuspecting midwife. This experience would forever haunt that poor midwife.
However, even when the labour was unimaginable to them, Mena and the midwife respected how strong Alana was to bear with it.
They felt that mortal was the strongest out of all them as they would never be able to last this long with such pain. They could see it how it slowly drained the life out of her. And yet Alana held on fiercely.
She had kept repeating Luka's name, sometimes calling him Luka, sometimes calling him, "little bean". She pleaded with him to come sooner so she could see him. She pleaded with him to come out
healthy. Mena didn't even know if it was the delirium talking but she even heard how Alana pleaded to come out so she could apologise to him.
On the seven day, it was finally time for Alana to push. However, since the last six days Alana had been in and out of it, using all her energy to bear the pain. By the time she began to push, she lost her will.
She was persuaded and encouraged and so Alana took this encouragement to give it her all.
Although in every push, the child was slowly bearing into the world, Alana on the other hand, was slowly bearing toward the underworld.

Lylas couldn't bear it any longer. After seven days of hearing Alana's soul wrenching cries, he couldn't sit idle by just offering elixir after elixir that didn't even work on her. And so he burst into the healing room, instantly going over to Alana's side.
He held one of her hand, attempting to sooth her pain forcefully. It was no use, however.
Alana stared dazedly at his apologetic pain-filled expression. She attempted to smile at him but the urge to push for the very last time overruled her body. Alana used all her remaining strength to push her little bean out of her. And because this took all of her strength, her heart gave out instantly and her organs slowly began to shut down. Her soul felt like it was being forced out of her body.
The blinding pain clouded her vision with infinite stars. She couldn't make sense of what she was seeing. It was too bright and she felt as if her soul was being pulled toward an unimaginable force. This force was very strong and wouldn't let go of her.
Please not yet. Let me see him. Let me at least hear him cry.
However, since everything had been made easy for her. Since she had fulfilled her purpose in this life, the heavens would not let her hear her son cry as he took his first breath into the world. Alana would only leave that world, destined to only hear Lylas's apologetic voice that was filled with tears.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
That voice echoed with her in her journey to the afterlife. Even when Alana longed to hear her little bean's cries, to reassure her he was healthy and well. She rather settled with leaving the world hearing Lylas's voice instead.
Even when the words he spoke were not what she hoped to hear. His apology was still better than nothing.
"I love you. I love you so much..."
She spoke desperately to the white space that met her in death. Whether those words he could hear, she would never know. But at as long as she had breathed them out to existence, she hoped somehow, miraculously he would know how much he meant to her.

Everyone to witness would describe Luka Fury's entrance to the world as extraordinary. For a full week, the seasons in Lylas's realm had oddly gone from summer to winter, from winter to autumn, and from autumn to spring.
For seven days after Luka's birth, the realm was was plagued with this interchangeable, disordered seasons, until eventually on the eighth day it had finally settled to spring. The bloom of all living things.
That day was miraculous because many things had changed. One; was the realm's master's return from his death-like state. Two; was the moon Dessim finally blooming to a full moon for the first time since its creation, fifteen thousand years ago. Three; was all the flowers in Lylas's realm blossoming and changing into vibrant lively colours. And finally, four; was Luka's first cry to the world.
Eight days prior to this phenomenon, in the healing room where Luka entered the world. He lost his mother. Those there to witness the scene would also say he almost lost his father.
Although his entrance was dramatic, the child did not once cry. Mena had taken him to clean him and examine his health, leaving Lylas whom tried his all to revive the now deceased Alana in his arms.
Lylas did not speak, although his face was devoid of any emotion, deep inside one could see how tormented he was.

Derak had tried and failed to stop his friend from reviving what was now lost to the world, until he decided to leave him be.
Everyone left Lylas in the healing room and Lylas was glad to be left alone with her.
The child was celebrated by palace's residence and soon news of the realm's new heir reached every nook and corner. Every resident whether goblin, demon, fairie, or ghoul stopped their daily activities to celebrate.
As the days progressed, the child still had yet to cry. Mena was with him day and night, while his father was with his surrogate mother day and night.
"How long do we leave him there?" Mena had asked Derak after the third day. All of Lylas disciples had looked toward the heavenly realm's crowned prince for advise.
Derak had sighed. He knew Lylas would not let go of her no matter what he said. Then it suddenly clicked to him. Derak didn't know how he couldn't have thought of it sooner.
Of course if it made sense.
"I'll attempt again." Derak said staring at the newborn Luka in Mena's arms. The child with silver hair and golden skin and eyes.
Derak entered the healing room and found Lylas still attempting to revive Alana with his powers. Alana's body was encased in a golden glow and it took a while for Derak to realise what that glow was.
Lylas had used his whole heart to persevere Naala's immortal body for the past fifteen thousand years. This foolish man was now attempting to use his primordial soul to preserve Alana's body.
Derak quickly counteracted Lylas's spell before Lylas could wring his soul out of his body.
"Have you actually lost your mind!" Derak scolded him.
Lylas looked at Derak lifelessly, as if there no longer was any meaning to his existence. As if he no longer wished to live.
Lylas golden eyes had darkened and the shadowed circles under his eyes entailed his lack sleep for the past three days.
"Derak...release me. Let me persevere her body." Lylas asked desperately.
"Her body has already been persevered! You now want to use your soul to persevere this host of a ghost?" Derak couldn't believe it.
"She's gone...she's..." he trailed heartbreakingly.
"Have you actually lost some brain cells or has her death really taken your logical sense?"
"I lost her once, losing her twice. I can't—"
"She's not lost, you idiot. She's Naala isn't she?"
Lylas looked at Derak, not understanding.
"You silly man, you've been persevering her body for the last fifteen millennia. Don't you think her broken shadowed soul would now return to her original body?" He asked pointedly.
It took a while for Lylas to make sense of Derak's words. As it finally clicked, he wrought himself up instantly and was about to leave in golden smoke when Derak stopped him.
"Bury her first." Derak reminded him.
However, just as Lylas let go of Alana's body, it slowly disintegrated itself and disappeared into silver ashes. This disintegration was just like how anyone with immortal essence would disappear when they died.
The shock was mirrored on both of their faces and this time Lylas disappeared before Derak could say anything.
His journey was to the centre of the three realms, that world sitting right between all realms. The underworld. For anyone that was not borne from the underworld, to enter it, they would have to be dead. However, Lylas wasn't just anyone.
For the past fifteen thousand years he'd dented the underworld with his power, in this dent only he could pass through. No one else was capable. No one else even dared to use the dent. Even the lord of the underworld was unable.
"Your greatness has returned." Lylas was greeted by the lord of the underworld as he made entrance into the underworld.
"Has anything changed?" He asked impatiently, ever hating these useless greetings.
The lord of the underworld looked on to him confusedly. This was the third time in a row this year, that this high immortal returned to see that woman. Usually he would come once in every thirty years. The recent visits unsettled the lord of the underworld. Although the little sprites and nymphs of the underworld rejoiced in Lylas's return.
"Nothing has changed your greatness." Lord of the underworld bowed to Lylas.
Then he suddenly saw the changed appearance in this high immortal and wondered what had happened to make him appear so haggard.
Lylas didn't dwell in this mere god's presence for more than ten second before transporting himself to that place.
As he landed at the usual spot. He once again used his magic to he clear the fog and reveal the mirrored glass cube. He entered this cube easily because its powers surrounding it were his.
Lylas had no time to rest as he quickly went to the bed situated in the middle.
She still lay in the same posture as she did for the last fifteen thousand years. Still had the same neutral expression. Eyes closed, nose tip high, lips dark red.
Lylas took her hand in his and read her pulse. Nothing had changed. Her pulse and vitals were still steady. Nothing was amiss.
However, as he checked her soul by touching her forehead, he suddenly saw a difference.
Her soul was complete. The brightened silver almost blinding compared to the dimness of it before. Lylas felt his heart quickening in anticipation. Her soul was completely whole again. He breathed a shuddered breathe and his hands trembled as he let go of her forehead.
He looked on earnestly toward her face, two tears falling into the their joined hands. A small smile cracked through his inexpressible face.
"You're whole again...why don't you wake up?" He asked.
"Please wake up. I promise, I'll tell you all about it. I'll tell you how much I love you. How much I've missed you. How much I wish...regret...hope..."
He released a shuddering breath, pressing his lips together as further tears stained their joined hands. He closed his eyes and rested his head in both hands that held hers.
As he closed his eyes, Alana's face seemed to merging to Naala's face in his mind.
Lylas suddenly realised what he'd been trying not see for the past year since meeting her. The similarities. Although he'd felt them. He'd tried so hard to ignore them, because he didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to hope. To hope again was to betray her. He had not wanted to be moved by someone else that wasn't her.
And yet, no matter how much he fought, she ended up sipping under his skin and laying rest in his veins. She ended up pulsing through his blood stream and wrecking his world upside down again.
Naala was a force not to reckoned with. He'd always known this. From the beginning, he was always destined to fall in love with her, no matter what form.
He ended up falling in love with her again. But he'd been too blind to see it was her all along. Surely the heavens had played a great trick on them. A terrible tragedy in its form.
In the past, when circumstances between them had been different, she had came into his life like force that took everything in him including his heart. He ended up willingly giving her his heart because he couldn't help it.
He would give her his soul if he had to. She was everything to him, losing her again. He suddenly realised how foolish he'd been.
That woman, she had rooted herself into his bones. Fifteen thousand years ago when she left, a piece of him had broke. This time after she left again, his bones became brittle. He was bound by her. Body and soul. He will forever be bound by her.
But their fate was cruel, their relationship could almost be called ill-fated. There would always be forces breaking them apart.
Even when he ended up loving her again. In the end, she ended up dying not knowing his heart. Again.

"One day you won't get enough of me. You'll love me so much you'll beg me to marry you."
"Is this some wishful fulfilling prophecy of yours?" He asked, the small smirk on his face telling her that he was teasing her.
"They do say I am tenacious when I want something. So I'm letting you know now that I want you Lylas. Don't you want me?" She asked innocently.
He lost his smirk instantly. It was those innocent eyes that would haunt him for life. She was brazen, he always knew how brazen and shameless she really could be. But that innocent always took her brazenness to another level.
Lylas Fury didn't know when he initially fell for the faerie kingdom's beloved princess, whether it was the first time he met her or years after she returned from her sabbatical?
