Landing at JFK reminded me that the winter break was over and I was back to waking up to alarm in morning and running for my class.
I took a taxi and told the driver the directions to my accommodation.
The last two weeks were best days I've ever spent with them. They had to go to work in the second week but that did not stop them from spending some time with their only daughter.
I got to know a lot about them. My dad actually enjoys bowling and he has a thing to go shopping for clothes. My mom, on the other hand, explained how terrible I was in the kitchen. She was never very good at cooking, however, my dad is and hence I survive with a recipe book.
Sometime during my time in LA, I had to see Daniel. Ignoring him was not really something possible and he couldn't go a second without flirting with me. That player keeps forgetting the chick he brought along. It got to a stage where I splashed my drink on him and slapped him across his face in front of his so-called friends.
That slap made me feel so much better.
The taxi driver stopped in front of my building. I hand him the money and got out of the taxi. I take my luggage out of the trunk of the taxi and made my way to the building.
I signed in my arrival at the front desk and then headed to the elevator. I pressed the button to my floor and waited till the elevator door opened on the right floor.
When it did, I was greeted by my some of my acquaintances. I pull my heavy suitcase along the corridor till I found my door. I took the key out of my bag and placed it in the keyhole and turned to unlock it but it didn't turn. I knew that Emma was here already.
I bang on the door as loud as I could and that was one of the things Emma hated the most. I could hear her walking around, I kept banging on the door till she answered the door. I heard her groan in annoyance. I heard the door click and the door opened.
The expression of annoyance changed to excitement and almost pounced on me and hugged me.
"HOLLY!!!!" she exclaims and kept hugging me tightly.
"Em, I c-cant-t br-breathe." I manage to say. "I'm sorry" she quickly pulls away and let me into the room.
I kept my suitcase beside my bed and sat on my bed. I looked around the room and couldn't believe I was away from this room for over a month.
"When did you arrive?" I ask her as she settled her clothes into her cupboard.
"Just this morning. I did not know you were arriving today I mean you were supposed to be here before me. Why did you extend the break?" she turns around and asks me.
"Uh-"
"You wanted to spend some time with your boyfriend, didn't you?" I roll my eyes. "No, and we haven't labelled anything on it yet." I correct her.
"Oh." she looked down. "Does the extension of your holidays explain why you haven't called or answered messages?" I nod at her question.
I got up from my bed and walk to my cupboard. "Why don't you settle your stuff and I freshen up and we go have dinner at the cafe at the corner?" She nods her head.
"That sounds good." I nod and take some clothes from the cupboard along with my towel and walk into our tiny bathroom for a shower.

With the arrival of students after the winter break, the building was very noisy. Loud music from the annoying boys that lived on the floor above the one that I was on.
Emma and I walked down the sidewalk to the little cafe at the corner of the street that we live on.
We walk into the cafe and find ourselves a table. The waiter came over and gave the two of us the menu card and left us to decide our choices. After a couple of minutes, the waiter came back and we gave him the order and left us again leaving us with water in our glasses.
"So!" Emma starts and I look at her. "Tell me everything!" She holds her hands together showing me her excitement.
"What's there to say? I told you everything except for my extended holiday." I take a sip of water from my glass.
"Yeah I know but- you're here now! I get to see your expressions and everything!" I roll my eyes.
"What do you want to know? About him? Well, he is everything I wanted in a guy. Just like what you told me, he belongs to the list of not being a jerk." I tell her.
"How's his kiss?" She eagerly asks.
"I'm not going to tell you that. That's between Jasper and me." I tell her. "Oh come on, I can tell you all about my kiss with Ryan." She tries to get me to talk.
"Emma, you've been with him only for two weeks before the break." I remind her. "Yeah but we're back here now." She tells me, I just nod.
The waiter came back with the dishes that we ordered. He placed it before us and gave a killer smile by telling us to enjoy our meal.
"He's pretty good looking." I whisper to Emma.
"Holly! You're dating!" She gasps, I chuckle and twirl my fork to get some of the spaghetti. "Anyway, change of subject now." I look up at her as I started to chew the spaghetti in my mouth. "The reason for you to extend your holiday." I stop chewing for a moment.
"I thought you wanted to come back here and finish up with some work." I nod and wait for her to finish. "I did manage to do my work before Christmas but you could say I extended the break a bit to do my writers club work." I try and say.
"What do you mean by "you could say"?" She asks as she sliced a piece of her chicken.
"I uh-" I stop and clear my throat. "Emma, I was in LA for the last two weeks," I say and her I stand reaction is to stop eating. She carefully placed her knife and fork on the side of her plate and just looked at me.
"You were in LA." She slowly restates the same thing I just said, I nod and wait for to continue. "You told me you weren't going to your place after the conversations you had with your mother."
"I know." I give her only nods, I couldn't do anything else but that. "What even changed your mind to get on a plane and fly south, Holly! After everything they did to you after-" she stops abruptly and just shook her head. "I did not expect that. How, Holly? How?" I smile a bit being proud of what Jasper did.
"Jasper. Jasper changed my mind, Emma." Her face changed, her anger seems to calm a bit. "He spoke to me and I'm not saying he wasn't mad at them, he was. We sat on the ground, our backs against the wall. It was way past midnight but he told me that even through the bad, it wouldn't be that bad to give them another chance this year." I explain and her face now had a small smile.

"Emma, they made sure that they spent some time with me. I haven't forgiven them but for the Christmas I had, my visiting them was a little New Year's gift." Talk of Jasper and all her anger disappears.
"I - I don't know what to say. He's a miracle boy isn't he?" She chuckles, so did I.
"I wouldn't disagree, he is a miracle. One of the best thing that could have ever happened in my life, Emma." I couldn't stop smiling.
"So, how is it at home?" She resumed to eating her chicken steak. "I wouldn't call it home yet, it was alright. Plus, I got to slap Daniel." Her eyebrows raised as she heard me say about Daniel.
"The usual happened. He flirted, I splashed my drink on him along with a slap." I put some spaghetti in my mouth after I proudly told her about it.
"I'm proud of you. You should have done that long time ago." She tells me. "I have done that. He never seemed to understand." I drank some water.
"Anyway, enough about me. How are you?" I change the topic.
"Apart from the fact that I'm dying to meet Ryan? I'm glad I came off from home, I've had enough with that brother of mine." She let out a frustrated sigh at the mention of Eliot. "I mean, he's the weirdest brother who really doesn't bother if a random guy is forcing himself on me. I swear I'm not going to a club again or for a party." She shook her head.
Eliot is such a jerk.
"So yeah, I'm glad I'm back here." She nods and says.
Once we were done with our meal, we asked the waiter for some ice cream scoops for dessert.
It was nine when we reached our room. We were tired so we just crashed on to our bed to get some rest. Another four more days and I would I have to wake up for classes.
----
That annoying alarm kept ringing and I kept switching it off. When that ended, Emma started yelling my name. She sounded like a maniac.
I heard her go into the bathroom which made me smile. I snuggled in my blanket and continue to sleep.
Just as I was about to catch my lost sleep, someone started banging on my door. I'm not getting up. I put my head under the pillow and try to sleep.
"Holly! I swear can't you be awake early at least today!" I heard her yell, I ignore it like any other day.
There was silence and I was thankful for it. Why couldn't it be this silent every morning? It would be wonderful to wake up when you're comfortable in silence.
I was near catching my deep sleep when I was woken up by something cold. When I came to some sense, I realised it was cold water.
"EMMA!" I yell and sit up on the bed to look at Emma along with Ryan and Jasper. I look at Emma and she had a grin on her face.
I was drenched. It would be like any other day if Ryan and Jasper were not in the room.
"You'll get back for this." I mutter and get out of bed. I heard her giggle. Well, isn't it lovely to wake up by getting totally embarrassed in front of someone you're dating.
In the next twenty minutes, I was all ready for the day. Emma had the coffee ready and the four of us walked out and headed towards the campus.
Emma and Ryan were walking in front of us. They were holding hands and walking and they were talking a lot since they haven't seen each other in person for a while now.
"Do you always wake up like that, Scrooge?" I heard Jasper ask, I cringe at my nickname he gave me.
"Hey! Christmas is over so stop with the Scrooge." I punch his arm. "And yes, I hate waking up in the morning." I admit which made him chuckle.
"Did you finish the club work?" He asks me, I blush a bit and nod. "Yeah."
"Do I get to see it?" I look at him and shake my head. "You won't. Were you planning on showing me yours?" I ask.
"I would if you were planning to show me yours." He looks ahead and replies. "I see." I sigh and take a sip of my coffee.
"Let's make a deal, Jasper." He looks at me. "Let's never read each other's work till we think it's the right time to read it," I say. He doesn't say anything for a while. I don't even know where that came from. I was very curious to read Jasper's work.
"Deal." He says as we walk into the campus, I nod.
"Let me be a gentleman and drop you to class." He says before the couple in front of us stops.
"I'll see you later, Holly." Emma waves me goodbye for the day and she and Ryan turn right and head for their class.
Jasper and I took the stairs in front of us. I greet a few acquaintances when we reached the first floor.
As we approach my lecture room, I see Daniel standing outside with his gang and chicks. I immediately reach for Jasper's hand and held it.
"Well, there she is." I heard him say. "Holly darling, I missed you and you walk out on the night that I thought things would work out." I stop and look at him, he did some high fives with his friends.
"Holly, leave it alone." Jasper whispers. I wanted to punch him right in front of everyone. I admit that I felt good after I slapped him but whatever he did to me would always get me a little each I see him.
Listening to Jasper, I ignore him and walk into the room.
"Ignore him and he won't bother you. I'll see you after class." I look up at him, he kissed my temple. I tell him goodbye and find myself a seat and settled down on it. Everyone was soon in the room soon and so was our professor. The minute the lecture started, I wanted to sleep but the hope of meeting Jasper kept me awake and alert.
I look at the notes that were being discussed and I took the notes down.
