《The Touch of Infection》Chapter 10: Walking through the rain

She had gone to sleep a while after getting him cleaned up. She didn't even care that he was staring anymore, she just wanted sleep. By the time it was the morning she woke up stretching her arms.
She didn't want to get herself out of the bed, practically rolling out until she hit the floor with a thud. In seconds he was at the door, a worried expression in his face when he heard the sound of her falling.
Her eyes trailing up to him before getting up, walking past him as she rubbed her eyes. Heading to the window she looked out, not many zombies around, she could probably leave the place with minor inconveniences. Going to her bag she picked the first can she saw. Great, early morning greens, yum.
Opening it up she started eating when she tried offering him he covered his mouth. Did he really hate everything she ate so bad? She snickered and continued eating while looking out a window. Wanting to see where the zombies moved towards most... maybe she could get them to move elsewhere.
She looked through the house, finding nothing useful until she looked in the closet. Holy hell, a winter jacket. She could cry right now from happiness, after going from house to house and running for her life she finally got one. Hugging it even before putting it on.
It was a bit big but better than being a bit small instead. Seeing her standing there so giddy he genuinely smiled, looking away before she noticed. He knew the zombies where nearby, and that they wouldn't just leave because they heard a little sound.
Searching through their crowds for an opening, finally an empty spot. If they were quiet enough they could pass through it unnoticed. Quickly walking over to her, she was still searching through the room. Women, there are more important things to do! Where his thoughts before hoisting her up in his arms.

She panicked for a few seconds as he took her out the window, putting a finger against his lips as he set her down on the floor. He walked closely behind her, pushing her forward in the right direction until they made it out of town. A sigh of relief coming from her as she turned to push him teasingly.
In response, he decided to push her back... forgetting she was human for a second. She dragged against the floor a couple of feet, bruising her arms, legs, and even face. Running to her side he panicked, helping her up and dusting the grass off her. Seeing how she has bruised all over because of a little push. Seeing the small patches of blood appearing in her face over it. What could he do about it now? It was too late to take it back.
She pushed him off and shook her head, "I'm fine, just forget it." He didn't know what she was saying, curse this language barrier. Walking away she looked back at him and signaled him to come. To which he quickly began following her.
They walked together all the way to the woods. She'd been slightly limping occasionally. But not like it would stop her, he began climbing the trees and staring at her from above. Keeping an eye out for her the whole day, until it was getting to the time he had to leave.
She began climbing a tree to spend the night, feeling her bruises brush up against the tree. He held out a hand for her to take. When she did he helped her up a good distance. Setting her on the branch and jumping to a different tree.
Keeping an eye on her until she fell asleep, heading out after she did. Noticing as he was nearing his destination rain started to fall, and then it got heavy. It was pouring out and she was in a freaking tree. He wouldn't be able to get to her in at least two days.

She was shaking in her spot, soaked in water after it had rained a couple of hours. She just needed to wait a little longer, hope it stopped, and hope the sun came out. Her teeth were chattering and she was shaking all over, feeling the blood drip off her nose.
It just wouldn't stop raining! If anything it got harder... the sun did come up but was covered by clouds, barely shining through. Time to get up and move she thought. Climbing her way down slowly, trying to get a good grip of the branches as she went down.
One of her hands slipping, she was falling! She was alone and she didn't know how she managed to wrap her leg around the branch and save herself. Getting back to climbing down after panicking a few seconds she breathed in deeply.
When she made it down she listened in for any growls. She would have done it sooner but in the panic she forgot. All she could hear was rain, even looking around she couldn't spot them.
Walking through the rain, she headed the same direction like her last day. She wanted, no she needed to find shelter. At this rate, she'd get sick, and she knew just how impossible it was to find medicine.
Making it to an abandoned hut she found the door wide open. By now she didn't care of someone lived there and would be coming back soon, she just wanted to get undercover. Going inside and looking both ways in case there were any zombies.
Empty, everything was empty, blocking the door with a chair that was around and sitting on it. Quickly removing her jacket off and setting her bag aside. While deciding to take a better look around, nothing useful, just a few pieces of furniture, but it was empty aside from her.
Sitting back down she was still shaking, her whole being was cold and wet... slowly and surely falling asleep in that state.
