He could feel it. Really FEEL it! As soon as he entered this world, his home world, with that elf, “John” could feel the emptiness that was inside of his “earthly” body fill with mana. It wasn’t a fast process, but he could feel how deep the hole in his core was now that it was filling. He never knew how or why some people had so much more power than others. But now, now he knew what the catalyst was. It wasn’t the right of birth as the rich would have you think. Ohhh no. It was because they were brought here from another world. The gods themselves must have had a hand in it. How else could such a powerful system be set up? Or were they even really gods?
“Were they just people from earth who became so powerful that they were able to bridge the gap between worlds?” John whispered to himself.
John had time to think now. After Wen left, he was left to his own designs in his new home. He had made himself a meal with what had been afforded him by whoever set up his transaction. He knew he was going to be visited by one of Baron Kails’ men to set up financing, and maybe even fill him in on where he really was, the elf had said so. He had accepted everything so easily. Made the elf’s job so easy.
“I hope I didn’t send out too many red flags.” John mused aloud.
He took a sip of coffee. How novel. He wondered if coffee was even a natural product of his home world, or if it had been brought over by the people running things. He could imagine a world walker would want some creature comforts to remind themselves of their own world.
“Hah, I would if I had the power to do so. Still, how was I allowed to be a chosen one. It all seemed just so random.” John mulled it over out loud.
The other world believed in a god. In fact, their past was steeped in lore about him/her. Could there be a higher power quietly working behind the scenes? Was that company run in good faith toward that god’s designs? How would people know what that god’s designs even were? He/she was not hands on after all. Or at least not anymore. Had they moved on to the creation of another world, leaving this one and the Earth to their own fate after he set everything up and gave them moral rules? A parent would always let their offspring live as they would, once they were grown. Some parents spent a lot of time guiding their children, some not so much. Yet you never knew how that child would really turn out in the end. There was good and bad in all walks of life.
“Uhhggg.” John moaned dropping his head into his hands upon the table. “I could sit around forever and never come up with any new answers. Smarter people than me have tried.” John sighed. “I wonder if that company even has all the answers, or if they are just making it up as they went too.”

John laid his head back down onto the table.
After another sigh John sat up. Then he looked down to his hand making a fist.
“Earth sure had some good ways to train yourself. They had to without any magic.”
It was hard for him at first. He almost went mad as a baby. So many things he endured without being able to do more than cry to let someone know there was an issue. It wasn’t until he was three that his body responded enough for him to start articulating words. How his parents had thought he was some kind of genius. Sure, he had had previous life experiences to draw from. So, he did have a head start. Imagine being able to go through life with an adult plan to guide your future. He had had that. While he still had not developed a mind worthy of great intellect, he still came out ahead. His life wasn’t really bad back on Earth. But damn he had missed home.
“I guess I know what they felt coming here. I wonder how much time has passed.”
After all, back on earth there were many stories and postulations about time differentials. Unless you had all the answers, it may have taken thousands of years for his soul to cross over.
“Or not. Unless the Kails line is very very long lived. Heh.”
Somehow, he had been brought back to his home continent. He knew of the Kails family. Baron Kails was a regular guy who had worked his ass off to get where he was. A self-made millionaire, but without capitalism. His old farming village was two landowners over. He had been the second son of a simple farmer, so he had two choices at the time. He could work for his older brother, or he could find his own way in life. John had chosen his own way. He had been arrogant in his previous life upon reflection. Sitting in a baby’s body for a few years certainly taught you one thing… Patience. A second life afforded you opportunity to not make the same mistakes. John was kind of proud of how he lived back on Earth. He had come from a lower income family that did not have anything to spare. Yet from his past life living on a simple farm, Earth was a paradise. Well at least until he found out it wasn’t. There was still a gaping social discrepancy. Some tings never changed it seemed.
John finished off his coffee and went outside. He took a deep breath. “God’s the air here is so clean compared to Earth.” Then he chuckled to himself. How quickly he had suddenly fallen back into old saying. Nobody ever used the term God’s there. Afterall they only had one now.
“… huh, I wonder if there were more than one God in Earth’s past and they had moved onto his world at some point. Maybe mythology wasn’t so mythical after all. Or maybe someone like me crossed over before and wrote stories of Erat’s past. Could explain a lot.” Then he let out a frustrated grunt. “So many ifs and no answers. Huh, could have been Homer.” he said rubbing his chin while enjoying the fresh country air.

His house was on a small plot of land. About ten acres or so. There was no set commodity the household was set up for. No forge, no alchemist lab. Must have been some guy with a bit of gold had bought this parcel of land to retire on. Ex adventurer maybe.
“Hah. Back to metals as the monetary standard.”
There were rare metals that the deep earth races would dig up. Then those metals were reforged by combining different metals together. None of it felt as magical anymore after Earth’s science explained a lot. Still Earth did not have the legendary metals that you needed to imbue with magic to create. So, there was that.
John stretched. He was well conditioned. One thing his previous life had taught him, your body was a temple. So, he had worked out and kept himself in very fit shape.
“Shit! Now I don’t have to worry about cancer anymore. Hell, everything can be pretty much cured here!” John was elated suddenly at this thought. His hard work would never come crashing down because of some cell that refused to die. A cleric could fix that with a simple spell!
With a massive grin John began to ponder his new fate. He had a new start in life. Honestly a pretty good one if he could keep it going. Even with so much available land, not just anybody could get a house like this on such a large plot of land. You could always make your own way in the wilderness, but then you had to contend with monsters, wild animals and the lesser and greater evil races trying to kill or eat you.
But if one amassed enough power, you could do as you pleased for the most part. That he knew well from both worlds.
“Oh, I wonder if those two young girls got roped in.” the stray thought popped into his brain then out just as fast.
John was now wondering about his land. Enjoying the sun set. Even the colors here seemed more real.
He had joined the military when he was younger. It just felt right. He had worked his way up to Corporal in that time. He had no real desires to go further up to Sargent. Now he had real life survival skills from an advanced society. The cherry on top would be what he chose to do from here on. He had the physical ability to be any of the melee classes, well except paladin. Unless he was able to choose a god so late in life. He never had one set god back in his previous life here either. Cavalier would be the highest he could attain.
He had also done martial arts and some weapon training. While at the time he felt it was just a normal thing for him to learn due to his previous life, it would be a good base moving forward. He had always gravitated toward the more old-world thinking. No surprise.
“Well maybe not full-on thief. That’s just not me.” Some skills would be nice to learn though if he was going the adventurer route. Maybe businessman. Or cook, there were lots of stories and manga about people moving across worlds and bringing their cuisine ideas with them. Ha no, this was real life!
“Some form of mage thief then. Mages with a high mana pool were always in demand. And some spells even mimicked priest healing in some ways. And God’s does my mana pool feel deep!”
Something about having an Earth body just seemed to allow a greater mana compacity. Hell, he felt he could even give a high mage a run for his money with some proper practice.
“I wonder if the strong ones now are just the descendants of world walkers.”
There couldn’t be that many cross overs, or this world would be overrun by power crazy people in no time.
“World walkers… well, since I am one, I guess I get to choose how I want to be referred to as. At least if someone finds me out.”
“Oh, maybe a romance class… Like necromancer. I could be a good one… maybe turn the class around from being hated too useful. Nah. That would be too hard. Too many people would try to kill me when they found out. Except… with my new power I could keep myself safe. I could do this…”
Then after some thought. “Nah, the rituals and spells are just not good for natural as a whole. HA. I sound like groups on Earth now. Fighting for the environment. Well, I guess there is a lesson to be learned there.”
After more thought.
“Mage then. It’s where the real power lies. Other than the clergy classes, I guess. I doubt some god is just going to grant me massive power out of the blue.”
He looked up at the sky for a bit.
“Heh, manga fails me.”
With a starting plan, John walked back into his new home rubbing his hands together in anticipation. This was going to be FUN!
