《Grand Defender》Chapter 19

Similar to my energy reserves, the arrows started to run out. Ena couldn’t do anything right now to help us both, if she tried to shoot the creatures, she would reveal our location because of the arrows' direction; if she tried to shoot them upwards, she might not only miss, but also, the arrows might whistle.
With a hole in my torso, it was getting quite tedious to kill every beast, as each kill required a lot of individual attention, attention that I mostly didn’t have, as most of it was going to trying to not move much and keeping my breathing steady so that the giant orifice I had wouldn’t rupture again.
That was, until the System notifications kicked in
Congratulations! You have gained 4 levels in [Hunter], 5 levels in [Spearman] and 4 levels in [Geomancer]

“Fucking finally”, I lightly said with the help of the new energy coursing through my body. “Let’s see what the System offers this time”
…
After some consideration, I chose [Homing Spear]. It was similar to just throwing my spear and using [Geomancer] to guide it, but I didn’t have to actually focus on my spear now, and it didn’t take any energy, either. Not that I was going to use it right now, since I would be throwing away my only weapon, but it would work in future situations.
“Hey Ena, I know these are your arrows and that there’s not many of them,” I said in a whisper, “do you mind if I explode them? I’ll make you some more later”
“Explod-!”, she raised her voice slightly, then changed to a whisper, “Explode them? I mean, sure. But how are you going to do that”

“Alright then, the System can be pretty useful sometimes, you know?”, I thanked Ena, then started levitating all of the remaining arrows at once, raising them up silently, and then making them fall like thunder upon the creatures. As soon as the arrows hit either the amalgams or the ground, I used [Mineral Explosion] to absolutely tear the beasts apart. Some lived, although injured to the point of no return.
“Here, take my spear for a second”, I said as I handed her the spear. “Go to were those thing are and pierce each one of their heads”
“But some are still alive! And I don’t even know how to use a spear in the first place!”, she protested. “Can’t you go do it instead? What if they bite me?”
“You learned how to use a bow right? I bet that’s harder than using a pointy stick,” I responded. “And have you seen how I am right now? I’m not moving for a while”
With a tablespoon or two of hesitation, Ena, with repulsion, directed herself towards the beasts. She often flinched or even ran whenever one of the creatures snarled at her, trying its best to prolong its miserable life.
After she was done unnecessarily covering herself and my spear with that vomit-blood mixture, Ena sat back down beside me, emanating the stench of a thousand demons.
“I guess you really don’t know how to use a spear, haha” I laughed, my laugh quickly turning into a pained cough.
“Oh fuck off, at least I’m not half dead”, Ena said as she handed me my spear back, also covering me with the accursed liquid.
“Careful there! You might give me an infection, haha”, I placed the spear to my side, before coughing again, this time with blood coming out.

“You okay? You might really have an infection, after that thing bit you and all that”, said Ena worriedly, “How long will it take you to heal? I saw you regain a good chunk of torso in just a second, can’t you do that again?”
“It’s very probable that I have an infection, yes. Can’t heal any faster until tomorrow, sadly”, I replied. “But look, the blue of the sky is returning”
The atmosphere was indeed looking normal again, everyone had probably defeated their share of vomit creatures. Then, the System cleared up everyones’ doubts.
Congratulations! You have all survived with zero deaths and only a few injured!
You can now upgrade a Class! (You’ll need it)
