《Sure Thing, Commander ✔︎》8

Just before the platform closed Rex heard a faint cry of pain as Ahsoka realized what had happened. His heart felt like it was torn in two, and he tried to push the empty, hollow feel down. He heard her cry his name, making him feel even worse. He was relieved that he was taken instead of her. He never wanted any harm to come to Ahsoka. Not now, not ever.
"Did you hear something?" Dogma asked a trooper.
Rex held his breath as the clone slowly shook his head. He let out a small sigh of relief and stared at the ground. He had no idea where they were taking him. Nor what would happen to him when he got there. All he knew was that Ahsoka was safe for now. That's all that mattered.
"Why'd you do it Rex?" Dogma barked, "Why did you betray your brothers?"
Rex lunged at Dogma but the clones had a tight grip on him. They yanked him backwards and pressed a blaster to his head, threateningly.
"I didn't betray anyone!" he snarled.
"Then why did you help Tano?" Dogma asked, "Huh?"
Dogma grabbed Rex's face and forced him to look him in the eye. Rex wanted to tear him to shreds. If he could Dogma would be on the ground whimpering in pain at the moment.
"She showed me what we were programmed to do was wrong!" Rex yelled, "Order 66 was the empire's idea. Look at where it has brought us!" "To death and destruction!"
"It has brought us closer to peace!" Dogma growled, "You wouldn't understand"
"Your right!" Rex shouted, "I don't understand how killing innocent Jedi is going to bring peace"
"They are not innocent!" Dogma cried, "They have betrayed the republic! They are treasonous!"
"You are the real ones committing treason!" Rex yelled, glaring at Dogma.
Dogma roared in anger. He brought a hand up and backhanded Rex across the face. Rex felt an eruption of stinging pain and gritted his teeth. He wondered how one single program in the clones could tear a galaxy apart. By turning the Republic's army against them, the war was coming to an end. Only not in the way Rex had hoped.
"Watch your mouth" Dogma snarled, waving a finger in Rex's face.
Ahsoka crumbled to her knees and let out a pitiful cry. She put her face in her hands and sobbed. It was all her fault. How could she let them just take him? Was she ever going to see him again? If only she just stayed at the ship. Then they could have escaped before they were captured. Ahsoka wanted to believe that. But she knew the truth. If she would have stayed they both would have been captured and killed, executed.

"Rex..." she blubbered, "No..."
Ahsoka broke down the wind whipping her face, and playing with her lekku. All she could think about was the last look Rex gave her before he was taken. When she went into the storm. One of heartbreak, and worry. She licked her lips, tasting the salty tears. They were going to kill him. But Ahsoka knew they would keep him alive until they found her. After all, he was the only one that knew where she was. Ahsoka clasped a hand around her mouth and bawled softly. She knew he wouldn't tell them where she was. Not even if they beat him. That's what worried her.
They probably had tons of gadgets and items they would use on him. To make him feel pain, to torture him. Ahsoka couldn't stand the thought of him being in harm's way. She clenched her jaw and bit her lip, eventually tasting blood. Why couldn't she just get away from everything! Away from the war. Away from pain. Away from the terrible things yet to come.
Ahsoka helped herself to her feet and stared at the sky. She wished that the ship would magically return and Rex would hop off it and into her arms. She hoped she was only dreaming and when she woke up Rex would be next to her unharmed. Ahsoka squeezed her eyes shut, tears flowing freely.
Her ears perked to hear the raging fire she had completely abandoned. The storm had somewhat calmed and the angry flames hissed in the rain. In her horror Ahsoka had dropped the bucket full of water. She wiped her eyes and picked up the bucket breaking into a sprint. She darted through the trees and everything about him came flooding into Ahsoka's head. His smile, the memories they shared on the ship, his laugh, the look on his face when he was serious, his deep voice when he comforted her. She tried to ignore the gut feeling she got along with the growing pain in her chest.
She arrived at the creek faster than when tangled with the dreaded storm. Ahsoka quickly dipped the bucket in the water and ran back to the ship. She threw the water onto the fire and it sizzled, reducing the flames. She went back and forth, from the creek and ship several times. Finally the fire was out and the rain had cleared. She sat on the ship and listened to the sounds of animals coming out of their nests and dens.

This calmed her a little bit. But her mind was still racing, wondering. She thought about a plan. A plan that would save Rex, and hopefully wouldn't get her captured along the way.
The ship came to a shaky stop and everyone on board was flung forward. The clones behind him still hung on to Rex. They couldn't risk their prisoner getting away. Not after all the trouble they had been through trying to find him. Dogma grumbled something under his breath about Jedi being traitors and how Rex was stupid for thinking otherwise. Rex glowered with fury, but bottled his anger up inside of him.
He didn't want to get killed. He needed to stay alive, so he could see Ahsoka again. Ahsoka and her big blue eyes that shone in the moonlight. Her beautiful, dark, citrus colored skin, and her long, striped, lekku.
The platform opened and the clones began filing off the ship. Dogma pushed Rex forward and Rex hastily walked off the ship. From inside the ship he couldn't see where he was. But as he stepped into the light he now saw he was on a star destroyer. Everything around him was different. Even the feel of the place sent a shiver down Rex's spine.
Overhead intercoms boomed with orders and clones ran in every direction. To the side Rex saw a whole line of ships. Only they weren't the ones he was used to seeing. One particularly caught his eyes. It was gray, with a little window in front that had black glass panes. On either side of it were two enormous wings with black panels and grey bars that split them up into sections. To say the least, the ship was intimidating.
"Come on," Dogma growled, dragging him forward.
Rex cursed under his breath before reluctantly following the clone. Dogma led him away from the hanger and to a long corridor. It was busy, with troopers bustling past them and coming and going through the doors. Some came out with yelling prisoners, others came out with blood on their armor. Rex swallowed hard before continuing to go where Dogma was leading him.
They came to a prison cell with a rusted, steel, door and the smell of rotting flesh. Rex was repulsed and gagged, vomiting in his mouth. Dogma pushed a red button opening the cell. He removed Rex's binder before pushing him in. Rex tripped and fell to his hands and knees. The ground was cold and sticky with an unknown substance. Rex figured he didn't want to know what happened to the last prisoner.
He scrambled to his feet and ran to the door just in time for Dogma to close it in his face. He growled and pounded on the steel door. No such luck.
"Don't get comfortable" Dogma hissed, "You won't be in there for long"
The smell of smoke filled Ahsoka's nose as she gazed out at their shelter, now burnt to a crisp and charred. The sounds of Shyyyo birds squawking could be heard as well as the low growls of Kashyyyk Banthas. Ahsoka needed the force to help her in this situation. She knew she was going to save Rex, but the real question was how?
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She felt as the force flowed through her. All the way from her toes to the tip of her head. She felt the force in all the life in the jungle that surrounded her. This planet might be dangerous with murderous animals, and horrible storms. But the force was very strong here, that was one of the things Ahsoka liked about it.
Ahsoka crossed her legs and set her hands on her thighs. She breathed in and then out, slowly capturing the energy within her. She silently asked the force to help her. Give her a sign or hope. Maybe even just a tool or idea to help her on her journey.
She suddenly felt the force become very strong and more energetic. Rocks began to float around her and a strong breeze blew through the trees. Animals called and chirped in the jungle. She felt as if something was calling to her. It was almost wanting her to be here. Then she heard a faint voice.
"Ahsoka" the voice called, "Ahsoka are you there?"
She followed the voice onto the ship, in the cockpit. It was a transmission, from a Jedi. They were calling because of the message Rex had sent earlier. The Jedi had auburn hair along with a beard, and deep blue eyes. She squinted and got closer to realize who it was. It was Obi wan, he had survived.

This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.
