With a final glance, Sorgon cracked a sly smile at the pair before turning on his heels and walking away. Rex ran to the bars of the cell and shook them violently. Sorgon just snorted and kept walking.
"There's got to be a way out of here" Rex muttered scanning the inside of the cell for any possible escape routes.
He pounded on the metal bars, only bruising his knuckles. Even though he should, Rex couldn't feel the pain. He let out a groan and stomped over to Ahsoka. He started to try and claw at the ground but the stone flooring wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. Then Rex whirled around, heaving shaky breaths from all the adrenaline.
"Come on" he grumbled, searching for any secret levers or buttons with the palms of his hands.
"Rex" Ahsoka groaned.
Rex didn't hear her. He was so lost in his own frustration and panic that he wasn't focusing on anything else. He muttered things under his breath and started pacing. Ahsoka was just about done.
"Rex!" she yelled with all her might.
Rex snapped to attention and turned to look at his beloved. She was shuddering and hurt but Rex didn't see to notice.
"Please" she begged, "It's no use"
"No no no, there had to be a way out I'm not letting them torture you again!" he cried, "We have been through so much! So much Ahsoka! I can't stand the thought of failing to save you this time!"
Rex crumbled to the ground next to Ahsoka, his back to the wall. He put his face in his hands and let out a long sigh.
"This is all my fault" Rex mumbled, his voice breaking.
"Take that back," Ahsoka demanded.
"No! I can't take it back when it's true! I'm the one that got captured, I'm the one you had to save which caused you to crash on Onderon, and if I had just been better and thought quicker we wouldn't even be in this mess!" Rex cried.
"Rex, look at me" Ahsoka said tersely, "This is not your fault. None of this is. We are going to get out of here, and we are going to get through this because of you! Hell, look who's the one who needs saving right now!"
"I'm scared Soka" Rex admitted.

These words made Ahsoka's heart ache for him, "I know you are Rex. I am too. But we're gonna get through this, we always do. You're gonna do whatever Hondo asks and we'll be far away from here in no time"
Rex forced a sad smile, the creases not reaching his eyes. Ahsoka put a shaky hand against his cheek and Rex leaned into her touch. As soon as he felt her ice like skin on his own, it hit him.
"Your freezing" he said in a panicked tone.
He had been so worked up that he hardly noticed how surprisingly cold it was in their cell. He had been sweating thanks to the pressure, fear, guilt, and all the emotions that were flooding in at the moment.
"I'm fine," Ahsoka snapped.
Rex shot her a sideways glance. Ahsoka glared back.
"Look at you! Your shivering so much you might as well shake the whole cell" Rex pointed out.
He began to tug at his blacks, making Ahsoka feel even more guilty.
"Rex I don't want to ta-" she began.
"Please don't argue. You need it more than I do" Rex interrupted her.
Ahsoka could hear as Rex began to tear the upper half of his blacks off. Even in the dim lighting, Ahsoka could make out Rex's toned muscles as his bare chest was now visible. Her cheeks flushed pink and Rex smirked, scooting closer to her. Ahsoka gave him a warm smile and a soft kiss on the cheek. Rex returned the gesture and put the makeshift shirt on the freezing togruta next to him.
Even though it usually fit Rex pretty tightly, it hung loosely on Ahoska's slim body. Rex had to admit, he liked it better on her. It seemed to do the trick as she slowly stopped shivering violently and cuddled into Rex's side. Rex wrapped a firm arm around her and pulled her into his arms. She gave a soft hum and buried her head into his chest. Even in a time like this, Ahoska still got butterflies. That's when she remembered about the question that kept seeping into her thoughts no matter what. She had been dying to ask the question, but fear had kept the answer from her.
"Hey Rex?" she asked, a hint of nervousness in her tone.

Rex just hummed in response.
"Did you mean it?" Ahsoka asked.
"Mean what?" Rex asked with a puzzled expression.
"What you said back on Onderon... about how you loved me ever since I became Anakin's padawan?" Ahsoka questioned fidgeting with her fingers.
A small smile crept across Rex's face.
"I meant every word of it," Rex claimed.
Ahsoka felt like she was floating on air. She searched for his hand and laced their fingers together. Rex looked from their hands back into the sparkling, blue, eyes of the breath taking girl in front of him. Ahsoka sat up slowly, then traced Rex's jaw line with a delicate finger. They locked eyes then collided into each other.
Before Rex knew it they were kissing, both of their hands covering every inch of the other's body. As if they were trying to remember what the other looked like, felt like. Ahsoka hungrily devoured Rex's lips, tasting them with each kiss. Even though her eyes were closed, she knew exactly what Rex looked like right now. Rex ran his hands down to her waist and sat her on his lap. Her legs straddled him and he nudged her cheek as his lips crashed into hers.
Ahsoka's hands were on Rex's chest now and they slid up to the back of his neck. Her hands dangled over his shoulders for a moment before crawling up to his head and running through Rex's hair. One thing Ahsoka wasn't right now, was cold. Even though her body told her to stop, she craved more. All the muscles in her body ached as she pulled Rex closer to her so she could feel his body heat radiating off of his body. But that didn't stop her.
They parted for a moment, both breathing heavily and gasping for a breath of fresh air. Then Rex grabbed Ahsoka's lekku and pulled her back in to continue the make out session. He felt against his own lips as Ahsoka smiled, making him crack a grin as well. Even in the worst possible circumstances they still managed to have time to be together, just the two of them.
Rex caressed Ahsoka's face, planting small pecks on her neck. They tickled and Ahsoka laughed, squirming and tensing up. Rex kissed her more fiercely just sending her into a giggling fit. Every one of the other prisoners there probably thought they were out of their mind. Which just might have been true at the moment.
Finally it slowed down and Ahsoka just laid there with her head resting on Rex's shoulder. Her legs were still on either side of his torso and he held her tightly to his chest. Ahsoka didn't realize how exhausted she was until she closed her eyes. She felt herself start to drift asleep to the sound of Rex's beating heart. It gave her a feeling of comfort and before she knew it she was out cold.
It took Rex a minute to realize Ahsoka had fallen asleep. When he did, he gently pressed a soft kiss to her forehead before laying her down next to him. She started to shiver and again and Rex tried to keep her warm as best as he could with his own body heat. He found himself gazing at Ahsoka as she slept peacefully next to him. He noticed how her chest rose and fell, and how every now and then her eyes would flutter. This only made Rex fall even more in love with her.
"Goodnight Soka" he whispered in her ear.
He laid down next to her and pulled her small body in the crevice of his own. She let out a small breath before shifting so that her back was against his chest. Rex couldn't help but smile and kissed her cheek one last time before closing his own eyes as well.
His thoughts were all over the place, ranging from tomorrow to growing old with Ahsoka. It was mainly about tomorrow though, and to be completely honest he was terrified. Only Ahsoka could get his mind off of the possibility that they could die. But he was going to win. He was going to win for Ahsoka, for himself, and their future together. He couldn't imagine her not being there when he woke up in the morning. Her smile that just made him feel at home, her eyes that shined brightly even when it was pitch black outside, and her soft lips that kissed him and reminded him what love was. Even though he was scared, Rex was determined. He was going to win this battle once and for all.

Getting Hard (Journey of a Tank)
Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. To be immortal—that was his first Goal, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days. Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so. But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one. No matter what. Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, the journey of an immortal tank begins. This is the tale of Herald Stone...getting hard. Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat, 10am Central/ 3pm GMT. ~1.8k-2.3k words per chapter. Also published on Scribblehub. My other ongoing story: REND | Royal Road Expect a focus on building a true tank in MMORPGs. Heavy game elements and numbers are present. But actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable. The main character is atypical in LitRPGs or web novels as a whole. He might take some getting used to. Character arcs will develop over a long period. What you see now will be different as the main character changes. The start of Getting Hard is slow-paced (more so than others of the genre) and includes world-building and character development before focusing on the LitRPG.
