i had always imagined it to be exactly like the books. sparks would ignite, and fireworks would erupt out of nowhere. yet, none of this was true.

the second orion's lips had planted themselves on mine, my heart began to beat faster than the speed of light, and my body became the insignificant vessel that was used to maneuver it.

just as my legs were about to give out, his arms wrapped around my waist, holding me up. the heat of his body against mine made my mind spin. my hands found their way into his hair, curling around his luxuriant locks.

they were just as soft as they looked.

i hadn't expected his touch to burn into my skin, sending tingles up my arm, engraving a sacred memory into my brain. my first kiss.

when he pulled away, i let out a small sigh. "t-that was...different." i whisper, putting a finger to my mouth as i try to savor the feel of his lips against mine.

"yeah?" he asks, looking lost in thought as he stares at his hands, a ghost of a smile hinting at his face.

"yeah." i respond, grinning.

when he looks back at me, i'm almost positive i can see his soul through the smile he wears proudly on his face.

the words of my mother cross my mind as we stare goofily at each other.

a smile is love winking at you.
