"The thing is that she knows that I like her and she knows that she finds me funny but won't admit it, alright? So you're here tonight because it's Friday and because I want her to be jealous." Adam explains and in my head it doesn't make any sense at all. Probably some weird logic guys have, I think and take a closer look at the girl. She has straight black hair that goes a bit over her shoulders, a leader jacket over a red top and skinny black jeans with knee high black boots. She doesn't look like the typical nerd which is probably why she's here and not in a library.
"So you're just using me?" I ask and raise my eyebrows at him.
"Only fair. You used me few months ago and now I'm using you." He says and gets up. Adam takes my hand and I can't help it but laugh as he leads me into the crowd of dancing people.
"What great friendship we've got." I say and start to dance to the music. Adam chuckles and when I look behind him, I see the girls like starring at us. "She's looking." I tell Adam immediately. "Say something funny to make me laugh."
"Say something funny to make you laugh? You act like that's so easy. This ain't a Guidditch game." He says, not trying to be funny but being funny by doing that. I burst out laughing and put my hand on Adam's shoulder. I start to move my hips to the music and run my fingers through my hair. I take Adam's hand and put it on my waist. When I look behind Adam, I see that she's still looking at us. I lick my lips and turn around. I put one hand behind Adam's neck and start to move my hips right in front of him.
"If you want it to look real, do something." I tell Adam laughing. He chuckles and takes a deep breath before he puts his hands on my waist. I turn around away and see the girl turning away from us.
"Okay, she looked away. Let's go to the bar." I say and take his hand. Adam follows closely behind me as we approach the bar. The bar tender turns around immediately when he sees Adam. He comes straight over to us and when I take a closer look, I see that he looks like he could be Adam's cousin. Maybe he is Adam's cousin that he mentioned when he called me.
"How can I help you?" He asks smirking.
"You can't help him cause that's my job buuut, you can help me. Three shots - no wait! Six, please." I smile and he turns around. I turn around as well to face Adam. "Ready to get drunk?" I ask and he shakes his head at me.
"You should always be so carefree. More fun." Adam smirks and I wink at him before I turn around.
"Here you go." The bar tender says and leaves without wanting money. I shrug, thinking that he probably is Adam's already mentioned cousin and push three to the side. Adam stands himself next to me and puts his arm around my waist. I count down to one and then Adam and I race each other. I'm faster and put the last glass down when Adam is just at his second one. He holds four fingers up and his cousin comes back to give us four more.

"Again?" I ask and he nods. "Fine." I say and quickly drink his last one before his cousin gives us four more. Then we do it again and order four more and do it again. At the end, I had six and Adam just two.
"You really suck at this." I tell him laughing and start to feel a bit dizzy. I take Adam's hand and lead him back to the dance floor, where I do the exact same as before.
"Is she looking?" Adam whispers. I turn around and see that she is.
"Jep and we're currently starring at each other." I tell him, not breaking eye contact with the girl.
"Fuck, what now?" Adam asks and starts to get nervous.
"Imma get ya yo girl." I insure him and pat his shoulder before I walk towards her. Adam doesn't know what to do and just follows me back to the bar. "You... wait here." I say and feel sharp pain rushing through my head. He just nods and I walk over to the girl.
"You don't know me." I start off once I stand next to the girl. "But I'm on a mission and maybe already drunk and maybe feeling very dizzy."
"Are you all right?" She asks giving me a weirded out look.
"Listen, I've been here for maybe 30 minutes,... maybe less, and had a beer and a sip of scotch and something greeinsh sweet tasting something and admittedly more than just a few shots. But! I think I'm alright AND THE POINT IS." I suddenly raise my voice before lowering it again. "The point is." I whisper and take a deep breath. "My friend Adam, you know him, that guy over there." I say and point over to Adam who's looking up at the ceiling.
"He's in my class." She says and blushes.
"Yeah, that weirdo. Who knows why he's looking up... He pretty much invited me to come here and first I thought oh hey might be nice, wasn't out for while and the last time I broke up with the love of my life afterwards and now I see his face and our memories everywhere I go. Everything I look at reminds me of him and it doesn't feel good, let me make that clear. But hey, can't be as bad as that, can it? So I here I came. And the truth is if my life was like it was few weeks ago, I would be in LA now. I wouldn't be here, trying to get you to like my friend. I would be in LA with my sweet boyfriend who always took care of me. I would be by his side while he's getting a small surgery on his knee and I would be his nurse if he wanted to. We had plans. We had plans to get a lot of food and eat all night. I would be by his side now if my life wasn't always shit. I would be happy and with but no, I'm here." I say all this very fast as I look into her empty glass.
"I would be with him and not some random LA chick. And I bet she's not even just a chick and super nice and there's no point in calling her chick but she is where I should be but I threw it all away. My life is shit and I've accepted it.

So I came here, though it would take my mind off things and turns out the only reason why Adam wanted me to be here was because he wants you. I don't know your name--"
"Korra." She cuts me off.
"Korra, you seem like a nice girl and Adam got that weird logic about how you know that he likes you and how you know that you find him funny but would never admit it and making you jealous is apparently the key but ,Korra, we both know that it isn't. Yet I danced with him and you looked away so I guess in some way it worked. And, Korra, you know, he admires you. That's literally what he said and telling you all this may ruin everything and you maybe want to get as far away from him as possible, but you know, my dad once said that people like me, no matter what shit I say because I'm cute or whatever. Mind you I was 4 when he told me that and I can't even remember it because I can't remember shit about my childhood but he said so and I believe him but that isn't the point. The point is... Sorry that I talk so much by the way. Is the alcohol in me and my head hurts sooo much and I feel so dizzy and--"
"What's the point?" Korra cuts me off.
"The point is that he likes you and i think you like him too, after all... you just listened... to everything... that I said... really fast... and that... doesn't even... make... sense." I have to take deep breaths between my words and sharp pain runs though my head. I've gone from rambling really fast and saying every that is in my head to very slow and heavily breathing. I put my hand on my head, feeling how burning hot it is and shut my eyes, longer than for it to be normal.
"I think you need to lay down." Korra says and helps me stand. She leads me to Adam and he quickly helps her helping me stand.
"She needs to lay down." Korra tells him. Adam is speechless for a second because that's the first word she said to him since she said no to going out with him. But then he opens his mouth slightly and nods.
"Yes." Adam says, coming quickly back to reality after a moment of silent. "Yes. Yes , of course." He says and leads me to the little room where we were few months ago after he had a fight with Niall. This time, Adam is the one who lays me down and not the other way around. Korra followed us and leans against the desk.
"I think someone got mixed something into her drink." She says and Adam leans against the desk next to her. I close my eyes and listen to what they are saying.
"Didn't you notice that someone mixed something in?" Korra asks Adam.
"To be honest, I was just looking at you." Adam says to Korra.
"Poor girl. She seems nice." Says Korra.
"She is." Says Adam.
"Or maybe she's not used to drink a lot." Korra says and is so far away from the truth.
"Nah, she can actually drink a lot. Last time she had many shots, seemed drunk, but quickly got over it." Adam says and I open my eyes slightly, seeing him smiling.
"Was that the time she broke up with her boyfriend? Seems reasonable that she got quickly sober after a break up." Korra says.
"What break up?" Adam asks.
"You don't know? She told me at the bar. She told me a lot actually." Korra says and I feel tears building up.
"She didn't say a word to me about any break up at all." Adam says and I sit up. "Hey! lay down again!" Adam demands but I just shake my head at him.
"You should really sleep." Korra says and smiles softly at me.
"I can't." I take a deep breath and get up. Ready to leave them alone, I reach out for the door handle. But then I feel Adam's arms around me. He places me back down on the couch and all the memories of the night of Adam and Niall's fight stream into my head.
"I'm a mess." I say and am surprised that I don't start crying. "I thought I'm done with being a mess but now look at me. I'm here in a little room with people who are perfect for each other but don't know it yet."
I just stare at the floor and don't see how Adam and Korra are blushing.
"I'm here when I should be somewhere else with somebody else. I'm here when the only thing that I want is to be where he is. But I'm here." I say and as I feel my head spinning around.
Silence.
"We should take her home." Korra says after I haven't moved or said a word for a minute.
"No. I can go home alone." I tell them and stand up, suddenly feeling sober.
"Olivia, you either had too much or something might was in your drink. I don't think that you should be alone right now." Adam says and reaches out for my hand to pull me back but I pull my hand away from him quickly.
"No." I say and open the door.
"You really shouldn't be alone now." Korra says and takes one step closer to me.
"That's very sweet of you to say Korra and I like you." I say to her and she smiles weakly. "Adam you better keep her." I tell him and step one step out of the room.
"Olivia, you really shou--" Adam says but I cut him off.
"Being alone is the only thing I'm good at." I tell the and leave. I leave the room, the building. I step into the cold and walk home alone, because it is true. Being alone is all that's left in me.
