My dearest, the mission was successful

We've finally won the war, but with a cost

Since we also lost a lot of good men along the way,

Some of them were my acquaintances

I feel bad for the ones they would leave behind

May they be compensated generously

For what their sons, husbands, and fathers did

To serve our beloved country

Which was among the bravest thing

I've seen throughout the war

For their noble sacrifice

Saved a lot of lives

Our family included my dear

May they receive an honorable burial

May they also rest in peace

And awarded for their efforts

Anyways I guess this would be my last letter

For I can finally go home

And see you, my dear, personally

Again thank you for making sure that our kids feel loved

I know it's hard without me there

But you really put yourself thru

Also, I wanted to thank you

For praying for my safety

As well as waiting for me patiently

I guess what I'm trying to say is

I told you, whatever happens

I will always return home

So goodbye "for now,"

I shall see you, my beloved family, soon
