《Exiled Kingdom》Chapter V

Demarcus panicked as he walked down the already crowded camp corridor and nearly tripped several times. However, when he lifted the curtain and entered the store, he was greeted by four pairs of eyes with strange expressions.
But compared to the noise outside, the store is quiet.
"Demarcus, Derfeck...he's dead!" Olivors said in a strange tone, "You managed to guess, he's really dead!"
"I already heard what the others said." Demarcus lay down on his "bed" and his mood calmed a bit.
Laurenz looked at this quiet companion of his; Like a neighbor who lived in the same town, both of them are familiar with each other. However, he gave her a strange feeling at this moment, “Antonio just came over and said: Artenus, Derfeck's aide, sent someone to inform us that Derfeck has died in battle. He is currently gathering the scattered soldiers to join us.”
“Demarcus, I want to beat the crap out of you for making me unable to sleep well last night. But I didn't expect you to be right!" Mace scratched his head in embarrassment.
"Next, what should we do?" Giorgris's words made everyone look at Demarcus again with strange expressions.
Demarcus was wondering what was going on, when Olivors said impatiently, “Speak! What oracle did Wahdarr give you?
Demarcus looked at them in surprise. He only then understood why they were behaving strangely; they thought he had received favor from Wahdarr.
When news of Derfeck's death reached Laurenz's ears, they were shocked that Demarcus's words were true, so they started talking about Demarcus. After summarizing everyone's views, they were surprised to find that almost everyone thought that their younger companion, whom they had been caring for, woke up from his coma and behaved and spoke differently from his original behavior, like a different person. (Although Demarcus did not speak much last night, the temperament of a modern man is naturally very different from that of another world.)

So they thought that Demarcus must have been lucky enough to meet Wahdarr and got his help to return to the world of the living. Also, the way he woke up was a little scary; when they found him on the battlefield, he remained unconscious no matter what they called him, then his eyes suddenly widened.
So, now that everyone was feeling helpless, this comrade of his who had received "help from a God" obviously became their only way to save his life.
And Demarcus found it amusing to have the opportunity. Because in this world of ignorance, although the Vladians were not as superstitious as the Aserai about the gods, the Vladian gods were closely related to all aspects of life. But Demarcus did not dare to take credit because he only knew that there was such a historical event and he does not know the explicit process.
“What an oracle! I just like to think about the worst that could happen, only then can I be prepared in case of danger.”
That you like to think of the worst! Do you think we don't know what kind of person you were before? You were a silly boy who only knew how to fight and fight! Now that kid really knows how to think, so if the gods didn't favor you, how come your way of speaking changed? Could it be that Wahdarr told him to keep it a secret? The four people looked at each other understandingly. The stories about gods that their parents told them every day from a young age had influenced them, letting them know about the whims of gods and complicated taboos.
Then, for the sake of their safety, they stopped asking questions and looked at him expectantly.
The way his eyes see Demarcus is similar to that of the impoverished hillbilly who hoped that the college student could change the town's perspective when Demarcus first became an official. Like them, he doesn't know what to do. Demarcus sighed into his heart. But suddenly his mind jolted and he asked, “Do any of you know Asa Corbeld? ”

All four shook their heads.
"You mean Asa Corbeld could help us?" Olivors couldn't help but ask.
Demarcus smiled and said nothing. He found it strange that no one had heard of him, since on the internet, Asa Corbeld had led the retreat, so he must be a mercenary leader!
“Where is Asa Corbeld from? Is he part of our troops? Laurenz asked.
"He... probably... he... should be a Pendrican." Demarcus still knows Asa Corbeld's birthplace. After all, Asa Corbeld was an ancient scholar of the game, a military strategist, and a disciple of Ellis Eade, the last priestess of the empire.
"When I have time, I'll go ask the people in the other camps." Laurenz said seriously.
Let's hope he's not under Clechus' command! Otherwise, we can't search for it!" Giorgis said. The relationship between the two leaders, Clechus and Metor, was so bad that even the mercenaries below them hated each other as well.
“Is it just a fight? Just hit them! We Sargotians are not afraid of those bastards! Mace said excitedly.
"Who are you going to fight?" The tent opened and a man came in, the man is Antonios.
Through the memory of this body, Demarcus knew that he was the leader of his platoon. However, the people in the store continued to sit and lie down; none of them got up to say hello. After all, they are mercenaries and he had no authority except during battles.
"We're telling jokes." Laurenz said.
“There is a lot of noise outside, and you can still joke around, good! Good!" Antonios said half jokingly.
He looked at the people in the tent and said to Laurenz, “Metor asked me to inform the squad leaders and comfort our brothers. Derfeck had an unforeseen death, but luckily, his troops are still there, so we still have the advantage, while the Aserai are at a disadvantage, which hasn't changed yet. Tomorrow, after we meet with Derfeck's aide Artenus, we'll have at least 30,000 men! At that time, we will defeat King Aserai once again and it will give us much more benefits! Maybe… we will even support a new Aserai king!!”
Antonios was satisfied with his surprised expression and was ready to turn around, but Laurenz grabbed him: “Comforting the brothers may be fine, but you must let them eat their fill! Although everyone ate some raw horse meat from last night, everyone is still hungry! And no news from Lucious. So if they couldn't eat, I can't guarantee what will happen!"
"Yes! That's right! If we can't eat, we'll stop!" everyone yelled.
Antonios patted his stomach and said embarrassedly, “I'm hungry too and my stomach is growling. Now the whole military camp is short of food. In addition to urging Lucious to think of a solution, Metor himself went to Protenus, since I heard that his camp had suffered less loss yesterday. But even if we could get some, it wouldn't be much for everyone, so let's hang in there for a day! Antonios finished and ran out of the store.
Laurenz sighed and told everyone, "I'm going to take a look at the other store." He also went outside. Laurenz was a squad leader and in charge of 9 men, with the other 5 men living in the adjoining tent.
Previously, Demarcus had been so entangled with his past and present life that he hadn't realized that he hadn't eaten anything. After listening to everyone's problems, Demarcus's stomach began to growl.
But he could only imitate the others and wrapped himself in a sheep blanket and lay down on the "bed" to reduce physical consumption.
