"New challengers, huh?" A voice called out. "I'm Blue, the gym leader here" The voice was soon accompanied by a man with orange hair. He was dressed down in just jeans and a black jacket, but it was enough to look presentable as a gym leader.
"Y/N, this is Cynthia. Do you think you could make an exception for a doubles battle?" Y/N replied. Blue's eyes lit up.
"Of course. Should be interesting." Blue smiled. "Red, come out here. I'm going to need you to accompany me in a doubles battle" A man with clothes similar to what Blue was wearing walked up beside him.
"If I must" Red replied.
"Ready Cynthia?" Y/N asked. My heart was pounding in my chest. I nodded slowly.
"Go, Gible" I shouted, throwing out my pokeball onto the arena.
"Go, Pidgeot" Blue smiled.
"Pikachu, come out" Red spoke.
"Zorua" Y/N commanded.
Red and Blue looked on in awe as the black fox Pokémon jumped out of its ball and got into battle position.
"Pidgeot, use Brave Bird on Zorua" Blue started.
"Pikachu, help out Pidgeot with Volt Tackle" Red followed up. The two Pokémon dashed at Zorua with lightning fast speed.
"Zorua, use protect" Y/N smiled. A barrier came up in front of me and Y/N stopping both of the attacks from connecting. I stared in awe. "Now Cynthia" Y/N raised his voice. I shook myself awake.
"Gible. Use Dragon Rage on Pidgeot" A flurry of blue light darted towards Pidgeot and connected with it directly, knocking it out of the sky.
"Come back bud. You've done well" Blue said, returning his Pokémon. "Go Arcanine"
"Pikachu, use iron tail on Gible" Red commanded. Pikachu ran at Gible as it's tail turned gray. The tail hit Gible square in the chest and sent it flying.

"Gible!" I shouted. Gible stood up slowly and got back into position.
"Zorua, dark pulse" Y/N instructed. Zorua's body glowed as it unleashed a powerful surge of energy, fainting Red's Pikachu as it tried to dodge Zorua's attack. "Now jump up and use night daze on Arcanine" Y/N continued his assault, dropping the Arcanine down to its knees.
"Arcanine use flamethrower on Zorua" Blue shouted. I watched as Y/N just smiled.
"Dodge it Zorua" Y/N looked over at me. I nodded.
"Dragon rage on Arcanine Gible" 'I really hope this works' I thought, panicking. Another blue flurry streamed out of Gible's mouth and connected with Arcanine, knocking it unconscious. "Yes!" I laughed, looking over at Y/N. Y/N smiled.
"Go Charizard" Red shouted.
I turned to face the battlefield again. A charizard?! I panicked even more.
"Charizard, use outrage" Red commanded. The arena flashed a bright blue as I averted my eyes. I looked back. Gible and Zorua had fainted. I called back Gible and Y/N called back Zorua.
"This is only a two Pokémon fight and I only have one Y/N" I looked away, expecting him to shout at me.
"It's alright" Y/N smiled, patting my head.
"No it isn't! Riolu isn't strong enough to take on a Charizard alone!" I closed my eyes. I ruined the battle for us both, we can't win this.
"Only a Riolu left?" Blue mocked, laughing at me and Y/N. "This should be easy for you Red" Red just stared at Y/N, waiting. Y/N growled quietly at Blue's remark.
"Woah. Calm down" I started, trying to calm
Y/N down. Y/N reached for his belt and grabbed the master ball. "Oh boy" I ran behind a pillar for cover.
Y/N spoke quietly. "Come out Garchomp"
The purple dragon stood up proudly and roared at its opponent. Charizard tried to roar back but was silenced by Y/N's quick command.

"Dragon rush. Follow it up with dragon pulse"
Garchomp smashed its tail into Charizard's chest knocking it off balance. A purple beam then followed in succession rendering Charizard unconscious. Y/N returned Garchomp and turned to me. Blue just stood in shock at how fast his teammates' Pokémon had been beaten. I smiled and ran towards Y/N putting my arms around his neck. I kissed Y/N, as his face brightened up again. Blue walked towards us and held out two badges.
"You deserve these. It was a good battle" Blue laughed.
"Agreed" Red smiled at Y/N. Y/N smiled back and took the badges, handing one to me. I stared down at the badge, it was shaped like a leaf.
"I'll see you around" Y/N said, shaking Blue's and Red's hand as he walked out of the gym. I ran after him, waving goodbye as I left the gym.
"That's one gym badge" I jumped around in excitement, putting the badge in my bag.
"Keep it safe" Y/N patted my head. I looked up at Y/N and kissed him. Y/N returned the kiss and held my hand. Everything was perfect. Until that day...

When a longtime plan’s failure ends up opening the path to several twisted opportunities, Roland might have to finally admit to himself that nobody of importance, much less fate itself, had any regards for his heroic inclinations. Slow paced, character focused story. Gets very dark at times. Basically like Lord of the Mysteries with more comedic aspects at the start. Chapters are released Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Average chapter length is about 4000 words, with only the first vision being noticeably shorter. Have fun reading.
