《Relationship With My Brothers Best Friend (Rewritten)》Chapter 7.

It's been a week since everything went down, with Adam and then with Colten and Jackson babysitting me.
The thing about all this is, while I'm at home being watched by Colten, Jackson is out doing god knows what. When he sleeps around, he usually leaves one day out of the week, but currently he's been gone a lot.
Today is another one of those days. Jackson is heading out with a friend or something and I'm left being with Colten. Yay me.
"I'll be back in a few hours," Jackson informs me, kissing my forehead despite my attempts to keep him away.
He sighs and heads out the door. Why is it that my punishment is being watched twenty four seven? I can't even use the bathroom without one of them knowing! Not only is it completely unnecessary, but also very childish.
I turn my head to the tv, ignoring Colten as he rummages through the fridge in the kitchen.
"Why do you guys not have food?" He complains, slamming the door shut with a bag of carrots in his hand. "Like what are these?"
"Carrots," I mumble. I'm still mad at him. Ever since that day I can't stand to look at him, and can you blame me? He pretty much made me get put on house arrest.
"No shit," he mutters and throws them down on the counter. "Let's order in, what would you like?"
I roll my eyes, getting up from the couch. "Don't even try to act like you care."
I walk towards the stairs hearing him call after me. "It was just a question!"
I ignore him and walk towards my room, shutting the door behind me and getting out my homework since I have nothing better to do. With Colten down stairs and Jackson away I'm actually resorting to doing school work. Wow, what has my life come to?
It's been an hour since I've started my homework and luckily Colten hasn't bothered me much. I heard him cussing at the tv a few times because of some sport game, and what not, but that's it.
I called Brittni, to ask if she could come over, but she declined. Saying she had to much homework and that she thought I was grounded. I am grounded, but that never stopped her before.
She's been really distant lately, and I still don't know why that is. Our conversations are little snippets and she never wants to come over anymore.
I think it might have something to do with the whole Adam ordeal.
Around six o'clock I start to get hungry and mentally prepare myself for heading down stairs and into the war zone. As I make my way down the steps I keep my eyes down casted on the floor and hear Colten stop talking to himself when I walk past him.
"Finally decided to come down I see," he sarcastically says. "There's pizza in the fridge."
"Thanks," I respond in surprise, shocked that he actually left me something to eat.

"No problem," he mutters. When I open the door to the refrigerator, I hear Colten's loud footsteps behind me and try not to let it effect me. "You still mad at me?"
I take a deep breath and try to move away from the fridge when he comes over and traps me against it. His forearms plant on either side of my face with his only a few millimeters away from mine.
"Colten..." I gasp, putting my hands against his chest.
"Are you?" He asks again, his stare solely on me.
"Why do you care?" I ask. "It's not like you ever did before."
"Because," he narrows his eyes at me. "You may do something you'll regret, if you're angry still."
I laugh bitterly. "I'm not a child, Colten, I don't go off and throw tantrums to spite people. Especially you."
"I find that hard to believe," he whispers.
"How?" I argue, anger filling veins.
"You only wanted to fück Adam because I was going to fuck-"
I don't let him finish when I raise my hand to slap the shit out of him, that plan doesn't go through, though. Colten grabs my hand instead, making me struggle against him.
"Stop," he growls and pins both my hand above my head when I try to get him with my free palm.
"You stop," I seethe. "Let me go, Colten."
"Not until you admit that I'm right," he demands, leaning his face closer to mine.
"Right about what?" I cry out. "I could care less if you go and sleep with Angelique or any other girl in the school."
He smirks. "Oh really? You're telling me that you weren't imagining that Adam was me when you guys were getting it on?"
I growl, narrowing my eyes into a glare.
"Yes," I spit. "I can't even stand you, Colten! Why would I have imagined Adam was you?"
Lies. Everything I'm saying is a lie, and by the smug look on Colten's face, I think he can tell too. My captors face moves closer to mine, along with his body.
My heart rate picks up from our close proximity, this causing Colten to smirk coyly. I feel as if my body is on fire with how close our chests are. It's weird, but nice at the same time. And I can still smell faint mint on Colten's breath, that's how close he is.
"I don't believe you," he whispers, looking down at my lips. "And you don't believe yourself."
I open my mouth to respond when the front door opens making Colten and I jump apart.
"I'm home! - what's wrong?" Jackson asks, eyeing us both.
"Nothing," I mumble and push past Colten, climbing the stairs to my room.
Wow. What the hell just happened?
•••
Thursday is barely existent as well as Friday. Adam still isn't talking to me, and occasionally I feel Colten's eyes on me before he looks away.

Ever since Wednesday night with us, he hasn't been the same. I don't understand it. I am starting to bring up the feelings that I've kept hidden for so long and I'm definitely not letting that happen any further. Colten isn't a guy you date...or have more than one night with.
"Hurry up, bitch!" Brittni yells, making me walk faster to the bus. The bus we'll be sharing with the football team. Budget cuts. "Damn, you are as slow as a snail."
I roll my eyes and step on to the bus, taking a seat towards the back with Brittni. Of course she would pick the seat closest to all the football players. Nathan is back here.
"Are you coming home with me after the game to get ready for the party?" I ask.
See, my brother and his best friend thought it'd be a great idea to have a party at our house tonight. I don't mind parties, just when they're not at my house.
"Yeah," Brittni says in a 'duh' tone. My bad, I should've known she was coming with me.
"Be quiet," I push her shoulder, laughing when she falls off the seat. I only laugh more when she glares at me, before getting back in the seat.
"I'll get you back for that you bitch," she scowls and dusts off her skirt. "Now look! You got my skirt dirty."
I giggle. "My bad."
"Right," she grumbles, and yells shut up to the boys who are laughing at her.
When we make it to the field, the girls and I start warming up. It's a bit chilly out tonight so I put on my warm up pants, feeling much better not that I'm sheltered from the wind.
"Can I see your running tumbling?" Coach Smithe asks, and I nod.
The girls move off the track and I start running, completing my round off, back hand spring and tuck.
"Good," coach nods. "Shannon!"
Brittni hops up to me, a smile on her face.
"I'm so jealous of your tumbling," she punches my shoulder making me scowl and punch her back, next thing I know we're both taking small jabs at each other.
"Okay!" I yell, holding my arm. We look at each other for a few seconds before laughing.
Twenty minutes later the game is ready to start. It's our ball first and in a fast play, Colten makes the first touchdown putting everyone in a good mood.
Colten isn't a bad player...I guess.
As the game progresses, we barely let the other team slide in any points. And by the end, we're ahead by three touchdowns putting us in the lead by a lot. When the buzzer goes off, everyone cheers for the win and starts talking about the party.
Exciting.
"I'm freezing," Brittni shivers as we walk to the bus, our duffle bags weighing our shoulders down.
"I guess not wearing your warm up pants will do that to you," I give her a pointed look causing her to roll her eyes.
"Whatever," she mumbles. "I would wear them, if my mom actually bought me new ones."
Brittni's mom is a full blown alcoholic. Her dad left them when Brittni was really young due to her mom cheating on him. Basically, her mom went into depression and became a work-aholic as well as an actual alcoholic. She spends her money on booze and such, not sparing Brittni or her apparel a glance.
That's why Brittni is working at Tim Hortons.
After the bus ride we pile into Jackson's truck and head home. Brittni and I race upstairs and begin the outfit finding process. This gives Colten and Jackson the time they need to set up the party. I refused to help this time since I'm always the one cleaning it afterwards. It's their party they can take care of it.
"I think you should wear this," Brittni emerges from the closet with a black and white striped crop top and washed jean shorts.
I tilt my head to the side and nod. "That will do."
I go to change and Brittni does my hair, straightening it and putting a puff at the top.
I pick out my best friends outfit that consists of a white lace corset and washed Jean shorts with holes. I match it with white vans since they're my obsession and I straighten her hair as well.
There's a knock on the door as we analyze our appearances and I yell at them to come in.
"People are starting to arrive," Jackson's eyes dart to Brittni, making my eyes squinting in confusion. "I suggest you lock your door and get down here."
"Okay," I draw out and wait for him to leave before turning to Brittni. "What was that?"
"What was what?" She asks nonchalantly, fluffing her hair.
"Jackson - you know what," I stop. "Forget it."
Brittni shrugs and we walk out the door, I turn the lock also with the key I have and put it in my pocket. I don't need any drunk slash horny teenagers doing the nasty in my room.
The bass of the music pumps through my body as I get closer and closer to the main floor. A lot of people have already filled the living room, which is also the dance floor.
Our DJ - James - is at the far end of the wall, bobbing his head to the music.
"Let's get something to drink!" Brittni shouts over the music, grabbing my hand and leading me towards my kitchen. In here Colten and Jackson are talking with some of their pals.
It doesn't take long for Colten to notice me and when he does, his eyes rake up and down my body. I watch him take his lip between his teeth making my stomach swirl with something I can't quite put my finger on.
Tonight is going to be very interesting. I can feel it.
