《Free Your Mind》Chapter Seventeen: Held on by a Thread

Spending each and every night behind our masks. Hiding away from the fight, why cower you ask. Well sometimes we just have to hold it deep within, but it's simply getting old. Soon I feel I'm going to lose my mind; I feel I might lose all control.
We ask ourselves if we're sane, if there is something wrong with our brains. Worn down by this grating war, sands of time leave a family torn. I ask myself what happened to reality, she cries out for a sliver of sanity.
We sit now watching our lives, like they're films on the big screen. Something we could only view, and never do anything to. Good lord what is this feeling, why is it happening, and will it ever end? Will it end when we reach for help, guess we'll have to die then.
Wondering if we remain here, if we're staying in this world. If maybe we're only watching our past lives play out before us. No decisions can be made, the path is prewritten. We were only along for the ride, one that so many had already ridden.
It's now we ask our question rooted deep within our minds, if the plot ahead holds only tragedy or if it contains a silver line? Will we have the crossroads to choose remaining the victim, or rising from our ashes? Do we have a semblance of balance here, or is it he that controls it all?
The world spins around and round, it crumbles into decay. Escaping from the captor leads to complete and utter disarray. Searching for the exit, before we lose the chance. We finally have a moment to be free, before it all goes cold.
All we can do now is beg for this hell to come to an end. Years go by, our attempts fail to gain custody of our lives. This battlefield continues on for miles and miles on end. There never appears to be a clearing, his smoke and mirrors remain too dense.

Midara: Requiem
"When the alternative is extinction, all acts, no matter how heinous, are permitted." The story of a little necromancer who only wants to play with abominations against all that is holy dollies and her horsey, Mister Clackybones. Welcome to the novelization of one script I designed for a video game setting I call Midara (I selected the name of a genus of moths for symbolism purposes, not to be confused with anything else). Once upon a time, I dreamed of the setting being the next Final Fantasy. Long story short: Nope. Requiem itself is meant to be an Open-World RPG which adapts to the choices of the player. This is just one of many, many paths that one might follow in Requiem's gameplay, if it ever becomes a game.
