《Fate》Chapter 34

"So, what are you doing for that?" I asked Nishi on call.
"Ah! Okay. Me?! I don't know, but I am planning on calling our classmates? That's the only option now." I answered her back as I arranged sheets on my table.
"I seriously don't know why they had to give such a project just right after term-end. Huh. Anyway, I will talk to you later. I need to talk to halmeoni." I said and hung up the call.
My professor had called this afternoon. Yeah, the call for which Eunji called me back. We had another project to submit as a part of our term-end. The topic was " Korean Dialects." And for me, it was the presentation.
We are supposed to prepare a detailed report on the topic along with some interviews with native people. At least five people are necessary. I don't know if I should panic or not. Though, I will get a bit of information about dialects in YouTube videos and google scholar. It's a hard job.
I called my classmates and friends. The problem is the only Korean friend I have is Eunji and Suho. Though, Eunji said that she would try to talk to her other friends, but then too. Not everyone is going to be a teacher?! besides, not everyone is supposed to like language as a major to think that deeply about that.
"Ugh!" I sighed with frustration.
I haven't talked to halmeoni in a long time.
Talking about her, I don't know how I became this close to her. She accepted me, regardless of the fact that I am a foreigner. Maybe it's because of that day? When I took her to hospital because she fainted while serving? That is a long story, but I am really grateful to her.
I dialed her number as I waited patiently.
"Yeoboseyo, Granny snack point." Her voice echoed through the other side.
"Annyeonghaseyo Halmeoni! It's me, Y/N." I spoke up.
"Oh! Y/N?! Long time dear. How are you?" She asked.
"I am good. And you? How's the restaurant going?"
"Pretty fine. Just, you are missing. I have made nothing for you from the past two weeks." She sighed.
She is so sweet; I told you earlier.
" I miss you too, halmeoni. And I miss your food, too. I promise I will meet you soon."

How can't I? I used to have my breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner as well in her restaurant. After talking to her, I started gathering my resources.
I was all alone in my room with my laptop and afternoon sun rays peeking in.
By the time I was done preparing the outline of my presentation, it was already evening. I stretched my arms as I got a message.
Eunji: We are having a meal. Come fast.
"Get up Ms.Y/N," I mumbled and made my way outside after closing my books.
The dinner went well.
Same as it was on the first day?
Like everyone was enjoying each other's company and cracking jokes. Everyone seemed relaxed and contained. Guys were roaming here and there cus of course, it was their house.
Eunji was busy on her phone on the couch after food as I went to wash my plate.
I was on my way back to continue with my pending work when a voice called me from behind.
"Y/N?!"
I turned to acknowledge the person.
"Ah, Ye?!" I asked Jungkook, who stood in front of me.
"Um, I saw you seemed a little tensed?! while eating dinner. Is everything okay?" He asked, with his doe eyes shining in the dim light of the hallway.
Was I? Was it that obvious?
"Oh! That's nothing big. I was just thinking about my project." I smiled.
"Project?!" He asked.
"Yes, we got a new one. It's about dialects in Korean." I sighed.
"Dialects?! Is it only Dialects?" He asked, voice filled with sudden eagerness.
"The main topic is dialects. We need to research its origin and stuff, and pronunciation. We are also supposed to add the interview of at least five people, and I need to prepare a ppt." I replied.
" That's a lot..." He said on which I could only laugh awkwardly.
"Do you need any help?" He slowly murmured.
What?
I listened to it correctly, right?
"Pardon?"
"I was saying if you need help- I mean like I can help you with that if you want." He said.
Is he serious?
"Really?" I asked, puzzled.
"Yeah. I am a native, after all. So I would know as well. Right?" He remarked.

"Right. But you have practices and-"
"Don't worry about that. I play most of the time after practice. So,...Yes or no??" He asked with a hint of excitement.
"Um, if that doesn't bother you...then yes," I replied, smiling softly.
The Jeon Jungkook was helping me, after all, despite his busy schedule. I am really grateful.
"We should start, I guess?" He suggested.
"Now? " I asked, a bit bewildered.
"The sooner the merrier. Only if you want?"
"Okay. No problem. " I nodded.
"I will arrange my room. We can start there. " He said and went inside his room, without giving me a chance to reply.
I shook my head while chuckling and entered my room as well.
Y/N pov end.
Timeskip.
"I honestly don't know how you are doing this so efficiently. " Jungkook asked, amazed as he looked over Y/N, who was typing on her laptop.
"I am a student, after all, Jungkoo." She chuckled as she shook her head. What she didn't notice was the latter's sudden flushed face.
Jungkook scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and replied, " Still, I wonder how people like you do it." He muttered.
Jungkook and Y/N both were currently sitting on his bed, doing Y/N's project together.
Jungkook had taken the responsibility of searching the sites and facts, whereas Y/N was noting down whatever he was saying.
Currently, both were sitting on his bed, between the mess of sheets. Papers were scattered here and there on the bed, so do the markers and pencils.
"Just like how you do everything so well whether it be dancing, singing, drawing, playing, anything..?" Y/N replied, smiling a bit in response as she glanced over at the person sitting in front of him.
"That's my passion." He said.
"This is mine." She averted her gaze from her laptop and looked towards him... again. He smiled and nodded in response as he went back to arranging the sheets.
A ting on Y/N's phone made her stop from what she was doing.
"Gosh, It's gotten so late. I should go now." Y/N said hurriedly, sitting up straight.
"Oh! Right! We have practice tomorrow!" Jungkook said, keeping all the sheets together. Y/N closed her laptop and folded the small table which was on her lap before.
"Thank you so much, Jungkook. You don't know how relieved I am now." Y/N thanked him.
"It's nothing! Besides, I think of you as my friend. It's my pleasure I could lessen your burden." Jungkook spoke up genuinely.
"Then too. Sleep well." She said, getting up.
"You too," Jungkook replied as he tagged along with her to his room's doorframe.
Y/N kept her things on her study desk as she made her way out. Eunji was already fast asleep.
Y/N opened the glass door, as,
"What took you so long?" Jimin pouted.
"I am sorryyyy. I was doing my project." Y/n said as she approached him.
"Ohh, It's okay. By the way, you missed a shooting star," Jimin sighed as he relaxed on the railing.
"Wait- what? Shooting star?" Y/N asked him in disbelief.
"Yes, a shooting star," Jimin replied, looking her way.
"Maybe next time..." Y/N muttered, shaking her head. She turned her head back to the sky as the cold breeze caressed her cheeks.
"I am sorry.." Jimin apologized.
"Why? Why are you sorry? I was late, so it's my fault." Y/N pouted.
"Ani...I am sorry because I joked with you." Jimin said, which made Y/N turn her head to his side in disbelief.
"What do you mean?" She raised a brow.
Jimin couldn't hold his laugh anymore as he burst out laughing. Y/N was looking at him, dumbfounded.
"Your reaction was priceless, really." He said, calming down.
Y/N's lips cracked into an annoyed smile as she hit him playfully, as per reflex,
"Yah! OH! Sorry, sorry!." She panicked as her eyes went wide as saucers.
Jimin was slightly taken aback at her sudden outburst, but soon he laughed it off.
"Look at your face now." He said, keeping a hand over his face.
"Yah," Y/N whined as she looked another way, embarrassed.
Their light-hearted conversation lasted for a few minutes more. After which, they both bid each other good night and went to their respective rooms.

An astroid miner encounters pirates attempting to commandeer his processing ship, Elizabeth, while he was away responding to other miner's mayday. The miner (Jeffrey Sokolov) and his Artificial Intelligence (Elizabeth - both the ship and AI were named after Jeffrey's late wife,) outsmart the pirates, capture them and bring them back to the Earth/Moon station - where they attempt to turn them over to the Naval ship, Wanigan. However Wanigan is in the process of mutiny. The executive officer of Wanigan sends a small squad of Marines under command of a petty officer. The petty officer realizes an opportunity, convinces Sokolov to join her cause, and together with the AI (Elizabeth) re-take the Navy ship, and restore her captain to command. In order to perform these acts, Sokolov and the ship Elizabeth are drafted into Navy Reserve. The captain of the Navy ship Wanigan re-recruits Jeffrey to act in a secret capacity, he is given an almost unlimited credit, the squad of Marines that came aboard to arrest Jeffrey, and the petty officer. Piracy and corruption are overly common, but Jeffrey, his team and his AI defeat the enemy, only to have it resurface shortly afterward. Aliens from several surrounding regions have found Earth and the solar system to be a rich source of mineral wealth. They secretly tried to manipulate humans to doing their will, and Jeffrey discovered that they were the organizers and force behind the piracy. Jeffrey and the navy take on the new menace, but new tools, including faster-than-light travel become available. Jeffrey and Elizabeth improve on the Navy's technical innovations, incorporate alien technology into their ship, and continue to dominate the region infested with aliens with somewhat superior and somewhat inferior technology. This is the saga of a technically sophisticated man, his smart and loyal artificial intelligence, and the people he surrounds himself with.
